Hearing Squee's introduction Xen stood up in the stands and calmly made his way down to the circle's neutral box. Keeping his breathing steady Xen thought,
My opponent is going to be difficult. Many of his spells are similar to Aramil's. I wonder how I should proceed with him in this match...
We all know the drill. Roll a 20 sided die and pray that you get the high roll.:D
Xen stepped into the Arena and noticed how quickly Roger drew his mana to himself.
I truly do not know how to start with him. Though he had been afraid of that one creature...
Heh, just enjoy this fight. You know he has counter magic so start out strong and see where that takes you...
Drawing upon the power of the forests Xen brought his right arm up and pointed at Roger, the barest of grins cracking his face. Then with a bright flash of emerald light, a majestic Stag walked out of Xen's mirage and to his side.
Laying his right hand on the stag and called to Roger, "I hope I am a proper challenge for you Roger. Good luck."
"Not again... Well, you'll be a threat now that you have... THAT..." A tendril of black lightning shot out of Roger into Xen. The lightning drained Xen's life and gave it to Roger, Roger began feeling alive again, especially after being returned to normal so soon. Before he began moving he also sent a repulsion blast out to the magic in front of him. A small spirit gave him assistance before fading away.
A second orb formed and joined the orbit. "I must admit, this stag is quite the problem."

Xen gripped himself as Roger's spell tore into his essence draining him ever so slightly. Breathing heavily he flung his arm up pointing at Roger causing his stag to charge.
Then connecting with the forest again, Xen summoned forth an elf that began walking from his mirage to the Arena floor...
OOC: Shipping the turn. I hate that this match came down to a die roll. /sigh
OOC, I agree completely, I'd feel the same way if you went first, not much we can do about it? At least it's the difference between a rare and a mythic... (and there are hardly any usable mythics anyway)
Roger blasted the mana source back to it's owner's hands. The tendrils that were last aimed at Xin fired at the elf, pulling out it's life force. A pair of Roger's gems dimmed. Then, once Roger began moving again, an aquatic orb formed and began to orbit around Roger.
He's using a potent combination here. Measured responses to maintain control. I wonder what else he can teach me?
Xen finished the thought by reforming his bond to the forests. Then channeling the mana he once again summoned forth an elf. At least that was his intentions as he was well aware of the capabilities of blue mana from his past quests.
Regardless of Roger's actions, Xen urged his stag to attack the man attempting to stem his life gain.
I'll need to adapt to this strategy. My current magic seems to be lacking against it...
OOC: As is the case with all counter based strategies: I repeat the actions and ship the turn.

Roger, again stopped the forest and elf from forming, blasting the pair with a quick counterspell and a wave of disrupting magic. When Roger began moving again a silver sphere appeared. One ressonnating with the magic of the cabal coffers. HE was running out of options now and needed some sort of reset. Roger cast a blue spell that cleared his thoughts. It restored his spells and made him feel much more secure.

Remember to do a role playing of your counter magic and such as well, please. As it stands you needed to have used a third Phantasmic Spirit Guide to produce the quad blue necessary for Counterspell and Boomerang on my turn. Also please indicate what you tap in your out of character status information so I know what is properly tapped and untapped. This isn't a warning like the last match just a request to keep the game state clear so I don't have to warn you later.
Feeling ready to call upon more mana, Xen waited for but a second to think. Nodding to himself in making his decision Xen raised his hand pointing to Roger. Obeying the mental command the stag once again charged the mageslayer. Before connecting to his mana Xen thought once more,
I wonder how he will react to this land?
Focusing his mind Xen drew upon a dull gray energy revealing a mirage filled with not forests this time but a gloomy alley. Drifting throughout the alley were ethereal spirits. Each spirit appeared lost and in search of someone.
OOC: I have responses depending on what you do here.
Reeling from the blast yet again, Xen steadied himself before tapping into his single mana source. Slamming his fist into his mirage Xen then raised his other arm pointing to Roger. A small whisper left Xen's lips followed by a surging wail from the spirits as they burst forth from mirage burying themselves into Roger. There they roamed seeking the taint that had spread to the lands. Nearing the source they let out a scream that echoed through the stadium as they attempted to drag the land with them into the after life...
Sac Ghost Quarter targeting Urborg on your upkeep.
Roger saw what the ghosts intended and put a stop to it. A flash of light and the black orb vanished back into Roger's mind. The ghosts whaled and faded away into nothingness. Roger allowed the dark orb to reform, deciding now was a good idea to actually do something. He empowered his silver sphere with magic and summoned a monstrosity, smelling of death.

He has a strong fighting style that thrives in one on one combat. Yet, there are holes in his methods. Although I do not have the spells to beat him, he has shown me that he can be manipulated. Alas he has shown me all that he can do, at least all that I could get him to reveal. This match is over...
Xen stands up easing himself from his fighting stance releasing his summoned stag. Then stepping back into the neutral box with both palms faced down in sign of concession, Xen bowed his head with his eyes closed to Roger.
"Well fought, Roger." whispered Xen, a hint of amusement in his voice...
Roger was focused on a rage that had begun to rise inside of him when his opponent... stopped. The stag, the one he couldn't touch, faded away, and Xen stepped back into the neutral zone. Roger was about to launch another arc of draining lightning and couldn't stop it. He fired it straight up into the sky, it blasted into the protective ring and sent purple sparks blasting though the inside of the arena.
He calmed himself and looked over at Xen. "Well fought, Xen. Well fought." Well, THAT was annoying, this Xen fellow could be a powerful ally. Roger bowed to his opponent in respect.
Xen returned the bow to Roger slightly deeper than Roger had, a sign of recognizing the victor. Then rising from the bow he turned to the arena stands bowing to them four times, one bow for each of the four winds...
-----
Walking into the center, the circle master raised Roger's hand into the air declaring him the victor of the match which was met with a roaring applause from the stands.
Roger wins the match gaining .5 experience to be awarded when he returns to Estark. Xen is awarded 1 experience for participating in Festival also to be awarded when Xen returns.

Before the two could leave, messengers from their houses came to their side requesting their presence at the House Master's tent...
My opponent is going to be difficult. Many of his spells are similar to Aramil's. I wonder how I should proceed with him in this match...
Edit: Wow. Fate really hates me right now. >.<

A silvery-blue orb appeared next to Roger. It began to orbit in him, seemingly agitated.
