Within a few minutes, they were rewarded for their efforts by a series of clicks and hisses. The door opened to reveal a long, narrow corridor sloping further down into the ground. The stone cobbles that comprised the floor were slick with water between them. To Levana's eyes, everything was tinted slightly orange.
**Levana rolled her eyes, summoning Almaric with a wave of her hand, at which point the raven proceeded to perch on her shoulder. Without a glance backwards, she picked up her skirts and proceeded down the corridor.**
Odd and Dracanis did their best to catch up to and then keep an even pace with Levana. Odd's flames continued to provide light as the group moved forward.
They soon arrived at the end of the corridor, seemingly without incident. Standing at a junction they were presented the option of progressing left or right. Levana noted the glow intensified to the left, Maren recognised a rhythmic hissing noise to the right.
**The fey witch nodded, turning to face the others.**
Levana - So it seems that whatever magic runs through the compound is much stronger down the left path. I'd venture that might be where the enchantment is strongest.
Maren - "And it sounds as if there's machinery down this path. Do we stay as a group and deal with each one or should we split up and let you handle the magic while Rain and I deal with the machines?"
Odd and Dracanis lit the way with their auras, though the occasional drop of moisture from the ceiling hissed against Odd's flames. They soon came upon a series of pressurised tanks built into the stonework. Tubes from the tanks led off in all directions, apparently running through the floor and ceiling. The water held with in the ancient looking crystal seemed slightly greyed, as if it was somehow stagnant.
There was another door near these tanks, but little else.
Maren - "Well then... It looks like they may be sealing the door shut. Let's take a look then shall we?"
Gets closer to the hydraulic tank. He looks over the device to see if the crystal seemed to be holding enough of a charge that it would shock him to touch it.
The smallest of the tanks was positioned right next to the sealed door, and the crystal housing didn't seem to be in any way charged. It was possible the mechanism predated the use of charged crystals to control machine movements.
He found one, but it was attached to a mechanism that looked like it would spray out into their current location and it was difficult to see clearly. From what he could tell the pressure on the door would be released by spraying the hydraulic fluid out at where the group currently was.
The machinist didn't seem happy about his findings.
Maren - "I've found a pressure release gauge for the door... But it looks like it would flood the water directly into this are here. It would almost certainly unseal the door, but I can't know how much water would be expelled. Also I can't promise the tank won't re-pressurize itself if I close it again. We could get locked inside or the entire tunnel could flood. I don't see any other way to get in though."
He took a closer look at the hydraulic device and pulled out some tools that he used to tinker with the machine.
Go ahead and run, you'll only die tired.
Those who might never meet are pooled together
Rain- It looks fairly complicated, let me see if I can get it to budge.
Maren - "Well done Rain! Let's find out what's behind such a wonderful door!"
He began to walk towards the hallway.
Go ahead and run, you'll only die tired.
Those who might never meet are pooled together
To live is to hope, and while we breathe, we hope and live.
Maren - "Maybe You should go first? I'm not a coward but I'm little more than a dabbler in the arcane."
He drew his morningstars.
Go ahead and run, you'll only die tired.

Come on and check it out. You know you want to.

Levana - At this point I think it's advisable if we stick together until we know more. The machinery seems as good a direction as any.
To live is to hope, and while we breathe, we hope and live.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.

Maren - "I'd rather not meddle with this until we know what its purpose is."
After looking at it for any obvious traps, Maren attempted to open the door.
