I'm sorry for the delay. From now on I'll create a seperate thread for QBUs and it will run concurrent with the normal game. The next update will come when I can get my Internet working properly and I'm not typing from my iPhone. (Hopefully soon...)

The World of Pokemon RPG has been rebooted. Come over and check it out.
Another option is to have a battle thread for each active player, then the WPL(s) can see who needs to be continued, and any battles can be easily retraced for whatever information is necessary.
Storyline can still progress through the main thread as normal. . . just a thought.
That makes a lot of sense. Plus other players can easily read the battles from start to finish rather than having to wade through a jumble of posts and try to piece things together.

From now on, can we have the quick battle updates integrated into the regular ones? We've had no forward movement on anyone's story other than silence_dais for the last two days. QBU should be only necessary when the WPL is still waiting on most people to respond since the last full update.
Would a good system be something like this? A full update is written when three conditions are met:
1. At least half of the PCs from the last full update have progressed their story in the adventure thread or finished their battle in their QBU thread.
2. At least 24 hours have passed since the last full update (unless every PC from the last full update has progressed their story or finished their battle).
3. Raptor has time and is willing to write the update.

I'm not sure about giving everyone their own QBU thread...wouldn't that be a lot of threads? For something like Pokemon where a single battle can take 12 turns, though, I suppose it's better than cluttering up the main forum.
For ease of jumping between threads, each full update can mark the post number where that player's most recent quick battle is taking place.

That's not a bad idea.
Alternatively, instead of having a QBU sub-forum with QBU threads for each player, we could have a dedicated player sub-forum -- each thread would have all of one player's QBUs, but in addition, the first post of that thread would have that player's player card, list of Pokemon (from the "Players' Pokemon" thread), and bio (from the registration thread). It would be a one-stop forum for all information on each player.
The first post of each thread could even be maintained by that individual player instead of Raptor, because the information would all be coming from somewhere else.

@silence_dais
Yeah, the sub-forum could get large if enough people join in the next few months.
Well, I don't think it would be too much of an issue if you structure the sub-forum well. If each player creates their own character thread (which makes sense if we want each player to be able to edit the first post), then you could change the sort order to find the thread you want easily. Each thread could look something like this in the sub-forum:
[Character] Fritz du Polidori
The Most Curious Thing
...so if you sorted by "thread," you'd get an alphabetical list by character name; if you sorted by "thread starter," you'd get an alphabetical list by player name; if you sorted by "last post," you'd get all recent battle activity. "[Character]" is just a tag for future-proofing (in case, for example, Raptor wants an "[NPC]" tag for non-player trainers).
Actually, I think the QBU subforum is a fantastic idea, for a few reasons:
1) Each PC has ONE THREAD (and only one) for all their battles
2) Whomever has updated their battle will be at the top of the subforum, so WPLs can spot what needs to be continued easier
3) WPLs can more readily retrace a battle for experience purposes and battle history
4) It keeps the storyline threads cleaner and easier to read
I think the following format for thread titles would help as well, if each PC would create one in the subforum, please:
Character name's Battle Thread
(Replace Character name with your PC's name. Your forum name will appear under the thread title, which will also help with battle correlation)
******EDIT******
After seeing what Curious did with the opening post of his thread, I would like to ask that all active PCs please have their Pokemon Team in the first post, and edit as it changes. It will make QBUs much easier to conduct without having to check three different threads for information.
****************
. . . Also, as a side note, I have been asked to assist with QBUs. I will be jumping into that very soon, just so nobody is confused as to why I'm giving the battle updates instead of Raptor.
I will try my best to update QBUs whenever I am online in the forums here.
So how does leveling work? I get that my Numel jumped to level 11 because that is the level when it learns magnitude, but what if I had chosen to learn the last available move first?

Numel would have learned the last move but it wouldn't have leveled all the way up to that particular level. The level number is really just an indication of Numel's personal growth. It doesn't have any "Real" effect. (Except in the case of nonplayer-owned pokemon, I've been using the level to decide which moves to give those pokemon. Just a little shortcut to speed up the process a bit...)

