Xen felt a little bad as he sat up in the stands watching the matches. He hadn't held back much at all against his last opponent. He brushed the feeling off as he recalled his match against the Chaplain. You can't always hold back.
Aramil's working his magic... Ah there's that interesting fellow from before, Oreo was his name. Hmm, he's fast with gathering his mana...
A girl that Xen seems to remember having dueled once before sits down not to far from him. She is carrying a parasol. However she doesn't seem all that interested in the matches below as she appears to be reading a book of some sort.

"As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero." -- Varsuvius, Order of the Stick
With his match finished, Roger walked up to the stands to watch the other matches, and maybe speak with some of the spectators and competitors. He wasn't sure where the viashino he battled with disappeared to, but he was interested in speaking with him. I could have killed him. I... wanted to. Roger shuddered, not because of the snow, but from the thought.
~~
The mana was welling, power surging, and a voice was nagging at the back of his mind. "Don't stop, kill him! Kill him and feast on his life." The spell was ready to launch, he was releasing it. It flew toward the viashino as an unstoppable torrent and then... and then... he stopped it. The voice faded to the back of his mind, but he still felt strange. He know knew what that feeling inside of him was; it was hunger.
~~
The games before Roger were in full action. There were many mages particpating in this tournament. He was surprised to see that many people he knew who were partial to the arena were not partaking. Lots of people he had never met or only seen in passing. This should be interesting. He half-watched, trying to size up the competition at least a little. However he couldn't stop thinking about the hollowness in side him. Why did I want to kill him?
Roger snapped out of his stupor and turned around to see a familiar looking girl, one he once faced in an arena match. "Hello Tilia." He looked her over. why wasn't she freezing? "You look... cold. Aren't you freezing?" Roger clutched his woolen cloak around him tighter, the wind bit worse up in the stands.
OOC I'm assuming she is in her normal 'silks and style' attire.
OOC: indeed she is... though she also has a fashionable shawl around her as well.
"Actually I am quite comfortable. Why do you ask?" Tilia says looking at Roger rather curiously.
OOC2: keep in mind that I am invisioning MTG the RPG clothing styles as sort of Middle Ages period... as such I imagine Tilia as wearing clothing very similar to what a noble woman of the Middle Ages in Europe would wear. Basically, this means that during the winter, she does wear furs when appropriate, and is indeed wrapped in a considerably hefty fur Shawl as we speak. However under that she is wearing a much more casual, yet warm high quality outfit. I am imagining something along the lines of a Woolen outer garment and a more silken undergarment. So she kind of dresses in layers for this event.
Krensae finds (makes) a spot for himself to sit. People disgruntled at his forceful move hold their tongue when they see the glint in his eye. That spell. If I didn't have that changeling to stall momentarily, I believe he would have killed me. I've done little but lose every fight I get into. He silently thinks on the shame he'd slowly accrued. Not all losses were for nothing, though. He muses while caressing his sword. I think the next time I go shopping, I should drastically overhaul my array of spells.

"No reason... Well, it's just that I feel cold and I'm wearing twice as many layers as you." Roger never hated winter, he was still unsure about what made this one any different. Perhaps it was being in Estark that did it.
"Well, I have never really been as affected by Estark's winters as most people for some reason. I mean it does get cold, but I just don't quite feel it. In fact most of the furs I am wearing are just to make other people around me feel more at ease." Tilia explains.

"As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero." -- Varsuvius, Order of the Stick
"You could go with less? Yeesh, I'd be freezing to death wearing as little..." Roger was quite sure there was something more to this girl. She resonated with black mana too well. But such questions were rude and not worth getting slapped for. "Anyway. Are you participating in the festival?"
"No, unfortunately I am not. After the last tournament I decided to take some time off of Arena battling so that I could re-evaluate my tactics and decide what really matters when it comes to a duel in the Arena as well as more important battles." Tilia offers.

"As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero." -- Varsuvius, Order of the Stick
"Perfectly understandable. I've found that the arena is a place for sport, being good at it isn't as important as making something of yourself. Sure, if the two of them coincide, all the better, but I wouldn't bother focusing on the arena. A life of fame and glory might be great, but if you lose once... Why, you lose the crowd."
"Right, which is why for now, I think I will be refraining from participating in the Arena. At least until I have built up some more... strength." Tilia says.

"I would like that Roger. I would like that very much." Tilia says with a smile on her face.
OOC: though I don't think Roger and Tilia ever actually faced each other in the Arena. If memory serves, they instead were teammates in a sort of two headed giant affair.

Tilia looks around the stands, then notices Xen... she thinks for a moment, then suddenly realizes who he is and says "Oh its Y-O-U" with quite a bit of disdain.

Krensae notices Roger and tenses. He wouldn't attack me with this crowed around me. I have to many people I can throw in the way of an attack. Instead of, I don't know, getting everyone killed around us, I'm pretty sure we can overpower him physically if it came to that. Outwardly, he settles for a nod in Roger's direction.
OOC: When I think about it, Krensae stands out just a wee bit. I should make a note to not do any quest that requires stealth.

Xen tilts his head at Tilia's remark and looks her in the eyes while giving her a warm smile saying, "Yes, it's the stupid forest-mage as I recall you saying. How has your path been since we last met, Tilia?"
"Why so stiff? It's not the cold is it? That certainly seems to be my problem at the present. I just came over to apologize. I got carried away in the heat of battle. Heat. Ha, isn't that funny?" Neither of them were laughing. After an unbearably long silence he said. "Well, I'm sorry."
Xen nodded to Tilia, understanding in his eyes saying, "Trust can be a hard thing to earn. Though I still wished you wouldn't be so judgmental of druids without at least trying to learn more about them. Remember you can always learn more if you keep an open mind."
"Learning More huh? Well, that is all and good, but I don't really think I want to learn what Forest Mages have to teach truth be told, but one never knows." Tilia says turning back to her book and starting to read again.
