Kage took the opportunity in the past to buy the level 5 dark spell Shadow Net.
As the group approached the ship and saw the man hanging over the edge, Kage was watching the land around and did see the thing enter the water. Whatever the thing was. To Kaia, "This looks and feels wrong on just about every level. This is the brother who has spent his life chasing the Yue-Yue. It would have required tons of sailing. No way could someone that gets this seasick do that. I'm expecting this guy is some copy or something sinister. Be ready for combat." He said as he blended into the forest, quieted his steps, and used his boots to leave no trail.
**Kage would have also seen a second ripple next to the ship (on the side opposite the others), followed by two very familiar spider summons appearing on the vessel's side. The dripping water suggests something invisible and very quiet scaled the ship along with them. Well, that and the webbing rope. It is rather blatant to be honest. Blatant, and almost to the deck.**
----------------
Ship's Deck
Laghairt and Emille rush up the plank with ease. The duo quickly identifies a few things they had been unable to see when they first approached the ship. The first is that there are many large crates on the ship. The second is that it seemed like several individuals were hiding behind these crates, further disguised by various blankets and tarps. This, along with the sick Ahab, is all Emille sees.
Laghairt notices one more thing, however. Namely the two monstrous individuals standing near the door to the lower decks. In plain view, no less.
The first of the two looked somewhat like several meat-filled sacks crudely fashioned into the shape of a man. The sacks themselves appeared to be made from various leathers, mostly horse and moose, and he (if it was a he) was unmercifully shirtless. Although the sight was not utterly without succor; He was wearing pants. Granted, they were only three-quarters pants lest any viewer be too relieved. The bagging of his sack-feet partially hung over the sides of his furred boots. The eyes embedded in the head-sack looked like those of a large horse, his mouth like a dagger-filled hole. Various shafts, bits of straw, and bones served as his hair.
The second looked distinctly human, a patchwork creature whose stitched, leathery flesh appeared to come solely from sapient races. A very thin human to be sure, but not an emaciated one. His black and gold hair was cropped short in a pleasing pattern, and his clothes looked the very picture of an upper-class huntsman. Although one might not that every bit of clothing he wore was crafted solely from beasts, sapients, and precious metals. Even his fine shoes were of the leather variety, although what material lay inside his saber's scabbard was still unknown.
The two creatures stare back at Laghairt. Well.**
----------------
In front of ship
**Ahab enters another coughing fit as Javert starts to head up to the deck as well. Alexis catches a glimpse of some figures standing a bit beyond Ahab on the deck, near the middle of the ship. Odd, she hadn't noticed anyone when she first walked up.**
Finally decided that Firework and Torch suit her well enough to be purchased. Sheet updated.
"Maybe not demonic ravens, but there's definitely demonic something around here," Emille said, rolling her eyes. She lashed her whip in the direction Laghairt pointed, its tip glowing with white flames that enhanced the lash's cutting capability.
Seeing that his good friend Traitorous has created a diversion, because no way would he be that blatant about his plan, Kage decided it might be a good idea to find out what sort of beast is under the water. He snuck to the waters edge, or as close as he could and tossed a shaded eye aimed to go under the boat between where the two ripples had been. He cast swathe just to be safe.
**The shaded eye reveals that there are a bizarrely large number of sharks in the water. There also appears to be a mangled mostly-eaten corpse lying caught between some rocks several yards below the surface. A sword lies near the body.**
-----
On Deck
**Laghairt's fist presses deep into the bag-man's flesh, prompting the creature to spew bits of meat, slime, and noxious gas into the Ogofta's face. The heat leaves scorch marks, but the monster doesn't seem to notice.**
Fat Monster - "Oof! It sees us!"
Thin Monster - "Then kilARG! ATTACK! ALL ATTACK!"
**The thin monster leaps away from Emille after an attempt to catch the whip left his hand sliced open by the sudden flame. The creatures come into the woman's vision just in time for her to see the thin one dash down the stairs to the lower decks.**
Thin - "Binge, TO ME!"
Fat Binge" - "But ya said-"
**The sudden upturning of tarps and boxes suggests another interpretation of the order. Over a dozen sailors - each looking at least as sick as Ahab - begin to shuffle towards Laghairt and Emille. This later group is clearly seen by any within sight, even the three more monstrous ones; half-men with cracked, oozing heads marked with a blue-black feather sticking out of each like a plant in a pot. All of the men are armed except for two of the three monstrous ones, with the third wielding a spiked shield and sword that appears to be made of folded, multicolor paper. The other two would likely have difficulty wielding anything, given how one of them appears to have crab claws for hands and noodles for arms while the other is well on his way to being a ball of eyeless heads.
Little cracks forming in the skulls of the other men suggest their transformations will soon follow.
Javert reaches his brother, but even his shouts are lost in the commotion.**
----------
In front of the ship.
**Dr. Smalls and Esyllt begin running up the plank to join the others.
One of the boxes was actually near Olus' side of the ship, prompting three of the sailors to stumble down to the dock below in an attempt to engage him.**
Laghairt - Dr. Smalls and Esyllt, I don't know if your magics can save them, but Ahab and some of the others don't seem too far gone yet.
Laghairt wiped as much of the offensive slop off his face as he can and then released the Lavagorge Pole from his arm. He swung the weapon at Binge's head.
(BP: 138)
Kage continues to creep towards the ship. He asks Kaia, "Would you like to kill the sharks? Or do you think they are innocent?" He keeps up swathe and throws a shroud over some of the things that aren't yet engaged in combat.
Alexis slowly entered the ship, trying to stay concealed in the shadows. She went up towards the main deck to inspect the scenario. The woman maintained her fade spell and cast swath to achieve this goal.
