LaPille mentions that, during an FFL tournament, he used both cards. FFL tests the Standard, Limited, and Block environments exactly a year from now. He mentions already using Lights cards.
Are both of those cards going to appear in M11? While Jace seems quite likely, the latter is surprising.
Didn't Brady or someone say he wanted to reprint Baneslayer in M11? I was under the impression its reappearance next year was highly expected, especially after how well desired it is currently.

They're in Standard together for a three month period, but either way, it's a moot point, since M10 will rotate when Lights enters Standard.
Not from what we know about the FFL.
Well, design and development of a set happens for more than one set at once. They could be putting the final tweaks on M11 now while Lights is in the middle of development and Camera is being designed. That's how it seems like it works to me.
As for Jace and Baneslayer, Jace is pretty likely as the original walkers are the simplest and represent their colors well. Now, as for Baneslayer, it's already been heavily hinted at serveral times by Wizards already.

You're referring to Aaron Forsythe, I believe. I think it was he who said that he loved the card and was fighting for it's inclusion in M11.
Also note this doesn't say WHICH Jace, he could be talking about the Jace that is likely to be printed in Worldwake, which may also be the blue 'walker in M11.

i think the op is right, this does spoil baneslayer for m11. and thank god, no one wants to have paid $25 a piece for her just for year's worth of play..
edit @wildfire: yeah he does say which. he calls it jace beleren specifically.
Also note this doesn't say WHICH Jace, he could be talking about the Jace that is likely to be printed in Worldwake, which may also be the blue 'walker in M11.
Incorrect, he shows off four Jace's, clearly the Lorwyn / M10 version, while hiding the expansion symbol. He then goes ahead and denotes he specifically means Jace Beleren.
Is M10 actually finalized by now though? The point is that this is development, right? They're playtesting to figure out if the cards are balanced, and if not adjust them. If they decide baneslayer is making some deck OP then they could cut her and design something else.
This would say that said two cards were slotted in the design file and likely to show up in M11, but that's not a garuntee, especially for baneslayer.
I think this is anything but accidental, given that he apparently teases this fact at the end of the article.

Giving enough detail about the FFL games I played this morning while not talking about cards I can't talk about yet is a little bit tricky, but I'm happy with how I eventually handle it.
Hmm... If they reprint Jace Beleren in m11, I must say that it seems... I dunno, counterintuitive if they came out with a newer Jace. Just seems like a step backwards.
And no, for once, I'm not harping on Jace in Worldwake. I'd like to know what you think about the reprinting if they came out with a newer version.

Your logic fails, given that Ajani got a new form in Alara, but two sets later, was reprinted in M10 in his original form.

If you want to get technical, his original form was in Alara, but that's neither here nor there, I was actually trying to see what you thought.
Of course, core sets aren't canon, so I don't suppose it'd have to follow any sort of character progression to start with. I guess I forgot that. Same reason why Sarkhan wasn't featured in m10 but he was quoted.
I really like the inclusion of the original planeswalkers in the core set. If they ever happen to be bested by something that better represents their mono color, so be it. But I sincerely doubt it. The only one that has even come close to matching the color so spot on is Elspeth, Knight Errant. All other monocolored walkers match a portion of their color pie, typically something more obscure/less common in the pie (Chandra Ablaze) or they fit some "niche" in the set (Tezzeret, Sorin Markov, Nissa Revane).

Indeed. The Core Sets are becoming strange that way, though I just assume that whatever version of said Planeswalker shows up in a Core Set is his "base form". That said, I think Chandra Ablaze will replace Chandra Nalaar and Elspeth, Knight-Errant will replace Ajani Goldmane come M11.

I dunno, Chandra Ablaze seems to be more complicated in comparison to the original, and it seems they've really been trying to push simpler understandability in the core set. Makes me think they might stick with Nalaar for a bit yet.
Elspeth, could go either way. Fairly powerful card that'd do pretty well if m11 follows m10 trends.

it's not like they were pushed out and then they'd have to be in m11 to be playable in ffl.
Copy this sig to join the cause. Cuz, ya know, Wizards makes decisions based on sigs

Nope with the new changes wizards did the next rotation will be Shards block & M10 next October when Lights enters standard.
Why is that "unfortunate"? More in print means the price should drop steadily.
