Leaving through the southern gates of Sylvan, the group got a clearer idea of what the issue with Sylvan's veil was. They were five minutes walk from the gate when night gave way to the brilliance of the midday sun. The map that had been given to Levana indicated that they would need to walk no more than half an hour before the reached the rocky outcropping that contained their goal.
**Gram seemed utterly bored, kicking a rock down the road in a desultory fashion.**

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
**The feyling mage was at that moment surveying their map in detail, scanning the surrounding countryside as they went along. If the sudden change from night to day was alarming, she showed no outward sign of caring.**
Levana - It seems like the enchantment's dwelling is very close indeed, we'll arrive relatively soon. It makes you wonder how many actually know of this location.
Behind them a crack of thunder alerted them to an incoming rain storm, looking back Sylvan was being drenched from above the rain sweeping towards them. Looking down at the map scroll, Levana noted that there seemed to be both a passphrase and a series of mechanical maneuvers required to open the dwelling.
**Levana peered at the curious passphrase to try and make it out if she could, meanwhile, motioning for Maren and pointing at the indicated maneuvers. 'Hopefully they could beat out this storm,' she thougt to herself.**
Apparently the door to the underground complex they would be entering would required a series of twists, turns and scrapes on hidden mechanisms within the stone work. It would be incredibly complex work for one person, but two machinists should be able to manage it relatively easily.
Maren - "Rain, I could use another eye on this... I think that this section interacts with the second section via some sort of clockwork... I could use your expertise in remembering these exact sequences."
Maren - "If there are any mechanical traps on them we might be able to work them out, I'm afraid I wouldn't be any help with traps of a magical nature. We'll just have to tread cautiously."
Levana - I'm not... accustomed, shall we say, to sharing well with others. But if it comes to it, I can guide us if there are any magical energies involved. My gut tells me this installation predates the common Machinists by a rather large margin, both in knowledge and ideology.
It wasn't long before the group was stood before a crevasse in the ground, a set of stairs just barely visible beneath. Behind them the storm continued to rage, slowly approaching their location.
Dropping into the hidden staircase soon found them with very little light to see by, the stairs heading downwards didn't seem to be lit by any obvious source. The sound of rain hitting soft dirt reached their ears around the same time they reached a large iron door. Tt was a lumbering beast of a thing large knots of metal worked into twists, spirals and cogs.
**Gram inspected it too, though for different things.**
Gram - "Reckon we can just break it down?"

Odd pulled out the Covetous Heart and then cast Hatred's Shrouded, prisming the spell to Fire in an attempt to provide the two Machinists with more light.
Behind many of the gnarls and knots were small levers, loops of wire and even a few pressure catches. The lower half of the door seemed to be connected to something hydraulic, the upper half more focused on interlocking gears and wires. It looked solid and complicated, Gram got the feeling directing force against the thing would jam it shut rather than busting it open.
Odd's clothing transformed into ash dusted leather, and he seemed to burst into flames. The fire licking around him like an aura of light. The flames gave off almost no heat, but were fairly bright.
**Gram shrugged and started picking at is nails.**

To live is to hope, and while we breathe, we hope and live.
Levana - Take a look at this.
To live is to hope, and while we breathe, we hope and live.
Maren - "These instructions are surprisingly complicated for their old age, give me a moment."
Go ahead and run, you'll only die tired.

He started for the stairs, he did however keep a wary eye out for any signs of ambush or traps.

Rain- We should be quick; I don't want to get caught in the rain on these steps.
Rain- It looks like some sort of clockwork is used to secure this door. What do you think Maren?
Maren also examined the door closer to see if he could understand its workings.
