I'm excited. Speculation time: there are many possible good choices. Will it be extremestan? Or Highroller? Maybe even Mamelon? erimir, BenGreen, sentimentGX4...
It's not really that surprising. The MO on here has always been to try as hard as possible to ignore any major problems that come up(locking threads about them, etc), and to have all of the staff band together and try to crush any dissenting opinion. Craven really didn't fit that mold, he was more like Goblinboy, where he actually tried to talk to people and work things out. The PJ incident has proven that Binary is great at just going along with his buddies, while Craven actually has the capability of realizing that things could be improved. That is likely one of the worst decisions that we've seen in awhile, but is no doubt considered a victory for the Staff. What a shame.

Seeing as how I tried in a couple of different posts on that thread to come to some sort of middle ground with you on changes we could make that would be acceptable to both you and the mods, I'm a bit confused as to how you arrived at this conclusion.

I am no longer on MTGS staff, so please don't contact me asking me to do staff things. :|
I changed my mind and decided that this isn't the correct venue for that discussion. It's not fair to those newly appointed staff that earned their position to take away from their thread. There will be other times to take up that battle.

That would of been better 5 mins before your first post in this thread but of course little too late now....

So why not just stop so he will too? The whole 'he started it' game is never fun, espcially when it isn't relevant.
In general, I applaud these choices. The exception here is Craven, who I have never had any problems with. While I disagreed with some his modding techniques, he was very active until recently. This recent absence also has not hurt his activity too much and even so there is precedent, even at this very moment, for longer absences than his. I am also dismayed in that he was the only global mod we have right now that even came close to modding more than just the forums he was a moderator in. But at the same time, we haven't had true globals in this sense since the ButteBlues/Goblinboy/Senori/Qwerty days.
Please note though that I am not trying to take away from Binary. I have seen nothing from him that indicates that he will be anything but capable in his new role.
I'm excited. Speculation time: there are many possible good choices.
I'm looking forward to finding out, too. Blinking Spirit is vigilant and does a good job, but one mod can only do so much at once. And {mikeyG}, while an eminently apt and responsible moderator, is not a Debate regular and mods two other forums that also demand his attention. And really, I've long thought that Debate could use more than two moderators. It seems to be the kind of forum which requires some care, since situations there can be somewhat unique compared to other parts of the forum and will many times warrant different moderation than similar cases might in other subforums.
So yeah, I'm excited to see who it will be. Another person I want to add to the list of speculatory candidates is TheInfamousBearAssassin.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
If Cyan wishes to take that discussion to a different thread at a different time, I for one respect his wishes and will not press the issue any further in this thread.
All I will say is that, at the time I was offered the position, I was not aware that Craven would be losing his at the same time.

To be fair, while it's true I no longer post in Debate to any great degree (I personally felt that I'd said all that I had to say and that for the most part I was only repeating myself), I have remained a constant lurker since I stopped being a regular. Though you are certainly correct in that a third Debate mod would be quite welcome. I've already put forth some suggestions, though honestly Debate has many great members who I think would do a fine job. I actually had a tough time narrowing down my suggestions to a small, workable list.
As for the staff changes, it was quite a shock to come home to after work. A few of the changes are a bit surprising, though I can't say I have any great disagreement with any of them. Particular congrats to Binary, though.

I disagree (big surprise).
But there's no reason to detract from the moment for the new mods. Congratulations again to them all.
I just realized. Mycoloth perfectly demonstrates the devour mechanic.

btw i did it because i could. i was bored and decided to let my little med-free spree go ahead. I am bipolar, explaining all the drama that ensued after. I have problems.

Wow too bad you're leaving Craven, you were one of the best moderators IMO, you did a great job in Rulings (don't know about the others forums as I hardly visit them >_> but I don't doubt you did a great job there too ) . You'll be missed
Experiments Series: #5 (Courtly Intrigue Mafia) | #4 (Drunken Tracker) | #3 (Big Red Button) - coming soon | #2 (Pope Mafia) | #1 (Iso's Inflammable Mafia)
Mini Games: MTGS Mafia Redux II (Invitational, Evil Mirror Universe) | Unreal City
Old Games (bad): The Greenwood Affair | Blood Moon Mafia
As will I. I know I've got the metaphorical big shoes to fill.
Craven has been sent a PM detailing why this changed occurred. He is free to say as much or as little as he wants. I will leave it up to him.

He was the only one who actually attempted to make things explained.
Seems that mod's who try to work with the community aren't wanted.
Smart money is here

You already did by starting *****ing and complaining when it wasn't needed. But yet you always do come in and ***** and complain.
God forbid someone over cooks your waffles...

Well yes, I omitted some from that post (ljoss, Harkius...)
Now I feel like starting a betting pool.

It's a shame to see Craven go, I thought he did an excellent job as a Global mod.
I don't want to detract from this thread with my feelings of emo-ness so I'll leave by saying congrats to the new mods and good luck to the old.
Well good luck with your life post-Salvation
