Olo continued to gaze ahead. He would enjoy this worthwhile journey even if no one outside of the trio did so.
Olo to Nervada telepathically- These guys are so touchy about finding the joy through the pain in life. I guess they haven't seen enough loss to know to look back positively on every life they see ended. I mean, who would want to be remembered as a painful memory to those that cared about them? If I were Mirsch, I would want to be remembered for the role I played in the survival of the children and deeds in my life, not that I died an unfortunately timed death.
Dany - :That was actually sort of a lovely point he made. I wonder if he's thinking something right now that totally undermines any of this growing respect I'm feeling? Probably not:
After having spent a small amount of time attempting to act how Olo said people do, Damek decided it was better to just be a wolf. He shifted back into wolf form and continued to run at the front of the pack. It felt good to be in the lead.
**After some time, something appeared on the horizon. It had to be quite large, considering how far off it could be seen from. If the lights in the sky were to be believed, their destination was finally in sight.**

Palasis - Yes, its been reported by others, just manifestions of the old magics.
**As they drew closer the distant object grew larger and larger...and larger. By the time they reached most were in awe.
It was a massive solid rectangular slab of crystal, easily five stories tall, 20' long, 10' thick, with gods only knew how much more of ice sunk into the ice beneath them. The colors of the lights above seemed to arc and twist within it of their own accord. Iced over flags were planted into the ice at ten points around it, marking the paths of the five leylines that crossed here, presumably for times when there were no lights above to clearly see.**

**The children got out and gathered around the monolith. Raven gave Palasis a quick inquiring look, then nodded, reaching out and touching its perfectly smooth surface.**
Palasis - Now there are. Once there were five. But they were so raw, powerful and dangerous that they were abandoned for the twelve Modern Arts, which take mixed scraps of the old magic and mentally focus them through the prism of elemental concepts. It uses less raw magic and is more structured so it is far safer and less likely to blow you us in an instant.

Snake dismounted and ran a hand along the smooth surface of the crystal. He looked at his reflection in the glossy surface and his eyes narrowed. *What have I become? Though I truly have hated the Jakari part of me... Was the embracing of that hate worth this?*
Palasis - Life, Death, Creation, Destruction and Divination. The irony is that virtually no one can use them anymore because of the Divine Cradle. The crystal is a bit like a zircon, absorbing magic from the leylines. During ancient times, assuming this crystal existed then, we can only theorize that the regular heavy use of the ancient magics acted as a counter-force to it. But with modern magics only pulling scraps of it in, the zircon has been sucking it up, and the leylines are shadows of what they once were. Nowadays the only heavy concentrations you can find are either bound in artifacts, or in the other realms where we cannot regularly call on them. Some say the Initiate church is built over a pocket of death magics but that's never been confirmed....
Sherwood - Okay kids. Quiz time. Who created the Twelve Modern Arts?
Alicia -Kaldihar Jhaeros
Sherwood - Right, and who can tell me the original names of the ancient arts?
Alicia - Life is Rin, Like the Church of Rin and Epicrin.
Felix - Creation is Kor, the My'Kurr was orginally called Kami-Kor, or Eye of Creation.
Morgan - Destruction is Gren...no names from that I know.
Rath - Death is Raes...doesn't say much for the ananke...
Sherwood - Right, and Divination is?
Raven - Lex.
**Suddenly the Cradle flared a blinding, brilliant blue and the earth shook.**

A few moments earlier, Nervada had stood several yards from the rock face; flaming sledge held over his back for warmth. He glanced about the area before giving the awesome looking rock a good staring.
Nervadalogue: C'mon cool-looking ancient rock thing... I know you have it in you.. I've got a feeeeeeling...
Nervada - "C'mon man! This is awesome! Unless it's going to obliterate us all without a fight. Then it might be less awesome. But if that happens maybe we can become super-ghosts. Thus making it awesome again!"

Ulrich- I don't think reciting the names of the ancient forces at a nexus of their power was the best idea.
