It adds more flexibility to the deck is what I'm getting at.
And no, it's not a 'win-more' scenario to tap all their Restoration Angels down to attack for lethal the next turn and win the game OR delay to digging to a Cryptic/Snapcaster OR a various of other scenarios.

A Vendilion Clique, Snapcaster Mage, or Thundermaw Hellkite in that you can bounce them to trigger their ETB effect so that there is a lot of flexibility there! It can buy you an additional turn against so many decks by getting that flexibility. It's fantastic. 1-2of in any list hands down and for the foreseeable future it'll stay that way. I love it (:
Edit: Bouncing Thundermaw Hellkite is a way to buy an additional turn or more against twin that can't be redirected. I love it.

Dude, people here are not saying explosives will solve the match up, but it will certainly help, totem armor or no.
As i see it, you have 3 choices:
1) you ignore the deck, since its tier 2 at most and accept an eventual loss should you cross it.
2) you play generalist cards that may help, but wont guarantee you winning (explosives)
3) you play bad cards designed to hose the deck, using valuable sb slots to win and leave yourself open to other match ups.
If it were me, i would chose 1. Maybe 2, if the cards are good in a few other match ups. NEVER choose 3.
Agreed. #2 is what I pick if the card is useful in other matchups. In this instance, Engineered Explosives is a great option for the modern meta. 1 or 2 is the number I personally run.

Incorrect and unnecessary. Please stick to constructive posting.
I agree that in the current meta UWr is not a top contender, but I think it's still a really strong deck. I just wish I knew what it needed for that extra oomph!

I was told that this was the appropriate thread to discuss Geist. I am in no way trying to claim that I invented the idea of a UW based Geist deck. The strat has been in development for Modern since the card was printed. I think the confusion is coming from the title of this thread. It was UWr midrange SLASH Geist of Saint Bant. It has merged two very separate concepts into one thread (bad idea). Geist decks should have their own thread. Whether or not that thread will remain in Proven remains to be seen however.
I completely agree. Many that I've seen still playing UWr Midrange have turned away from Geist of Saint Draft as well. I think a split is also necessary since people are trying to brew two different directions.

And don't tell me no one cares. I have already gotten 2 private messages so far asking for my list and further strategy explanations. Just because not everyone wants to fight it out with closed minded folks here doesn't mean there isn't interest in taking the deck to a better place.
Forgive my jumping in here and commenting on this, but I find it silly that this is continuing for weeks on end:
I think your deck is fantastic. It has great potential and doesn't stretch itself as thin as UWR does so that in many metas it will be a much stronger choice.
That being said, your deck is not a UWR Midrange. It isn't now and it never has been. It belongs in its own thread and the fact that you're trying to hijack this primer to push your deck is just silly. I would love to hear more about your deck and the playstyle/ideas that you're taking as well as how it boards to deal with various threats, but not here. Not in this thread.
Edit: I just also want to throw out there that I'm a big fan of your brews and the way you help players in both your primers and the other threads. I'm not trying to knock on you, I think everything you've done is phenomenal and has been extremely helpful to everyone. (:
I feel with a Anger of the Gods that he may be more of a sideboard card at this point...? I just have more games where he's not a useful draw than he is useful.
Thoughts?

I'd run Engineered Explosives before I would run Supreme Verdict. It catches storm, Young Pyromancer UR, twin, Bogles, merfolk, and several others quite nicely and in a timely fashion that Supreme Verdict just doesn't match.

Is there a reason we don't play Cavern of Souls? I want to try it out as URW control becomes more popular and landing a Geist becomes more important. There is clearly a reason why no one is running it. Is it simply because our mana base is shaky as it is?
Three colors and including another colorless land (essentially since a lot of our deck is spells... it would only work on a few of the critters) would be quite difficult. Also the fact that our creatures are all different makes it very narrow.

I disagree. I prefer Engineered Explosives. At 1 it destroys Bogles and doesn't effect us. At 2 it smacks gruul and rock and only hits our snapcasters, which have done their job by the time they hit the battlefield. At 0 it stops twin, warrens storm (affinity on 0,1 or 2).
2 thoughts:
1. I don't see an issue with running both if the meta calls for it.
2. From what I understand, the twin aspect of this is something that is commonly misunderstood. Those copies of the original creature in a twin deck actually have a converted mana cost of the original creature. It can still 'stop' twin, but it would be set at a cmc of 3 to do so.

I'm having a hard time versus Bogle...I sideboard in engineered explosives for sure, but totem armor nullifies that quite a bit...
What is the best strategy again bogle?
Celestial Flare is exactly what I would recommend too! That's really the only competitive deck that I think that card is extremely useful with (Except the mirror match by stacking it on Giest of Saint Traft's ability I suppose) so I would recommend only running it if you've had quite a few in your local meta. I personally always approach that deck with this thinking:
thanks 4 your advice is much appreciated. i love them, too, but i fear i will color screw by running 2 over 25. maybe i could cut it for a plains? or risking to go 2x...
Not sure how often you play your version, but personally I haven't had many color screw games (had a few, but they are far and few between) and I run 3 Tectonics.

can make room from spell suite easy enough. i'd probably cut 1 path, my isochron, maybe a helix, maybe a snap. it'd have to be thought out quite a bit.
i guess it's not even close to as good as cursecatcher, which gets lord pumps.
Better than Cursecatcher in this deck, although I feel suboptimal still.
