The commanders had woken and arranged all the troops, urging people into their armors and positions. Instructions were to start at sunrise, though darkness still lingered under the woodland canopy, the morning sun held hostage beyond the foliage. The world seemed even darker near Greevan, where less light penetrated through the heights of the massive Titan trees than elsewhere in the forest. "Hope we got better luck getting in than the dawn..." muttered one mercenary.
The squadrons all gathered, positioning themselves according to the battleplans.
In the west gathered team blue. Arro, Lumarin, Grehym and Sling were joined by two other mercenaries. The first was a hulking elf dressed in leather armor and with a scar running down each shoulder, the straightness of the design suggesting it was self inflicted. His lips were curled into a snarl, and in his hand he carried a long wooden mallet with a head of stone that burned with a blue aura. The other was a nadrask with a hairstyle strange even for her kind: She was bald, but donned a wreath from which dangled curly hairs of all sorts of colors, most hanging down to her shoulders. She was armed with a pair of footlong iron daggers, and accompanied by her bondmate, a perching duck. With them was also Markur'shal, who, surprisingly, was actually an elf. He was lithe, without a single piece of armor on his body, and carrying a lengthy pike.
In the east was team red. Eizen, Gerr, Magnus and Bleu had a single mercenary with them, a human in his sixties, clad in brilliant bronze armor and prepared with a shield of glistening iron and a sharp battleaxe. The arms all carried the signet of the warriors. The five were in the care of Maeve Landry, an elven warrioress dressed in a chainmail shirt and a plated skirt. She came ready with a longsword held in both hands.
The mass in the center consisted of all the others, with Darry and Ernest at their head. Ernest had dressed himself in ill-fitting platemail that clearly wasn't meant for belly of his size, while Darry was still clad in the rusted green cuirass. He was in the midst of a slow and stuttered speech when Ernest cut him off. "**** it, chaaaarge!"
**Lumarin unleashed a savage yell and began charging, Luminar in one hand and Dawnbringer in the other. He fell in step with the female nadrask, casting Lens as he watched out for their enemy.
Nadim charged into the fray with the rest of the large purple group...well...charged is too a strong word. So is ran, or rushed...or walked. Okay, technically he sauntered into the fray.**

Arl remained silent as she focused on the task at hand - casting Inner Champion (Paper Knight) as she readied her swords-turned-halberd, all while moving towards the enemy in time with the rest of the wave. She prepares herself for the arrow barrage she thinks is coming.
Eizen donned his multipurpose artillery platform and loyal ally (Gerr), carrying the porta-turret on his back for the Greel to ride on. This would hinder Eizen's melee prowess if he actually had something like that. He also summoned a pair of spider monkeys that emerged from his shadow. These monkeys will let themselves be picked up by Magnus or Bleu should they desire to wield them in battle. In anycase, Eizen is not at the front of team red as the group heads off into battle.
Juris rushed forward amongst Team Purple, running like a madman on fire. He held his truncheon with his right hand, low and ready to strike at the enemies legs, and the Lawgiver in his left hand, which he braced against his left arm to be ready to block any incoming melee attacks. He had never felt such a surge of raw energy or power.

Arl - Colt! At this rate you're going to be running ahead of the entire army! Maybe you should switch to a slightly slower charge? A brisk yet confident gait perhaps?
The sprinting child, still expecting an arrow rain, was starting to fall behind her vigorously running teacher. <Also maintaining Paper Knight, which she will be doing until noted otherwise.>
In amidst the rest of team blue, Sling charged forwards pistol hanging naturally at one side. With Arro shadowing Lumarin, Sling decided to do the same for the other heavy sword wielder of the group, Grehym.
In the throng of team purple, Ulrich charged forwards, not yet drawing his weapon. He found himself running level with Arl, giving her a quizzical look for a moment before continuing on.
Sum'era
When she heard the call to charge go out, every fiber of her being tingled and then bust into the sensation of fire running through her veins as her body exploded into action. She heard Arl's call to Colt just as she came up beside him. They ran next to each other in a deadly rhythm of flesh and steel. She glanced back at Juris who was just behind them "F*** justice, for glory!" Her cry came out throaty and full of passion, and a little harsher than she intended, so she adds a wink to the end for the peace keeper.
**His hands and sword crackling with electricity, Alec made his charge--not the fastest of the group, a little bit behind the others really. He ain't cannon fodder.**

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
Bree got a firm grasp on each katara and fell to the side of Colt opposite Doc. The woman ran near the mans pace, allowing him to lead the charge but staying close at his side.

Hearing Bree's obvious attempt to egg Colt on, Juris tries his best to make the warrior feel better about the situation, but the good mannered attempt doesn't come out quite right.
Juris - Leave him alone Bree, it's not his fault he had help in defeating the Crocodile!
Magnus moved with the group. Not really yelling or chanting, he maintained a level expression. He was focused on his task at hand. He stayed in the midst of the group, not seeking to be fodder. He waited for a target to engage.
For now Bleu used Tint to make her skin appear tan. She stayed by Magnus yelling with the people. Her blood filled with the energy of a fight and she was ready to end another oppression.
Colt knew what Bree was trying to do, and it just reminded him of what an effective combatant she was, a trait he found attractive in a woman. But then Juris reminded Colt of the one man in Bakara that he truly despised.

Sum'era
She let out an exultant laugh that seemed slightly out of place in the war charge "We shall find more than our share of glory this day!" Her cry had a wild edge to it and to those who looked upon her it was as if they were seeing her for the first time. She wasn't a beautiful woman dressed up to play at war, she was an avatar of battle. This is what she was built to do and in this moment she was truly alive.
The charge was largely uneventful and uninterupted, and the mass of mercenaries reached the blockade with almost no resistance. The elves on guard had noticed them from the start and loosed some arrows, but the arrows were absorbed by the dim dawn and seemed to vanished into the darkness. Before too long everyone was at the blockade proper, a long construct made of overturned carts, carriages and various furniture, all stacked to a height of nearly twelve feet. While the assorted debris formed into an efficient wall, it made for easy climbing.
Gerr at this point hopped off Eizens back, not wanting to exaust his friend. He climed to the top quite nimbley.
Doc took his time at the wall to pull a vial out of 'reds bag' and studied it to see if he could use his potioning skills to figure out what the vial does.
Sum'era
She met the wall at a full run easily hooking her shield onto her back and sheathing her sword. She jumped the last few feet to close the distance and skillfully scaled her way up, only to redraw her sword and shield at the pinnacle. At the top she quickly surveyed the area before her and looked for her first foe. If she finds one she immediately charges them. (assuming there are no obvious hazards in the way.)
**Grehym, in step with his cohorts, let out a furious roar as he hit the blockade at a dead run, and with little resistance from their adversaries, he began to climp the wall.**
**Alec climbed the wall as best he could with his sword in his hand, mindful always to look if people might be above him.**
