Falthor, Kumiko, Loire and Marius were led out of the Spire by Sem and guided round the corner to where a leather covered wagon and a pair of sturdy workhorses had been provided by his employers. There was room for two up front with the horses and as many as five in the back if personal space wasn't a concern.
Sem- Ah... I don't think we've been provided a coachman. Anyone have experience?
Falthor- I assume we're sticking to marked roads, nothing too treacherous?
Sem- The three farms are a decent distance apart but trade roads are well managed, yes.
The enforcer shrugged, hopping up onto the front bench.
With Marius, Kumiko and Sem bundled up in the back with some leg room to spare they headed off. In the middle of the wagon there was an obvious trap door.
Sem- Head for the Eastern gate, first farm we're heading to is White Fields. They mainly focus on pale grains.
**Loire seemed comforted by Falthor's reassurance, not having much experience with drunken fighters herself. Meanwhile, the taskmage re-summoned Mer to ride along on her lap, at which point he promptly fell asleep too...**
Loire - You look very young Falthor, but seem to be experienced in the ways of the world already. Have you done much traveling?
Falthor- I grew up with my mother in Greevan then got marched up to Ash in my younger days for some discipline. I probably spent most of my life in the guild city. Recently got back from spending a summer with my father.
As the wagon shifted to the smoother bit of road, Marius woke up, at least for a bit. He yawned and stretched.
Marius - Sorry about that Sem. I'll try to stay awake for the rest of the trip. I've just been pretty tired lately, but don't worry about it, things'll be fine. You can rest your hopes on Marius, he won't let you down.
The rain continued to splatter down on the canvas above Marius, Kumiko and Sem, threatening to leak through as the wind picked up. Falthor and Loire were less fortunate, the wind blowing the mounting rain through every layer of clothing and soaking them entirely. They soon found themselves within sight of their respite, however.
White Fields appeared to be a very ordinary looking farm, plenty of fields dotted with growing shoots and small flowers. Fields on the far side of the farmstead seemed to be more abundant, but it was hard to tell in the rain. As they approached the farm proper it was hard not to notice a trail of fresh flowers, as if someone had planted a haphazard trail of seeds from the trade road to the farmstead door.
**Loire had raised the hood of her cloak against the downpour, though for all the good it'd done her she might as well have dipped her head in a waterfall.**
