In the Western Plains, north of Sylvan and some leagues away from the forests, is the Shimmering Palace, the central seat for of the Fraternity of Mages. From a distance it is bizarre to behold; any onlooker would only see a hilltop wall painted in a hundred colors, blending and twisting into each other as they shimmered under the sun. Some might take it as a mirage, but upon closer inspection they would find that the wall is true and real, hiding behind it a magnificent palace of marble. Or at least it will be some day, once complete. Currently the palace is composed of a two-story cylindrical building, adorned with ramps, ladders, and construction workers.
Although still being built, the authorities of the Fraternity of Mages have already made themselves comfortable at the Shimmering Palace.
"Indeed, it seems to be. We should inquire about the location of his room." Christov walked to the counter "Excuse me, we are searching for the room of one called Nast'arkan."
"AH i remember the end of the joke!!! So a giant and a vampire walk into a bar, the vampire says 'I need to get a date' and the giant replied 'no you need to get bloody married!'" Yoko then let out a loud hearty laugh! " Get it? blood? bloody mary the drink!" he continued to laugh. His tiger sighed and layed down
**The man on Christov addressed, a short mage in a blue tunic, opening his mouth to reply but was cut off as Yoko began booming in laughter at his own joke. He blinked for a moment, then continued a bit warily.**
Mage - "I'm not really sure...he was one of us, one of the mages who were working here. We all got along, better than you'd expect a bunch of arcane prima donnas to. Then one day we all wake up to find he's killed Taela and vanished."
**The mage's frown deepened.**
Mage - "It's really a tragedy...I always thought they quite fancied each other."
**The room was small and exceptionally tidy, what few possessions the mage owned organized as neatly as possible. There was a small bed, a rather nice rug, a shelf stuffed with books, and a few potted plants that didn't seem to be doing so well. Other than that the room was bare.**
Christov went to the bookshelf and went through every book looking for any titles that looked out of place and leafing through the pages of each book to make sure there was nothing of import in between them.
**Around half the books were definitely magical texts of some sort, but far too technical for either of them to understand what they were getting at. The rest seemed to be a mix of novels. There didn't seem to be anything hidden between the pages of any of the books Christov checked.**
Christov went to the potted plants and smelled them for anything strange that might have caused their poor state or if it was simply negligence. He lifted them up to look under neath them and at the pot themselves.
**The pots were overly ornate and even seemed to be enchanted. The soil seemed strange too, not like any normal dirt you'd find in the Plains. As for the state of the plant's health, it was difficult to say. If the ogafta had to guess, he would say that whoever was taking care of them simply wasn't very good at it.
The rug resisted as he tugged at it, seemingly held down by some light magical force. It came up without too much trouble, though nothing was underneath but floor.**
"Nothing yet, enchanted pots, and magic soil." He said as he went over to the bed and shooed Kuein off of it so he could search through it, and through the covers and in the pillowcase, he lifted the mattress, and looked under the bed as well. He also smelled the linen to see if he could pick up his Prey's scent.
**All he found were covers, a pillow, thea mattress and the underside of a bed. As for scents, there really didn't seem to be any scent. All he could pick up were the two people in the room, the aslanyr and a faint whiff of ozone. Every once in a while, the scent of the people and cat would vanish entirely, the faintly electrical smell becoming stronger before the people and cat scents began to filter back in.**
"I'm getting the feeling that something in this room cleanses scents... Also there is the faint scent of electricity. Brace yourself for my transformation so that you will be able to withstand the fear. Christov cast Eternal Hunter and sniffed around trying to find the source of the electrical smell.
