Relicanth doesn't have the time to move, and the string connects squarely with him, "That's alright, Relicanth," Jerrin says, "I don't think it should bother you too much." After all, he's a fish, he only moves by wiggling his whole body. Relicanth then leaps out of the water, aiming to tackle the Wurmple with all of its considerable weight.
Ah, wurmple, my least favorite bug pokemon and the only random shiny pokemon I've ever seen or caught, it was quite a let-down :p.

@ pet snake: For a brief moment, the two auras mingled together, then they faded away. The Nincada, however, looked better off than the Treecko. Chitin clicked into place again as the insect awaited the grass-type pokemon's next move (Harden)
-----------------------------------
@iforgot: The Starly perched in a nearby tree, allowing the smoke to billow around it, as it taunted the Cyndaquil with it's chirps. (Growl)
-----------------------------------
@ Cyouni: The pokeball bounced off the fluffy wool of the Mareep before catcing it. The ball shook on the ground, light winking on and off for a few seconds . . . . .
. . . and winked out with a light chime.
Female . . . attacks are Tackle, Growl and Screech
-----------------------------------
@ KoolKoal: As Relicanth gracefully (?) propelled itself into the air toward the Wurmple, it's trainer shouted "Oh no! We can't avoid that! Wurmple, get a Poison Sting ready for when it lands on you!" The bug took a steady stance, and pointed it's tiny little horn up in the air.
Heh, sorry about that (?) . . . it was random >_<
-----------------------------------
@ Pringlesman: The puddles quickly became clouded with dirt, but the Staryu appeared unfazed. Actually, the Staryu showed no emotion at all. With a gesture and whistle from it's trainer the only cues, it launched itself at the Pidgey, spinning rapidly through the air like a shuriken. (Rapid Spin)

@ everyone: A loud roar can be heard across the area. It sounds like something from the direction of the bay to the east, almost as if there's a giant monster. Darion (Shadow) being closer to the bay can identify the sound of splashing, and something that could have been an explosion. The bay isn't visible from the Route, the fastest path to the bay being to run off the Route toward the water.
Ryan saunters over to the caught Mareep, snatching up the Pokeball. A satisfied smile on his face, he tosses it into the air several times before shrinking it and storing it on his belt.
Looking down at Vulpix, he calls, "Good work." With a motion, he calls Vulpix back to its place at his heels.
Hearing the roar, a grin begins to spread over Ryan's face. If I can catch that, it'll help my progress immensely! Raw ambition quashes the slight hint of fear, and he gestures in the direction of the bay. "Let's go, Vulpix."
"FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU!" Donnie raged. "If I knew how to use this stupid broadsword I'd cut down that stupid tree!" He pointed frantically at the starly up in the branches.
Sindaquil, sharing Donnie's frustration, stared angrily at the mentally handicapped pidgey. The combination of taking the first hit, his opponent moving out of his smokescreen, and his inability to even reach his opponent was causing the cyndaquil, nicknamed Sindaquil, to rage.

An explosion was heard in the distance.
"What was that?" Donnie and his cyndaquil, nicknamed Sindaquil, turned their heads toward the docks. "No matter." Donnie focused his attention on the battle again. "Arg! Sindaquil, blast it with fire or something!"
Angry, Sindaquil opened its mouth to shoot a blast of flame into the trees.

