Geoff shrugged off the laughs of the locals, but at his core, the only Pokemon he could think that could approach the power of the monsters ravaging Ageos was the legendary Articuno. Still, with a goal in mind, he headed back to Laurel City, looking for Pokemon or Trainers along the way.
Alexander knew exactly what she wanted from the beginning. "You're not the frst person that's asked about it. Unfortunately, the way the Ageos League is set up, it is very difficult to leave the Gym for an extended period of time." He paused. "They're north of Twilight City, but there's another problem. No one can set foot on the Trinity Islands without at least eight Badges. Many trainers have more, as having more than eight Badges can get you byes in the Main Event. I'll make sure to pass on your message to anyone coming here who's qualified for the League though.
Nicolette made a noise of frustration, which actually came out sounding more cute than she intended. "Of course it is," she said to herself. Back to Alexander, she continued. "I'm still going to try, unless you have a way to contact them directly. Otherwise I'm going to Twilight and then to Trinity. They're going to have to stop me themselves."
Frizz took in the destruction, but it appeared the place was relatively under control. The city was making efforts to repair the Game Corner and get it reopened under new management, but it was not a priority.
Frizz headed to the Gym, but it seemed all the Gym trainers were currently involved in battles.
Beryl made her purchases, then looked aroud and asked about assistance. The situation in El Ectri had calmed down quite a bit--the city was able to spread their staff much more thin than before. Rebuilding of course would take time, but the city was no longer in a state of emergency.
After walking east for a few hours, Geoff realized just how far it was to Laurel City from here. In his weariness, he almost tripped over a Geodude on Route 13 (Center) at the mountain foothills.
The trainer battle rages on.
ooc: Sorry about not being able to update recently, been busy.
"I wish I could let you pass to gather help. I really do. Unfortunately, the Ageos League joint comissioners are the worst sticklers on the island. They wouldn't let anyone pass, short of a meteor threatening to annihilate the entire island or something stupid like that." As far as the Gym Leader being able to contact them, Alexander replied, "I'll try, but I don't expect to get anywhere."
After hopping on Gyarados and telling him to floor it northwest, he managed to swim all the way to Twilight City's docks. There, Nicolette found a Super Potion behind an otherwise empty storage unit. Looks like it fell out of a shipment.
After Josh cleaned out his inventory, he checked out what was going on with the racing season. The tracks were still being repaired, but repairs were nearly complete. The season would resume in another two weeks or so.
Afterward, he and Beryl met in the designated spot east of the city. When Beryl asked Swift about several things related to the serpent incident, Swift answered, {Every Pokémon in the Order of the Sacred Creation has a treasured relic, each of which summon and harness the power of a specific Pokémon when brought to a particular place in the world. The King of the Order, Arceus, created these relics in case of crises such as this. The Pillar just happens to be the location of the Summoning for Virikas, Hydrix, and Yahskas. I just happened to be dispatched here for a while. I feel a little lonely without Entei and Suicune. But I digress.}
After being asked about the Chosen, Josh became a little flustered. "There's this legend in Johto that goes back seven hundred years. I could go on for hours about it, but we should do that once we actually reach Harlequin--I'd rather attract as little attention here as possible. Long story short, the legend is about a bunch of warriors, mages, and the like chosen by destiny to bond with and fight aboard the legendary Pokémon. I'll tell you more once we arrive." Swift sat down to allow Beryl and Josh to climb on. As he saw Beryl approaching, Josh pulled out the long length of rope Billy had given him for the desert expedition. "I actually want to make a makeshift harness out of this for you. Swift is quite literally the fastest Pokémon on land. I want you to hop on in front of me, so I can hold you in case something goes wrong."
Beryl nodded to Josh. "You obviously know a lot more about this than I do, so I'll follow your lead. I trust Raikou to keep us both safe in case anything goes wrong."
While Josh was constructing the harness, Beryl took the opportunity to spar with Cheeri on the banks of the river. "First to touch!" she shouted, charging in with her spear. The bear nimbly sidestepped the attack and swung an arm to cuff her in the side of the head. Beryl ducked sharply and rolled away. That blow would have hurt. She got to her feet and arranged them in the fighting stance that Isabel had taught her.
Cheeri's eyes were full of spirit as he advanced on Beryl with a series of furious swipes. She ducked, dodged, parried, and counterattacked, managing to avoid each one, then took to the offensive herself. Each one of her thrusts was knocked away by the bear's huge paws.
Swinging her spear a half-second slower than usual, Beryl attempted to throw off Cheeri's rhythm, then lunged at his exposed right shoulder. But she hadn't expected the bear to reach across and grab onto the shaft of the spear. As Beryl wrestled the spear out of her foe's grasp, she realized too late that her arms were out of position. She was unable to defend as the bear landed a swift kick to her side. Even through the armor, she could feel the impact of the blow, and staggered to one knee.
Cheeri helped her up and shook her hand. "Ursa, saring," the bear said, smiling, then picked her up in a hug.
"I should hope so," Beryl said after she was finished being smothered. "I make a point of practicing every day. What kind of a Dragoon would I be if I didn't train as hard as my Pokemon?"
When Josh had finished, he turned around to see Cheeri and Beryl going at it. "Hey, you're pretty good. Maybe better than I am!" Once the two had finished and Beryl recovered, the boy gestured toward the spot in front of him. "Hop on and brace yourself--this would be a long trip if it weren't for Swift here."

