I have lately received a few PM's about mod conduct. Here's just the latest in a string of examples over the past few weeks:
hey Lesurgo
I don't normally do this, but I figured an admin would be the one to go to. Lately I've been noticing that _____ has been overly rude to posters. When he closes threads, he comes way too close to berating the OP outright. I've seen severals posts of his where a similar attitude was taken against posters that disagreed with him. And sometimes he's downright mean and insulting. I don't know what the rules are for mods, but I don't think _____ is behaving the way a staff member should.
I hope you take this seriously. I didn't want to start a thread in public, I don't really think that would be helpful since speak your mind threads never turn out good when it's about a mod. So maybe you could talk to ____ or something, maybe that could help.
Anyway, thank you for your time.
I just want to take this chance without naming any names to remind everybody that we're just the friendly mediators of the forum. We don't need to be mean or use snide comments to make out points. The individual that was the subject of this PM in particular has been talked to individually outside of this, but in general, I just would like to make sure that everybody understands that, although we have power, we shouldn't do things that make us look like we're waving it around like how a kid waves around his first dollar bill.
Thanks for all of your hard work! This is just something I wanted to bring up in case anybody wanted to get any feelings out into the open.
I call ********. I'm damn tired of children receiving a warning and mistaking it for moderators picking on them. Where they see snide, I see 'to the point'. So, whatever. I guess it's just impossible to be anything but the bad guy here.
I think the worst thing I've thrown out recently is an infraction for being annoying, or something to that effect.
That said, most of the modtext I've seen is fine in my book, but some of it could cause people to whine and complain...but only if the person being warned/infracted is generally a whiner or complainer.
That said, I'm almost 100% sure I know the name of the mod who generated this complaint, and though I will not name that mod, I see little issue with it, on a personal level.
As an admin, though, I guess I have to say "consider the feelings of those who you hand out punishments to, and be a little nicer." I know I have to at times- I've had to retype several things that would have caused me to immediately infract myself for flaming if I had said them.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

This is Deraxas we're talking about.
Remember, the girl that just killed an aspect of herself before literally consuming her?
Yeah, I don't see her handling a pissing match in any way other than a duel.

There are only so many epic, psuedonatural barbarian/blackguard half-dragon akutenshai vampire balor paragons they can throw at you, right?

I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.
...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.
Then again, sarcasm should not be done unless its deserved, because somehow, some people really do find it offensive.
In my extensive experience with sarcasm, people find it even more offencive when it is deserved. Hitting close to home isn't a comfortable thing, even worse when it's snark that drives the point home.

Deraxas, Dark Maiden of Shimia,, still oddly obsessed with a mindmage.
It would seem so.
Yeah, me too.
