Near the edge of the warrens, slowly being expanded around as the city grows, is Warrens Park. Known to most of the warrens' residents as simply 'the park'. It is hardly impressive but it is one of the only true green spaces in the otherwise brown and grey streets.
The trees are not well tended, growing to far greater size than is reasonable, and providing a degree of shade over the surrounding streets. The flowers are kept in check by the actions of amorous young ruffians, who seem to pick just the right combination of flowers and weeds to maintain their appearance.
"That's my favorite method of convincing men to surrender. But your bird makes a good point, little girl. It is far easier to induce surrender by convincing men that you WILL grievously injure them than by actually grievously injuring them. You with your shrimpy muscles and flimsy paper weapon may find that route very difficult. Even more difficult than grievously injuring them, perhaps. So stick with what you're good at, kid."
"I know what to do. I will take you under my wing, young one. I will train you to efficiently and brutally maim your enemies as safely as possible. This will create a reputation for you as one who should not be opposed, and you will find that your Rainbow Hair and paper sword earn more respect thereafter."
The gears turn in Cee's head...Arl's overkill last time was out of fear... but if she had a guy with a giant sword with her....
Cee - Sounds like a plan! **Cee flutters down and grabs a copy of the Epicirn Cryer from Arl's satchel.** How about we go after the kidnapper bounty in Epicirn? The bird points a talon at the bounty listed on the first page.
Arl - Basically, a bounty is when the law offers a reward for capturing someone evading arrest. Like in this case it looks like someone is kidnapping and maybe murdering people and they want him/her to be stopped.
Colt laughs, plants his sword in the dirt, and leans right, causing the first spear thrust to go to his left. Then Colt simply flicks his sword in the direction of Arls spear. The plan is that the sword will tip over and land on the spear but not Arl, with its tip planted in the dirt, and the weight of it will cause Arl to drop the spear.
Arl responds by pushing the spear forward as it falls, letting the spear break apart into two hookswords, one on each side of the massive bone sword. Arl spins around, latching the sword in her hand into the sword on the ground on the other side of the blade while also swinging it at Colt like a golf club. The intent is to get the sword back and maybe cut Colt while doing it.
With surprising alacrity for a man who was just laughing a second ago, Colt snatches the loose sword off the hook without moving, taking a shallow cut from Arls attack. Colt examines the unusual specimen.
"Now that's better. I must admit, I've never seen the a weapon like this one."
Cee - You guys still fighting right? Anyway, it's one of the ancient art weapons. This is one of the spirit ones - a Soul Blade - it's powers and form are a reflection of the chosen wielder's soul or something.
Arl's remaining weapon folds into a sling as Arl swoops up a nearby rock to fire at the hand holding her weapon. Meanwhile, the hooksword in Colt's hands folds itself into a knife.