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Beryl climbed aboard Raikou and strapped herself into the harness, checking the tensile strength of the ropes as she went. "Ready when you are," she said to Josh. "Which way are we going?"
Frizz passed some time doing some intense training between Tuffie and Lukas. The fighting type had the upper hand but Tuffie's songs were always a powerful weapon. After they both grew tired, Frizz healed them at the center and went back to the gym, hoping one of the trainers in it around his level would be available by now.
"Unfortunately, Swift can't run on water, so we're going to have to go the long way around," Josh sighed. "We'll have to pass by Laurel, go around the east coast of Avalon, then head west and south to the jungle. It sounds like a long trip, but if we go fast, we can make it there in no time flat. Alright, let's move!" Once the two of them were aboard, Swift crouched down, then sprung forward in a leap designed to rapidly accelerate. Josh let out a joyous cry as the foothills and grasslands flew past he and Beryl. The yellow-clad boy did his best to make the turns gentle, but they felt sharp at such a high speed. Once they were past the hills and the beaches of Avalon came into view on their right, Josh was smiling.

Beryl gasped for breath and gulped down some water after Raikou came to a stop at the end of the first leg of their journey. She couldn't believe how far they'd come, much faster than she could travel on foot...just the very fact that Raikou existed, and that she was riding on one, was still rather unbelievable. As much as she longed to tell her mother all about it, she had to respect Josh's desire for privacy. The newspapers all over Kanto would be buzzing about it if word got out. Best deal with the legendary serpents first.
"So, Raikou, I've been thinking..." Beryl mused, "the storybooks my mother read to me when I was little also told of two other legendary beasts, Entei and Suicune. Are they real, too? Maybe you two could enlist their Chosen to come to Ageos and help us."
Josh slid off Swift's back, loosening the harness enough for Beryl to slide off, as well. "You look like I did my first time on him, too. The crazy thing is this is just the tip of the iceberg. That was slow for him." He consulted his map and looked at the position of the sun in the sky. "If we have Swift run really fast once we get going again, I think we can make it to Harlequin before nightfall. I can handle it, but I don't know if you can."

Just as Frizz is looking around for a battle with a Gym trainer, he noticed a battle finishing in the east arena, one of the trainers looking dejected as his opponent laughed at him maniacally.
Derick went to get his team healed up before heading back to the lab. Dr. Reley greeted him at the Lab afterward. "Oh...you're a bit early," she said, looking surprised. "We're almost done--we're just putting it into a format that's readable by most devices. It shouldn't be more than another fifteen minutes or so."
The time slowly passes. After fifteen minutes or so, Dr. Reley came back out with a disc in her hand. "We found out a lot of interesting and crazy things. I'll try to summarize for you. The three serpentine creatures depicted on the walls of the temple are the same ones ravaging Ageos right now. The ancients sealed them away five millenia ago, unable to befriend or totally destroy them. From what we heard on the news, Team Rocket's operation in the desert was to free them. They succeeded, though it cost the lives of all their remaining members. There is one message in particular that stood out: 'What cannot be destroyed must be bound.' I'm still not sure what it means. If these serpents are so strong that not even the ancient people could destroy them, I'm not sure what hope we even have. Supposedly, they have the strongest abilities of Pokémon of their type, and even some the world hasn't seen. The Ageos League commissioners refuse to act despite the damage inflicted on cities all over the island. I don't understand their stance--if something isn't done soon, there won't even be an Ageos League anymore."
ooc: If you have any more questions, just ask me.
As the two trainers and their Pokémon catch their breath and have a meal, Swift answered Beryl's question. {They do exist, and those books were no mere faerie tales. Entei's Chosen is clad in red, wielding a burning blade of crimson fire; Suicune's, clad in blue, wielding a crystalline blade of chilling, never-melting ice. You could stick it in magma and it would freeze the molten rock around it.}
Josh could have sworn he saw a few wild Pokémon fairly close by, but the very presence of Swift scared them off. The electric Beast continued, {Unfortunately, Ageos is very far away from Johto, the land they are sworn to defend. Unless they are called by the Great One to come out here, we're on our own. I'd certainly like some more help, but...it is what it is.}
Beryl looked around for activity after her meal, and found a young trainer staring toward the bay. When he turned around and noticed Swift, he started fleeing south with all haste.

