"Good luck to you as well, and thank you for your companionship"
Vorin shook Kassim's hand. "I hope to see you around Estark soon"
He smiled awkwardly, then noted "Oh, and if the mapmakers (Saffi + Hans) have any sort of reward for us making this expedition, please leave my share at the red mana Sorcerers House. Thanks."
"Actually, I was hoping to return to the town one last time. If I was sensing correctly, Felix is a red mage, and since that whole act appears to have been some bizarre illusion (Vorin sounded tentative and unsure about this), I was hoping to at least talk to him. I haven't really had a chance to meet other red mana users, so it may be useful. But you should head back to Estark. I don't want to keep you waiting and I remember the way back..."
Vorin was absolutely shellshocked. He had always been taught never to surrender. There was no way he could have won that fight, but he was still pissed that he didn't fight it.
He walked over to the totem and splashed water on his face just like Kassim did. Suddenly, he felt happy to be alive still, and began to be happier that Kasism had accepted the test. Had it just been him, he probably would have jumped in and be dead right now. The water felt refreshing on the burns on his faith and seemed to sooth the aches in his bodies he had attained from summoning all the red mana.
He felt the mana beneath his feet, he shot a small burst of flames down at the ground. He watched the small area of desert beneath the flame burn to a crisp. The flame turned grayer, and Vorin began to feel the Desert mana entering his system.
OOC: Sorry. I just started a new job, so posting may be spotty for a bit...
Vorin looked over at Kassim with disbelief, but was ready to protect him when he was attacked. Vorin turned one hand away from the totem ready to attack any of the creatures that approached Kassim. His teammate might be surrendering, but he certainly would not.
Meanwhile, there had been little action for a few minutes. Nerves were high, but there was a lull in the actual fighting. Hoping to take advantage of this lull, Vorin moved his hand resting by the totem slightly closer to it leaving a small red flame on the totem which slowly began to extinguish without spreading. As the flame disappeared from the totem, he slowly focused upon it, trying to access the mana of the desert. However, he was ready to interrupt this process in an instant to rush to Kassim's aid.
OOC: I am attempting to make the spiritual connection with the land I am right next to, taking advantage of the temporary ceasefire. I am doing this using a small bit of fire, but am trying to be subtly, as I appear to be far-ish from the action. Again, if Kassim is attacked I will rush to his aid.
Vorin listened to Kassim as he spoke his plan, fortunate that he did not have to get up, but as Kassim planned, he became angrier and angrier. He refused to simply flee in the faces of these cowards that had ambushed them.
He gathered the power to stand up and looked down at his hands where the red mana was concentrated. His body ached still from gathering the mana, and in his weakened state he could not imagine gathering any more red mana. At a loss, he began to focus inward.
He was trying to do something he had not done since learning to use red mana. He focused deep inside himself and remembered his origins in the Forest. He clenched his fist as he felt himself struggling to remember how he had learned to gather mana in his youth. With the red mana draining his body, he had convinced himself that the only way to be able to beat these monsters was to summon green mana once again. Vorin reached deep inside himself, but the more he focused on his mana, the more hopeless he felt. It was as if he was reaching into a bottomless void. Suddenly, his eyes flashed green for less than a second, and then everything he had been focusing on collapsed. The green mana inside him was gone, and there was clearly no way he could access it now. His hands flew open and began to glow brightly red, enough so that anyone would be able to see them through the sandstorm. The burn marks on Vorin's scarred body began to singe in pain, as if his body was rejecting the idea of reusing green mana.
His elven magic may not have come back, but many of his ingrained elven instincts seemed to be returning to him in this instant. He felt ruthless, powerful, and cunning. He looked towards the attackers ready to fight with all the strength he had left, but when he turned back to Kassim, he noticed something in the corner of his eye...the totem. Suddenly, with all the energy his scarred body could muster, Vorin dashed toward the totem. With his hands still glowing red with mana, he put one on top of the other and rested them a mere inches from their sacred totem. He strategically placed the goblin he had summoned in the space between himself and his attackers. He seemed to have enough red mana for one, clear, destructive blast.
He finally spoke, and sounded very weak. "Retreat now. Or else I'll destroy your sacred relic..."
On the Battlefield:
2 Mountains (Untapped, and ready to be used to blast the sacred totem to smithereens with Incinerate)
1 Raging Goblin (Half way between Vorin and Felix, ready to defend Vorin)
OOC: To clarify, Vorin was once a green mage. In this time of crisis, he tried to access this mana again to fight with, and failed. I am not trying to become a green mage here, just RPing.
Vorin's instincts are to attack. Elves do not retreat. He took a step forward toward Felix with a look of disgust, but his leg simply fell from under him. He was exhausted, and his body could not stand gathering this mana yet another time.
Thinking quickly, he tried to adapt Kassim's diplomatic perspective, trying to make it look like he had not attempt to fight when he lunged forward. It wasn't very convincing. He nodded at Kassim and gazed back at the totem, not looking at Felix. Knowing that he had no way to defend himself, he chose to stay quiet, angry at himself for falling for this deception.
Vorin senses the mana in the totem and nods to Kassim as the visibilty goes down.
He gathers more mana, and a dim red light begins to radiate from him, allowing him to see a tiny bit more clearly. Summoning the mana is beginning to hurt him again, and he grunts a little bit as he conjures a goblin to his side to defend himself. The goblin, shocked at this bizarre weather, seems irritated and ready to attack, but Vorin commands it to stay by his side rather than run blindly into the sandstorm. Vorin, who seemed to be becoming accustomed to this conditions, raised his hand ready to strike down anything that attacked him.
Vorin, accustomed to seeing elemental monsters spawned from nature, began to summon mana and he was ready to blast anything that came towards him. He continued walking toward the totem.
Still sore from the last battle, his body ached as he gathered the mana.
Vorin saw Kassim nod and began to ascend as well. Since Kassim was focusing on making sure the path was safe, Vorin was keeping vigilant and constantly checking the surroundings.
Vorin trusted Kassim, who had seen how the red mana had been affecting him throughout the journey. Kassim's word's reassured him and he began walking out of the village.
OOC: Do the cards from play go to the graveyard? And do we still have our lands?
OOC: This is in response to the green mage healing us.
"Kassim. It seems like we're about to head into a fight. Most of my spells are spent from our last battle, and I'm sure yours are too. Shall we rest for a while in the town before departing for the totem?"
Vorin's body still ached from all the red mana he had conjured and he was worried about what would happen if he were to rush back into battle.
Vorin shook Kassim's hand. "I hope to see you around Estark soon"

"Kassim, don't forget the totem that the villagers mentioned earlier." He turned to Felix "Might you know where that is?"
Vorin clearly had been thinking about leaving and heading towards the totem for a while now.
