I'm so depressed about this snowstorm, because there is no way I can drive an hour in 5-9 inches of snow and a little sleet to top it off ;_;
I so wanted to go, too, but I draw the line at risking my life to go play ^_^()
I'm heading down to Rockville MD as I type this (well, as soon as I shower and go.) As of 9:40 AM EST there is a trace coating of snow on the cars, none on the roads.
I'll bet the core of the snowfall really doesn't get down here/DC/VA until noonish, at which time I hope to have played in at least one pod. However, I'm outta there once it gets to 1".
Last year, it snowed 6" in the metro area and I did fine. The year before, I was in Minnesota, where it snowed 11" and I did fine. ("FINE" = driving blindly north on 169 and having to stop TWICE to get a cup of hot water to unfreeze my wiper blades and clear my windshield). I have a 20-year-old, rusted-out, 2-wheel-drive Subaru station wagon that seems to do fine in all but the deepest, rutted-est snow.
You'll do fine if a) you stay on the main (plowed) highways, as congested as they may be and b) don't drive faster than your guardian angels can fly. Keep your radio on so you can hear of accidents and avoid those roads. If it's dark and you don't know the area of the PR well, get a room w/other players, $80 is better than dead, injured or car totaled.
Well, I just called my store [neutral ground] and...sigh...theyre going to be closed tommorrow (not like it looked like I was going) but now my prerelease streak is over...and this set looked pretty fun to play.
