"Did he say what was inside the safe?"

Hera - Gold, some momentoes, personal correspondances, and more gold.

Arl - Huh. Well, unless someone has a sudden flash of inspiration I guess we'll head off to the potion shop. If that doesn't pan out.. I have a plan I guess.

"Lets head out then" Doc said

Bree didn't think that the potion shop would be the most useful of places to visit but without a better plan, the woman followed the crew and bit her tongue.

I was hoping to catch you guys on the aim, but I'll just note this here to be sure - Bane hinted that we are missing "the forest for the trees" and that the key is that the trees are "in" the forest. Maus and I are stumped and have thus decided to investigate this bounty (assuming potion shop is a dead end) by lurking in the shadows and driving fear into the thugs of Gotham...err...Epicrin until a lead pops up. Or they commit another crime, whatever. Just wanted us to all be clear on operation taking-the-really-long-way.

Feel free to move this to the Dreamer's Notions, which is the local crafting shop.

Golan and Gamble arrive at the Grand Quarter, looking for a food storehouse.

**They were directed to an incredibly tall and narrow building near the Peacekeepers Guild. Inside the foyer a clerk worked at desk and a guard sat in a chair in the corner, half asleep.**

**Gamble cleared his throat.**

Gamble - "We're here about the Deathcloak business."

**The clerk looked up with a start.**

Clerk - Oh! Oh, yes....that was unfortunate.

**Gamble raised an eyebrow.**

Gamble - "That's one way to put it, yes. So, we have some questions. Firstly, the Peacekeepers tell us they were unable to identify the body. Was anyone who worked here reported missing soon after? Or went away and hasn't come back yet?"

Clerk - No one reported missing.

Guard - I never saw Oris after that night. He was one of the city custodians that made the rounds.

Clerk - Yes, I checked on that when you mentioned it the first time Petre. The Spire got a letter of resignation from him.

"Two things. Where can we contact Oris, if we need to? Also, may we see the window the victim was ... propelled through?"

Clerk - I don't know where you can find him. Like I said, he quit, and besides I wouldn't have his file. He was a city custodian, they clean most of the city buildings.

Guard - I will take you up to the top floor if you want. That was the window we found broken. I was on duty that night. I heard a scream from outside when the body hit. I ran outside, saw the body, then saw the man in orange climbing down the building and jumping onto the roof of the building next door.

**Gamble nodded.**

Gamble - "Let's do that."

**They were lead up several flights of stairs to the top floor, which was all one large, open room, filled with crates and barrels.**

Guard - Third window from the left, east face. Been replaced since.

**Gamble nodded.**

Gamble - "What's stored in this room?"

Guard - Pickles and Pickled Vegetables, Salted Meats, Preserved and Dried Fruits, stuff like that. The perishable stuff goes on the lower floors. Longer lasting stuffs at the top.

Gamble - "Hrm. Do you know if they happen to use anything in particular to preserve the food? And if any of it went missing around the time of the break in?"

Guard - Just salt, like everyone else. And we don't keep that here. We are just storage for food the city guys from many different sources.

Gamble - "Hrm."

**Gamble took a few steps inside, glancing around.**

Gamble - "And nothing was missing after the break in? Or otherwise fiddled with?"

Guard - Nope, everything was still sealed. Might have been a barrel or crate missing, but I doubt it, the man in orange was seen leaving without either of those things and, honestly, its just food.

Gamble - "Well, I suppose it's possible he's putting things into the food, right? We've been tracking his movements leading up to this break in, and in the weeks before he seemed to be amassing potioning and herbalism ingredients at least some of which seem to be toxic."

Guard - No, he checked, everything was sealed. We took samples and no sign of tampering. I mean, security here may not measure up to all the other city buildings, but we aren't THAT bad.