Is that how we'd deal with learning new moves? And I guess that was a bit presumptuous of me to use two new moves in one post but it flowed very well :]
"Treecko! You can do it! Attack him again with all your strength so we can add it to our Collection!" Reese proclaimed to Treecko in a sort of victory speech way.
Treecko acknowledged this and gained a reconfirmed demeanor, she went and ran at the Nincada with all of her remaining strength (Pound)!
@ pet snake: The Treecko's Pound attack connects with force. A loud crack is heard through the immediate area, and the Nincada falls to the ground. It lands on it's back and twitches slightly. It's still conscious, but barely. (HP red zone)
------------------------------------------------
@ iforgot: The blast of flames rapidly died off the farther it got from the Cyndaquil. There was enough force, however to knock the Starly from it's perch. The bird quickly regained itself, and swooped in again, becoming yet another blur of dark feathers. (Quick attack)
------------------------------------------------
@ Cyouni: I'm assuming since you're here and not the Livian Docks, you ran to the nearest water's edge . . . .
Ryan arrived at the edge of the bay. From his vantage point, he could faintly see a Police boat being readied at the Livian Docks, two officers working away and what might have been a trainer standing nearby. Out in the bay, all that could be seen was a pillar of dark smoke from what was once a ferryboat, and unusually large waves from something splashing about.
"Damn, it's already here!" A female voice was heard, as two shadows came crashing through the underbrush on either side of Ryan. One was a trainer riding a Ponyta, the other on a Dodrio. They were dressed in wetsuits, and as they stopped by the water's edge, they continued. "Lace, return. I need you rested up for later . . . OK, Chance. How exactly are you going to get us out there?!" The girl said.
"Relax, Nico, it's under control. Just be glad we were coming out here anyway. Otherwise, you'd be getting pretty wet in a minute." Chance recalled his Dodrio and withdrew another pokeball. Opening it, a glow began to materialize in the waters of the bay. "Lapras will get us out there quickly, though apparently quickly isn't fast enough right now. We needed to be out there an hour ago."
The two figures start to climb onto Lapras' back . . . .
Sorry for the long description for you Cyouni. You're the lucky one who gets to witness Rangers in action. And yes, that's the Nico you might remember from before. She's an NPC now. . . . and may or may not be a recurring character, not sure yet
Relicanth connects solidly with the Wurmple, and both pokemon get damaged, but Relicanth is barely fazed, being resistant to poison attacks. "Mudslap!" Jerrin directs him, and the rock-fish swipes with its tail to throw mud into his foe's face.
At the sound of the roar, Jerrin turns his head to stare off toward the east.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
OOC: Heh. I'm just surprised no one noticed me standing there...
Ryan's eyes quickly block out the police boat, focusing on the pillar of smoke and...whatever that was in the water. His eyes narrow. Probably can't take on something like that right now.
As the two figures emerge from the brush, Ryan watches and listens. As they begin the get on the Lapras, he realizes that he might lose his chance.
He moves out a little further, Vulpix at his heels. Adopting a concerned expression, he calls out to the figures. "What happened out there?"
Just as Darion had heard the roar, Hitmonchan had thrown a punch and started more sparring.
When Hitmonchan was helping Darion off the ground again, he remembered. "I heard a roaring noise from hear the bay--think we should check it out?" Hitmonchan thinks for a moment and nods, and Dairion starts jogging towards the bay.
@ pet snake: The ball bounces off the Nincada's body, absorbing it, then sits and wobbles on the ground, light winking on and off . . .
. . . then winks out with a light chime.
Male . . . attacks are Scratch, Harden, Leech Life, and Sand-attack . . . . so I made a mistake a couple posts back, it should have used Leech Life and not Absorb. My fault >_<
-----------------------------------------
@ KoolKoal: All that can be seen is a pillar of dense smoke rising from the waters of the bay. The other trainer looks at the sound as well, then turns to you. "Want to keep going, or you going to check that out?"
-----------------------------------------
@ Cyouni: OOC: Yeah, they're kind of in a rush . . they saw you (which is why you weren't trampled) but didn't acknowledge your presence until now . . .
"Gyarados, and we need to stop it before it causes any more damage. Something spooked it into the bay, and it started thrashing about." Nico said as she moved very fluidly, climbed up and wrapped an arm around a spine on Lapras' shell. It was easy to tell she was much younger than Chance, who struggled a bit to climb onto the pokemon but made it with a bit more effort.
"You can come along if you want, but be ready to get wet," Chance grinned. When Nico cleared her throat at him, he turned to her. "What? If he stays on Lapras, he'll be fine. And we may need an extra set of hands once we get out there."
"Fine, whatever. You're on the hook if things go wrong." Nico glanced sideways toward Ryan. "If you're coming, get on and hold tight. Oh, and listen to what we tell you when we get out there."
----------------------------------------
@ iforgot: There was a chirping noise from the thick smoke that now shrouded the immediate area. Almost as if the Starly was yet again taunting the poor Cyndaquil. The chirps sounded like they were all around, instead of just one place, making it more difficult to locate the bird. (Growl)
----------------------------------------
@ Shadow: Darion comes across three trainers by the water. Two, a male and female, were sitting atop a Lapras in the bay, clothed in wetsuits. A third and a Vulpix were on the shore, apparently talking to the others. Out in the bay is a pillar of thick black smoke, based with large waves. The thunder of the splashing could be heard from the shore, but the trees prevented most of the sound from reaching the route.
Ryan offers an open smile, or what seems to be one. "Sure." He produces Vulpix's pokeball. "Vulpix, return. Take a break for now."
Reducing the Pokeball to its normal size, he clips it to his belt and climbs on Lapras. His movements aren't quite as fluid as Nico's, but they suffice to get him on. He puts an arm around one of the spikes and holds on tight. He's not falling off. "Ready anytime."
@ KoolKoal: "Okay then . . . Wurmple, hit it with a tackle attack!" The bug pokemon ran as fast as it's nubby little legs could carry it (which wasn't very fast) as it went straight for the Relicanth.
Of course Cyndaquil can see through some amount of its smokescreen . . . you just said it was like a thick fog, so I was playing it up. Also, with this many unlearned moves, Cyndaquil would be getting tired really fast.
The flares of the Ember attacks lit up the smoke, and the chirping stopped for a brief time. After a minute it resumed again, but this time it was immobile. The smokescreen started to dissipate, revealing the Starly sitting up in a tree again, watching intently and breathing somewhat heavily.
----------------------------------------
@ pet snake:
That's right, if you want to progress through to Routes 2 or 3. After this one you're good to move on, if you wish.
As Reese is strolling down Route 1, he hears a noise to his right. "Bell, bell, bell bell . . . . bellllllllSPROUT!!" A smallish plant-like pokemon comes dancing onto the path before him, and just stops as it looks at Reese. "Bell?"
Just going to give Shadow a chance to respond here first, he did see the group, and just arrived at the water's edge with enough time to act.
"You have a good grip? This is going to be a bumpy ride." Nico said as she spared a glance at Ryan. She looked young, and her bold, emerald-green eyes stared at him from over the rim of her sunglasses.
Reese stared at the little guy....Oh no, not another one, I don't think Treecko can make another battle and I know that Nincada sure as heck can't make it. He decided to run past it, this way he could continue onto the other routes.
Darion runs over to the other trainers. "What the heck is going on over there? I heard roaring," he says, pointing at the pillar of black smoke. Hitmonchan follows, but he's a little calmer.
But but but but but . . . Bellsprout was so happy-go-lucky . . . . . just kidding, and no roll necessary. You're free to begin posting in Route 2 or 3, your choice. Each one leads to a different town.
------------------------------------------
@ Cyouni and Shadow:
"We're going to check that out for ourselves. Probably an errant Gyarados. We're leaving so either get on and hold tight, or wait here." Chance motinoed toward an unoccupied spine on Lapras' back, while Nico just sighed and rolled her eyes.
Whether you get on Lapras or not, they leave the shore at your next post, Shadow.
"Pidgey, use Sand attack on those puddles until they are muddy!" Shouted Mason!
