**The light revealed mostly what they already knew; the ruined village, the dense woods, the empty sky. There were a handful of breaks in the woods leading to more paths, all of them as overgrown and weathered as the one they had taken. Some of the stones seemed to have been recently scorched, and there were burned patches of grass, though it was unclear why someone would be burning ruins.
In the rubble, Sly found a few artifacts, caked with dirt and age. Fragments of pottery. A small bit of a marble statue (a finger). A golden locket, smashed beyond recognition.**

Morgan- I say we double back and only come here if we absolutely need to get through a red portal. That thing is giving off nothing but anger and hate and all sort of bad vibes... that's the technical term.
Not seeing any immediate signs of dissent, Morgan dismissed her browlers and summoned a new one linked to the serpent. She had the browler stay close to her heel, instructed to make a huge fuss if the snake got any closer to them. Then she doubled back.
