**At the southern edge of the Back Quarter, standing in the shadow of The Spire, is a large ornate building, the last physical remnant of the Old Church and current home of the Church of the Unfailing Light in Epicrin.
The Old Cathedral is the only part of the sprawling compound the Old Church had erected in the early days of Epicrin, the rest of it razed following the downfall of the church and retaking of the city government by the people. It is three stories tall, in places, with various towers copulas and two wings. Its many stained glass windows depict blazing suns and valiant knights.
Upon entering the main doors you find yourself in the actual church, with pews and the altar from which Sera Jared addresses the local congregation. This is where you most often find the the Sera as well as where most who come for information, healing or aid can find it. Behind the main church are the guild dormitories, providing free housing for guildmembers, and storage for supplies and armaments.
The two wings of the Cathedral are reserved for the building other purpose. The Cathedral also serves as the asylum for the cities of the east. The mentally ill from most of the cities are taken here, to be held and treated by a staff of healers specialized in the maladies of the mind. While not all clerics themselves, these doctors are overseen by the clerics, who hope they can shine the light of truth on these dark and twisted minds and dispel the falsehoods of madness.**

**He is brought to an studious looking female ananke dressed in black who was reading in a small office near the back of main church room. She took the gold and dagger and began to examine it, using various powders and solutions.**
Ananke - ...it appears to be enchanted with a mix of plant and beastial magics. It can cut though most normal nonliving organic matter with virtually no resistance. Cloth, leather, wood, etc... It might have some thickness or rare material limits, but in most situations it should do the job.
Sam: "We think it may have something to do with the kidnapping that took place the other night. so if you could it would greatly help us in bring them back, and bring down the person for this horrible deed"
**Father Jared took the book and hand and studied its pages.**
Father Jared - Its a very very old dialect, so I can't give an exact translation, but it appears to be a book on magical theory, the working of modern magical arts, their advantages of over the ancient arts, and their applications. There doesn't appear to be any spells or rituals or anything dangerous in it. Oh my, yes this is in fact very old. No way this could be an original but this was written by Khaldihar Jhaeros, the elf who created the modern schools of magic ages ago. This book must be very rare.
He entered the church walking with a purposeful stride, and not seeing Sam about he approached the first priest he saw "Excuse me father, I am investigating a disappearance. Did a young man come in here asking about a book written in elvish?"
"We were working on the same case, and it seems he is nowhere to be found. If it pleases you father I would like to know whatever it was that you told him of the book. Did he leave it here when he left?"
Father Jared - I fear he did. It was a rare book, possibly valuable but only for its age and author. Beyond that it was nothing more than a book on modern magical theory by Khaldihar Jhaeros, the elf who created the modern schools of magic ages ago. Nothing in it appeared to be dangerous or beyond what is commonly known today.
He was disappointed by the lack of information that the book gave, but he was determined to carry on. ""Thank you for doing what you could father, unfortunately I can not leave the book here with you as it is not mine to give. When I find the rightful owner he will most likely want it back." He extended his hand for the book "And one more thing father, The man I am searching for is named Tenchlas Boon, an earth mage. I was hoping we might have some information on him, or who might see him as an enemy, do you know who I might speak to of this?"
He reached down and scratched behind the cat's ears. "I am surprised your cat likes me, many animals do not. I am sorry that I do not have more time to talk but I am currently entrenched in a bounty which has proved troublesome."
He eyed the man carefully, and decided he could be an asset. "Your assistance would be much appreciated, I am headed to the local spell shop to follow up on a lead, I can fill you in on the details on the way if you like."
