Guard - As I said before. It was a normal night. The Codian family was visiting Sylvan, everyone was going about their jobs, then the east wing of the Manor exploded and caught on fire. Everyone did everything they could to put the fire out and limit the damage, mostly in vain. After we finished we discovered that at some point during the night several bodies in the paupers field had been dug up.

Guard - Pretty much all of it, whatever caused that fire, it just wouldn't go out. Everyone spent most of the night trying to put it out, but it was dawn before we made a dent in it. But afterwards we didn't find anything else disturbed or missing, we checked. Frankly the fire is the only reason we noticed the pauper's field was disturbed as soon as we did. Its off in a corner and the least tended to, no one wants to graverob a pauper.

Guard - If you insist, one moment.
**The guard gave a whistle and the inner gate behind him swung open on rusty hinges. Suddenly a large black carriage passed by the group, pulled by a pair of black horses, all three unnaturally silent in their movements. It passed by and went through the gate, heading into the graveyard and vanished through grove of willow trees further in.**

**The guard turned and lead them into the graveyard, past row after row of well tended markers and tombstones, through the grove of willows, and then downhill past countless more graves.
Ahead of them was massive manorhouse, ancient and faded, all carnival of countless shades of gray. It was obviously thoroughly well maintained, but all that work seemed to only just be enough to keep the place from collapsing into dust. They were lead out of the rows of gravestones, past a small iron gate, and into a garden of dead flowers and trees, up creaking steps that were older than the walls of Epicrin, and onto a porch that seemed to sigh with resignation and tremor with exertion. The door was painted a dark, dusty red, a tarnished silver knocker of a wolf gazed at them.**

**The door swung open, and a very tall, skeletal looking man with ashen skin like brittle parchment and thin brushed back hair of silver opened the door, dressed in black tailcoat with a silver shirt and periwinkle cravat.**
Shay Codian - Yes?
Guard - Sorry Mister Codan, but these men had some questions regarding the arson some time back.
Shay - ....my parents are asleep at the moment, but I could answer their questions if I must. Come in....
**They were led through an unlit, barely discernable foyer into a dimly sunlit sitting room, filled with various unsettling forms of taxidermy. A woman who looked for all the world to be the twin of the old man, save for her white, overly frilled dress, was sitting on one of the three ancient and faded sofas, drinking from a teacup that she barely looked to be able to lift.**

May - Oh yes, mother and father took us to see The Brothers of Stone. Twas well done, but when we returned home the whole east wing was destroyed. So glad we weren't here when the brute was, but so many heirlooms and masterpieces gone.
