You are aware what a Pogo Stick is, right? And how the 1800s wouldn't have them?
I think pogo sticks would be a (very awesome) form of transport anway.
Age:
11 Description:
He is normal height, has big goofy curly hair and has nice, bright green eyes. He is a good kid, he is not one of the coolest kids in town but he is someone everybody likes.
Background:
Derek has an odd family life. He lives with his father, mother and grandmother. His father is always working out of town. His mother and grandmother work at one of the stores in town. Steele Clothes, because of thier occupation he is always in nice clothes and people think he is richer than he actually is. Skills:
He is an artist and a musician, he can sing, play his family's piano and play the drum his father left him.
Transportation:
His feet-he doesn't have the money to have a bike. Items:
He is always seen with a huge art pad and a pen, he uses is to draw the world around him. And his drum, it holds great value to the young boy.
Description: Michael is a friendly, laid-back boy, always willing to assume the best of anyone and taking things easily in stride. However, his apparent naivety is somewhat of a facade he puts up for the sake of others; he's much more world-wise than he seems to act most of the time, and has been known to surprise others with his insight on occasion. He often takes it upon himself to watch over younger children, especially if they are in a similar situation to his own. Though he likes to think of himself as an altruist at heart, he is not averse to more shadowy occupations such as theivery or gambling. He lets his fortune guide him, good or bad.
Physically, Michael is of average height; tough and wiry, he has put on a little weight during his stay in Brightpond. Tousled, unkempt reddish-brown hair, kind eyes, and an almost ever-present grin add to a look that older ladies have been known to call "roguishly handsome." His only set of clothes as a pair of suspenders and a jacket a size or two too large for him, both so heavily patched and worn that it's impossible to discern their original color. He also has a large, floppy, wide-brimmed hat. He is usually found barefoot, though in the colder months he will wrap his feet in cloth bandages to avoid frostbite.
Background: Abandoned (or lost, he's not sure and doesn't really care) as a child,Michael has been a vagrant for as long as he can remember, "raised" by a group of friendly hobos and taught how to survive on his own. He travels from town to town whenever wanderlust takes him - or when trouble catches up with him, as has been the case more than once. Michael usually doesn't stay in one place for too long, but has tarried in Brightpond since discovering the Under.
Skills: Years of practice have given Michael nimble fingers and keen eyes, skills he has put to great use in pick-pocketing and sleight-of-hand. But when his wits and dexterity fail him, he knows how to handle himself in a fistfight, and has no qualms about fighting dirty.
Transportation: Aside from hitching rides on carts or trains, Michael relies on his own heavily-calloused and well-traveled feet.
Items: A large sack, strapped across his back, carries all his worldly possessions: a small pocketknife used mostly to handle food and occasionally for lockpicking, whatever small objects he "finds" that may be of worth to someone, any leftover food he's saving for later, a threadworn but tough blanket, and a grey stuffed rabbit with button eyes and a smile - an artifact that the hobo who first found him as a toddler claims he was clutching at the time.
Money: 5 gold he's picked up recently and hasn't spent yet. He's saving it for a rainy day.

"Suffer the little creatures, for they may yet rise up and beat you senseless."
Went back and checked out this "Supermouse." I wouldn't say "very alike." They're both technically homeless and not Brightpond natives; the characters themselves don't have much else in common.
Glad to hear I can join in the fun now, though. But I was reading briefly over some of the threads, and I've realised I don't have much experience in this style of online roleplaying; I'm more accustomed to a group of players interacting with each other in a freeform manner, with no single person calling the shots, controlling NPCs, and the like. Of course, that kind of system relies on a level of common trust, maturity, and responsibility not often prevalent in this kind of forum, so I can see why it might not work so well here.
Anyways, I was wondering exactly how much control I have over the events surrounding my character. For example, when Michael goes to the Under, can I determine what effects it has on his possessions, or do I have to leave it up to you? Do I need to prove myself in some way first?

"Suffer the little creatures, for they may yet rise up and beat you senseless."
To some extent, you are able to control what your thing/item will turn into (it has to be within reason, however. Thing's can't grow or shrink enormously/a stick becomes a bow, etc. I do, however, control how it looks weighs etc.

She's a little red-haired doll-like girl, with a pair of brown eyes and a evershinning smile. She is curious but quite shy. She loves animals and is really scare of the rain (not to mention thunders). when with stranger she tends to anwser with one-word-sentences. Lucy is also very bad when it comes to orientation, as she gets lost very often.
Background:
Lucy still sleep in her mommy's bed (though it may be just because there's no other bed where to sleep) and is a little dependant on her, but as her mother now get's to work more and more time per day(her mother works on a farm of a relative) she goes wandering on her own.
Skills:
tree-climbing, though she doesn't do it very often because her mother once told her that it was dangerous
Transportation:
Good old walking
Items:
A little black puppy, wich she once found near her house
Uh, well, I don't see the point since in the under it'd change into a real one anyway, with better abilities and stuff. And in Brightpond it'd just get in the way.
