Maren looked about for any device that might be attached to the trap system.
Maren - "Well it looks like a combination of hydraulics and I think it's likely that the spring traps are clockworks based. If we can find the attached system that powers it we might be able to disable the trap system. It would have to be fairly large though... It might be underground. We may simply have to walk across setting them off as we go and hope that they don't reset fast enough to burn us."
Rain- i think that these must be connected to the tanks in the previous room. Maybe we should see if something has changed with those tanks. I think we should split up two here and two there. Sound like a plan?
**Gram figured he might as well do something, and quickly headed back to the other room without further conversation.**

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
The far left pad bucked backwards at Maren in the same way the two on the front line had bucked forward. The rest of the pads on that line released bursts of steam. Maren could not reach the next line.

Back in the tank room, there was a small gap followed by four more distinct gurgles from the large tank.
Levana - Any ideas? The hydraulics seem to be hooked up to the tank system from the other room. If one of us follows anon after a pad releases its steam, perhaps we can slowly work our way across figuring out the pads, tediously but safely.
Maren - "I'd like to try one more test if you will humor me. I'd like to see if the pads lose their danger if they remain depressed."
He pressed the third pad from left in the front row and kept it pressed to see if he could safely step on it after the steam was released. He waited long enough to be sure it wouldn't release a second burst if it wasn't reset.
Pulling the lever secreted near the door in the tank room did exactly what Maren had surmised. The door hissed and fell back onto a set of greased hinges as the room filled with very stagnant smelling steam, causing everyone in that room to cough and splutter as it irritated their lungs.