Derick sighs a bit, it was more info then he had before, but it wasn't much extra use, "Thank you... I wish there was a bit more," he spoke as he returned the PokeTool to his wrist, "There has got to be more research I can do, there has to be more information somewhere..." He shook his head, trying to determine where to go next, he requests being able to use a computer of there's in order to do more research into this issue.
"Hey, wait! Come back here! We're not--" Beryl sighed as she realized that chasing the trainer would only make him flee faster. She returned to Raikou and Josh. "I suppose it's time to move on. How much farther can we get at our current speed before Raikou has to stop again?"
Josh got Swift's harness ready for Beryl to sit in again. "We can probably make it to the southeast coast of the bay--not too far from Magnolia City," he reasoned. "Of course, that's at the rate we were going. If you're comfortable with riding faster, we could probably make it to the jungle by nightfall...maybe even all the way to Harlequin. Just a guess. If you're comfortable with going faster, I'd like to. I love the experience of the world just flying past me."

"Considering how urgent our mission is, I can't exactly suggest we go slower," Beryl said as she strapped herself into the harness. "Go as fast as you need to...and here's hoping I don't lose my lunch."
Josh climbed back aboard Swift, the three ready to head southwest. "Remember, Swift, ease Beryl into it!" With a loud, thunderous roar, they headed toward Harlequin with great speed, sparks flying around the electric-type's paws. Once they had made it past the coastline and onto more solid ground and more wide-open plains, Josh squinted and donned a serious look on his face. "Alright, Swift--step on it!" The crackling underneath the two became louder, the yellow Beast's legs blurry from how fast they were carrying him. Swift's gait was so rapid and his speed was so great it felt like his whole frame was shaking. "Wahoo!" Josh shouted as trees flew past in seconds. To the boy, this was the greatest feeling in the world--one he would never forget.
When the trees on his left became more dense, Swift started slowing down, especially with the sun getting low enough to make westward travel difficult. The three couldn't slow down in time, Swift having to run in a big circle to safely kill his speed. Josh was a little dizzy but otherwise okay--better than being sprawled out on the ground the first time he rode so fast. "The sun's going down," Josh verbally pointed out. "We can rest here or try to make it through the jungle before the sun goes completely down. Up to you."

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
After the successful capture, Geoff's eyes catch Derick on one end, and out of the other, a trainer walking out of the Gym.
Nidoqueen's XP should be 60, must have missed it in my checking over.
Derick's research found very little directly about the serpents, but he caught word of two Dragoons riding Raikou, the group headed toward Harlequin City. Despite their intention to be quiet about leaving, word spread quickly through the city.
On his way out of town, he caught a glance of a very bored-looking Geoff as well as a passing Trainer.
The electric Beast's storm cloud grew bright, the two riders blasting across the plains at dizzying speeds. The scenery was no more than a sea of strobing colors from the pace they flew forward at. It was only when Raikou slowed down did the two of them realize they were right outside the Myrtle Jungle's north entrance, stopping right next to an abandoned Ultra Ball--what a find!
Feelix shook his head and roared--he was mad. He hurled an enormous boulder at Luxio, sending the electric-type pinballing around the walls. Brian gasped at the impressive strike.
After this battle, Frizz healed at the pokémon center, then looked around town for another trainer battle, knowing he was still far from ready for another gym challenge right now.
Beryl stumbled down from the harness, the rapid deceleration finally taking its toll on her. She knelt down to pick up the Ultra Ball and handed it to Josh. "Here. Consider it my thanks for your help. It even matches your colors -- and Raikou's, too."
Moving swiftly through the jungle, she arrived at Harlequin City and checked in at the Pokemon Center to give herself and her Pokemon a good rest. The next morning, Beryl asked about where she could find the local Poke Ball crafter, seeking to get her four Apricorns fashioned into specialty Poke Balls.
Josh followed Beryl into Harlequin City, keeping Swift on the outer limits of the secluded town as to avoid too much attention. Once he had turned his team in for recovery, he saw Beryl was already fast asleep. The next morning, he followed the young researcher, carrying on small talk while she conducted her search. "What did you think of riding Swift? I once had Ixion race against him, and estimated his speed to be somewhere between 200 and 240 miles an hour on land. I'm guessing that's about how fast he ran when we were going west toward the jungle."
"It was...unlike anything I've ever done before," said Beryl. "I guess the best way to describe it is, it felt like I was sitting still while the world was flying by around me. I could barely feel the ground beneath us, yet somehow I had no fear of falling. Pokemon are really incredible creatures, Josh. You're fortunate to have bonded with such a powerful one. Maybe I'll take a trip to visit the Dragoons in Johto after this is all over; I'd like to meet Suicune and Entei. Even just once."

Lukas learns Screech (because he has to)
After this battle, Frizz healed at the pokémon center, then looked around town for another trainer battle, knowing he was still far from ready for another gym challenge right now.