"What are you doing?! If their leader falls, this battle is won!" Aiming to lower the horde's morale by felling their leader, Emille snapped her lash toward the swordsman a second time.
Kaia - <Unless they grow wings they aren't a problem now. See you at the top, Kage!>
**Kaia soars upward, dodging an errant blow to vainly cut at the surprisingly tough feather. Her opponent, a short bespectacled man who's face looked a bit like a turtle now, swings at her with an iron blade of his own. His strike is likewise a failure, serving only to show that the sailor's flesh and blade remain all too cuttable.**
-----------
On Deck
**Dr. Smalls and Esyllt reach the others and engage the many-headed and noodle-armed sailors before they can reach the Laghairt and Emille. The latter's sister-bow flies near the dyrad, firing arrows of light - white and green marbled together, into the bodies of their foes. The arrows don't seem to be particularly lethal, but plants do grow wherever they strike. Esyllt herself tries to restore to heal the sailors, but it doesn't seem to have an effect.**
Esyllt - "It isn't working Laghairt! What about the antitoxin Dr.?"
**Meanwhile, Emille's lash strikes true again; this time it sears a gash into the swordsman's upper back. His only response is to more quickly dash down the steps, yelling more loudly than ever for Binge to pick up the pace. The latter's compliance is cut short when Laghairt smashes him in the head. Faced with the choice between choosing to face his foe, make a 'nimble' dodge, or just keep moving ahead, Binge seemingly decides to try every option at the same time and is soon falling down the stairs. Much yelling ensues.**
**Javert appears to have engaged his brother, trying his best to restrain him without making a kill.**
**Alexis is currently not being attacked by anyone, although she notices the paper-weapon wielding sailor, the beast little more than a pair of biceps with a feathered stump for a head, preparing to leap down upon the others after having climbed partway up the main mast with his hand-like feet. Something about those weapons seems familiar.**
----------
In front of ship
**Olus' opponent's face crumples, the back of the sailor's head exploding in a shower of gore. The bladed, brain-like tentacles that emerge from the opened back suggest the warrior's fist wasn't entirely to blame for the eruption, however.
The other two sailors begins to shuffle about the ogofta in a sort of half-arsed circling maneuver. One readies his trident, the other his crossbow.**
Laghairt absorbed the Lavaforge Pole into this right leg and ran after Binge. He jumped towards the monster, bringing his foot down as a stomp upon him.
(BP: 139)
Kage gave up on the blade for now, but he would go back for it. He decided to go help Olus. He cast Shadow Net at the brain tentacled man and threw his Aegis Daggers at the other two as he sped up his approach keeping swathe up.
Below Decks **Laghairt has difficulty leaping in the stairwell made for smaller men, but he manages to side-jump into the tumbling Binge.
The thin monster's rush down the stairs comes to a halt as the horrifying scene of an ogofta riding an obese bag-man like a child on a sled sneaks into the corner of the swordsman's eyes. He turns, drawing his sword at last with expert speed and cursing his luck even faster as the duo plow into him.
The swordsman falling on top of him will have to wait, for Laghairt knows full well that he has only a few moments before his head cracks against the steps. Only his feet have solid perchance in the bag-flesh of his howling opponent.**
----
In front of ship
**Kage's assault momentarily distracted both the brain-tentacled and trident-wielding foes (a mere moment after Olus' punch), but the crossbow wielder suddenly sinks to the ground as his legs meld and twist into a spring-like shape.**
Below Decks **Laghairt's sit-up smash, should he favor righting himself over connecting with his foe's face, results in the Ogafta getting a shallow slash across his forearm in exchange for punching his opponent away. The maneuver also causes Laghairt to (somewhat painfully) skid to a seated stop before the last step, leaving Binge to crash onto the floor alone. Well, not completely alone - the swordsman rolls over him and comes to a stop a few feet later.***
Binge - "We-we get to kill him, right?"
Thin - "Yes."
**The room is unlit beyond the dim glow deep within Laghairt's leg, the moonlight illuminating the top deck reaching only so far into the depths of the vessel.**
Laghairt released the Lavaforge Pole from his leg and grabbed it with both hands. A burst of flame gave Laghairt light and phased the Lavaforge Pole into the spirit world. The Ogofta swung the weapon at the two monsters and started to back up the stairs.
(BP: 141)
Olus's enlarged ape like hands closed around the torso of the exploded foe, he attempted to hurl his enemy into the crossbow wielder with a ferocious roar.
Below decks **The brief flash illuminates the cargo hold long enough for the Ogofta to get the gist of the layout. To the left of the steps are piles of long, vaguely coffin-like crates. To the right are 5 coffin-crates lined up against the side wall. A sixth crate, one made of steel and bound in chains, lies against the far wall. The crates have air holes, although they are not easy to see and the flash is short. What IS easy to see is the crate in the middle that appears to be filled with children's clothing along with some small-sized armor and a some sort of lion cloak.
The swordsman attempts to block the strike, but it goes right through him.. well, to an extent. Laghairt feels just a little bit of resistance against his staff. The swordsman's eyes, which had begun to glow with rage, dim upon being striked. If being viewed with disgust instead of hatred could be considered an improvement, then Laghairt's situation has improved!**
------------------
In front of ship **The shadow net last just long enough for Olus to toss the brain-tentacles sailor at the crossbow wielder, injuring the brainy one and protecting himself from the bolt as the two foes are knocked together.
The trident wielder charges in Kage's direction, the sailor's head bending back farther and farther as he rushes towards the dagger's source.**
"Kaia, I'm going to need your help down here. I don't like giving possessed things a good chance to touch me." With that, Kage used Shroud over the trident man and then Stealth to dash to the side and towards Olus as he moved out of the path of the trident wielder. He continued swathe.
