"It's being struck by lightning! That can't be good! What kind of madman would live in lightning!?" Voli trusted Jebidiah to keep him safe, which is the only reason he hadn't shifted and ran. But this was insane! Voli's trepidation had grown larger as he was dragged higher in the crazy building. When they were outside on the rafters, he was hidden behind Jebidiah.
"Then drag over these spares and take them with you. I haven't time to explain this sort of thing twice!"
Tesla rolls out the other two prototypes, which look much more piecemeal and cobbled together than the first two, as though the inventor had been running out of parts. Then he begins to lock up the shed.
Approaching the interesting mix of people, Jebidiah looks at the piecemeal contraptions. "Those don't look too terribly finished. Let me see what I can do while you two fill us in on the specifics." Jebidiah pulls out his tools and some odds and ends trying to make the 'spare' packs a bit less rickety and parts less likely to fall off.
"And I am Jebidiah Badash. Pleased to make you acquaintance. My cowering companion is Voli." After he finishes enough tinkering that he is confident they won't casually fall apart, he picks them up and puts one on Voli's shoulders and the other on his shoulders. "Let's move out shall we? We can talk more on the way, should you like." He said with a smile.
**Gamble had been in Sylvan long enough to know not to question someone's age. Maybe this kid was a vampire? Maybe he was cursed? Maybe he was just some kid genius? All Gamble knew was that he was better off acting like nothing was wrong.**
Gamble - "We're trying to run down some information about a disaster that happened a few years ago at the Brass Jacket?"
**Again, Gamble had been to Sylvan way too many times to ask what the unsettling child-being meant. Maybe it was electricity! Maybe he's going to snuff out all lifeforce in existence! Sylvan trains you to understand that it not your business to stick your fat nose in.**
Gamble - "Well, is there anyone working here who used to be involved with the Jacket in any way?"
**They found them in one sweltering, smokey section of the vast basement of the rectory, a half dozen young men stoking furnaces, cleaning anvils, switching out quelching barrels and turning tong that held items in the fire.**
