I know we'll probably know in an hour, but if you go to the Autocard page for Brainstorm and the Autocard page for Ponder, the legality of these cards is shown to be "legal in Vintage" as opposed to "restricted," which is the language used for a card which was restricted last cycle, such as Time Vault, as well as a card which was restricted at the same time as those cards such as Gifts Ungiven.
Consequently, I think Brainstorm and Ponder will be unrestricted in Vintage.
I felt that I had enough hard evidence to put this in the rumor mill instead of speculation. Apologies if this doesn't belong here (or if this turns out to not be the case).
---------
Well, I guess I made a mistake earlier, because Gifts Ungiven wasn't restricted at the same time as Brainstorm and the other cards. Instead it was this announcement, where Brainstorm, Ponder, Gush, Merchant Scroll, and Flash all got the axe. I find it unlikely that all of these would be coming back, particularly Flash. Perhaps they just didn't update the database.
Sorry, kids. I suppose it's possible on the 19th, but it's unlikely.

Magic Online Formats
Format: Pauper
Pauper is a Magic Online format in which all cards used must have been printed at the common rarity in a Magic Online set or product. Other than that, the usual rules for Constructed decks apply (a minimum deck size of 60 cards in the main deck, an optional 15-card sideboard, and so on). If a common version of a particular card was ever released on Magic Online, any versions of that card printed at other rarities are also legal in this format.
Example: Counterspell was a common card in the Seventh Edition core set, which was released on Magic Online. Counterspell was reprinted in Masters Edition II with an uncommon expansion symbol. Both versions of the card can be used in the Pauper format.
Example: Hymn to Tourach, another uncommon from Masters Edition II, is not legal for use in the Magic Online Pauper format. Even though Hymn to Tourach was printed as a common in the Fallen Empires set, that set was never released on Magic Online.
The banned list for Pauper is as follows:
Cranial Plating is banned
Formats: Singleton, 100 Card Singleton, Commander

I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
Well the beta gatherer is showing the same thing currently, so unless it is some massive bug we at least know two of the cards going to be discussed in the B&R
P.S. I checked SDT and it is indeed still banned in extended.
WotC has been rather sadistic lately with our poor little Vintage-playing minds.
HAHA Your format asplode! All done squirming and writhing in pain? Now beg like a dog and you can have your cantrips back.
"The next Banned and Restricted List Announcement will be published on December 19, 2008."
That's gotta be a mistake.
I find the Prismatic changes far more interesting. The massive changes to that format and bannings of cards that don't exist on MTGO make me think they're going to start offering Prismatic as a sanctionable IRL format.

That would be pretty damn cool.
But on the other note, I think they may be announcing again because of Worlds. Maybe Elves could get the axe.
As a judge, I would HATE the day we sanction a Prismatic event in real life.
From the Penalty Guidelines, under the heading Insufficient Randomization it says "Players are expected to randomize their deck thoroughly"
Good luck doing that every time you break a fetchland or a Sakura Tribe.
There would be penalties flying all over.

The only one that I would possibly want of that list of spoils is Ponder. Other wise I for one am pretty much Glad not Sad. Not to say I don't have my opinion about what else could come of.
I'm speculating, an Emergency Banning of both Glimpse And Heritage Druid. Just to slaughter Elves. Maybe Heritage will be restricted, but Glimpse is gooing once,.... Twice........ BANHAMMERED.
Of course, When elves die, goblin Storm will Rise up, Or Raffinity will be again at the Top. the way that the extended season gets new cards just like we are, since it's nowhere near as Cutthroat as Vintage or Legacy.

Personally I think they are waiting to see how dominant the Elves! deck is at Worlds to see if they want to restrict/ban Glimpse of Nature from Extended.
Just noticed something strange in the Banned Lists, has anyone ever heard of Gleemox? Why are they banning something that as far as I know doesn't even exist?

Its a MTGO promo card.
They certainly did, since Time Vault is showing as restricted, which happened after the others mentioned.
Either Gatherer is screwed up, or it's showing us things we weren't supposed to see for another 3 weeks.
EDIT: Nevermind. Dream Halls and Time Spiral both show up as restricted, neither of which saw any abuse in the 3 months that they were unrestricted.
