They have made "putrify" and they have made "mortify". The names are quite like each other and the abilitys are also quite close. MaRo has admitted that this is a kind of pattern. I thought it was about time to dedicate a thread to this.
I belive this will be the new spell:
...ify :symr::symb::1mana:
Destroy target creature or land
This is the only logical card. It have to be black because it is a removal. The only color combination in the dissension supporting black is red-black (the cult of Ragnos). It also have to destroy a land because all other noncreature permanents have been used up by the other -ify spells. Land destruction is also one of reds specialitys.
BTW: I am sorry for all the misspellings, but I have just been on "Halo-LAN" and I am quite exausted
On topic, I think such a card is possible but by no means a certainty. If it's an instant, it's pretty amazing at that cost, methinks. That might be too much playable land D in Standard for their tastes.
Just because the two cards Mortify and Putrefy both end in "fy" does not mean the Rakdos power uncommon will also end in "fy", and it does not automatically mean it will destroy a creature or land. It very well could, but it doesn't mean it automatically does. Take for instance, the Dimir power uncommon, Clutch of the Undercity(probably the worst one out of any of them, but still useful). Clutch is black, but it does not end in "fy", nor does it even destroy a creature.
So your guess, while logical, is completley speculation, and it would be kinda boring for Wizards to make this card, seeing as we could automatically guess what it is and does and there's two other removal cards very similar to it.
My speculation would be an instant that costed 1 red, 1 black, and two colorless, it would destroy a creature and make its controller lose life equal to its power or toughness. But that's just me.
Also, don't disrespect the Demonlord. Spell his name right.
Wizards has said that they do not want to add another 3 cc land destruction spell to standard which is why they added on 1 to wreak havoc

From MaRo
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled
Thanks to chaostheory90 for finding this quiz for me
when has WotC said that?? i think its ok a SORCERIE spell: 1br destroy creature and deal 2 damage to target player or destroy target land. it cant be regenerated
The answer to "when has WotC said that" is to search the articles archive at www.magicthegathering.com .
There has been like 10000 threads devoted to this topic already. The situation simply is that there will not be a creature-or-land -ify.
