So I found out that Amok exists today. It will likely not make it into my deck because of the random discard effect, but I felt it was worth talking about
honestly have no idea on cuts yet for the new stuff, but minamo could be pretty strong, just beware of making solemn and burnished completely useless, i would at least keep 7-8 basics minimum
shizo is decent, and shinka never really does anything.
Duly noted. I agree on cutting Preyseizer Dragon for Drana, as you mentioned earlier. It will lower the deck's curve a little bit, and I find myself not wanting to play or tutor for Preyseizer often. Also, do you still use Thassa, God of the Sea in your build?
with expeditions, i think loads of people are going to get pack fever, but honestly she and the walkers are really the only solid cards, so we might be looking at one of those standards with a few 30+ dollar mythics and dollar bin everything else.
As am I. In addition to her obvious abilities, she has 2 base power, so Imperial Recruiter can go grab her, and she is an Ally, which makes Tuktuk Scrapper a little better just by her being in the deck.
Grimgrin has been too good to me for me to cut him quite yet, but I can agree on cutting Graveborn out of my deck for it. The Eldrazi fellow is much better than it, because in addition to the card draw and sac outlet powers, it also flies, which is quite nice for hitting people with.
On another topic, does anyone run Viscera Seer and if so, how has it been working out?
This is exactly what Avaricious Dragon was trying to be but so much less risky and so much more abusable. This is the first guy I've seen in a while that just seems like it's an immediate auto-include.
It seems pretty good, but my next question would be "What do we take out for it?"
With the Wizard theme becoming more and more prevalent in the list, and combined with the fact that Filth hasn't been doing much for me lately, I've decided to try substituting Vela the Night-Clad back into the deck in its place. While her evasion is not as good as Filth's with Urborg up, she also helps knock down life totals and doesn't need a second card (Urborg) to grant the permanent evasion (and is also a Wizard). Plus, on a personal note, she has really nice art and is legendary, which I like. Thoughts?
Hey all, I just picked up a Fulminator Mage and I'm hoping you guys can help me figure out what to cut to make room for it. My creature suite is as follows (I'm on mobile, so I'm sorry it's not sorted by CMC):
I'm thinking Grey Merchant might be on the chopping block. I know Grenzo isn't super popular with everyone, but I do like the shenanigans he enables with a solid scry engine like Thassa. Any thoughts?
Hey, I've been trying to make a marchesa deck for a while now, and this thread has been a big help to me, that said, I have some questions I'd like to ask you guys:
Earlier in the thread you mentioned that you thought bitterblossom wasn't very good in this deck, can you explain that a bit more? It seems like it would work great with marchesa.
Feldon is pretty powerful in my experience. In the most recent game I played, he copied a dead Scourge of the Throne and won the game with it. Sidisi has also done work because of the sac outlet/tutor ability, plus having a 4/5 deathtouch around is always nice. She can also be recurred off Marchesa so that you can tutor numerous times. So yeah, she's worth it.
So, I have really wanted to build around her since she came out, and I want to build another black deck to even my decks out a little (and I love blue and red so much that I don't care that they are over represented in my decks). My only issue, is that while I am not on a hugely restricted budget, I can't commit crazy amounts of money to this deck.
With that in mind, what are some of the core cards of the deck I absolutely need? And don't worry about mentioning the ones under a dollar or two since I plan to pick them up anyway. Of the more expensive cards, what are the key ones I need to splurge for and what are some that I can live without?
If you don't have Sneak Attack, that's number one. That card can generate some ridiculous turns.

Minamo is obviously the strongest one, but what do you guys think of Shizo, Death's Storehouse and Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep. We do have quite a few legendary creatures.

I'd say either Puppeteer Clique or Archaeomancer can go, although Grey Merchant is a reasonable choice as well.