When a Pokemon learns a move, will it always advance to the level at which it learns its next move in the video game? So if Socrates had Numel learn Lava Plume instead of Magnitude, would Numel still have leveled up to Lv. 11?
And if so, does that mean that a Pokemon has to learn all the moves it possibly can before it can evolve, and then put EXP into evolving? So if that's right, when Socrates teaches Numel Magnitude, Focus Energy, Takedown, Amnesia, and Lava Plume, it will be leveled up to Lv. 31 -- and then, any EXP it gains goes toward leveling it up to Lv. 33, when it can evolve. And then, Socrates can choose to evolve it at any time, or can not evolve it and still put EXP toward learning Numel's post-Lv. 33 moves (Earth Power, Earthquake, etc.)

Yes, that's exactly how it works.

No, the Pokemon doesn't have to learn all of its pre-evolution moves before it can begin putting experience into evolution. You could theoretically start immediately putting experience into evolution as soon as you get a Pokemon. However, there are consequences to evolving a pokemon much earlier than nature intended...
The first is that the Pokemon could become disobedient and/or ill tempered. For example, in the anime Ash's Charmeleon/Charazard evolved very quickly and expressed both traits quite often.
Another consequence is that any pre-evolution moves that hadn't been learned at the time a Pokemon evolves (*note* not when the evolution is "Researched" but when the evolution actually takes place) will be more "expensive" to learn once the Pokemon has evolved. This effect is cumulative. For example, say you have a Bulbasuar. It could learn Vinewhip or it could evolve. If it learns Vinewhip while it's still a Bulbasuar it will only cost 10 experience to learn the move. However, once it evolves into an Ivysuar, although it can still learn Vinewhip, it will now cost 20 experience instead of just 10. If the Ivysuar evolves into a Venusuar, Vinewhip will now cost 30 experience to learn. (Old Dogs, New Tricks, etc...)
Basically, you should have your Pokemon learn all the pre-evolution moves you want it to have before moving on to the next evolution. That'll be the most efficient course of action in the long run.

Do I have to indicate I want Weedle to work toward its evolution? It has no moves to learn so I assumed it did so automatically. Will I put a full 10xp into both evolutions or is there a discount?
Does Magneton get Tri-Attack upon evolution or will it need to be chosen as a move and have 10xp put into it?
Numel's first 5 moves take it to level 31. Magnemite's only take it to 22. Magnemite evolves before Numel. Their real level should be the same if they have equal xp. In this case can Magnemite be evolved properly taking only 5 moves? If so, would the 6th move reduce the cost needed to evolve or would it remain the same?
Thanks for clearing that up, Raptor. That's actually a really interactive system. A few more questions (in addition to Ryoma's questions):
1. Does learning evolution raise a Pokemon's level the same way learning moves does? So if a Lv. 5 Numel learned evolution (with or without actually evolving), would it level up to Lv. 11?
2. Let's say a Lv. 5 Numel learned evolution, then learned Magnitude, Focus Energy, Take Down, and Amnesia. If the answer to my first question is yes, then it would be Lv. 31. If it then learned Lava Plume, would it level up to Lv. 33?
3. If that's the case, how do Pokemon that learn a move at the level of evolution work? Magnemite learns Magnet Bomb and evolves into Magneton at Lv. 30.
4. I think this is clear in the FAQ, but I just want to confirm it. If a Lv. 5 Numel learned evolution and leveled up to Lv. 11 (if the answer to my first question is yes), and then evolved immediately, it would still not be able to learn all of its moves past Lv. 33 (when it evolves in the video game). It would have to learn evolution (with or without actually evolving), Magnitude, Focus Energy, Take Down, Amnesia, and Lava Plume (leveling it up to Lv. 33, I assume), and then it would be able to learn Earth Power and beyond. Is that right?
Thanks!
EDIT: One more question...do all first evolutions need 10 EXP to level up, all second evolutions need 20 EXP to level up, and all third evolutions need 30 EXP to level up? So a Butterfree would need 30 EXP and an Arceus would need 10 EXP in that case
