Suven strides up to his half of the circle, stretching an arm over his head, then the other. He stretches to prepare his body for the pain that it will most certainly be feeling. As his feet spread across the ground, they push piles of fluffy, wet snow with them. Last he cracks his knuckles expectantly and pulls his club to his side, peering across the circle to his opponent.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
Aggron jogs into his half of the circle, moving quickly to keep warm. I'd better finish this and get some kind of a wrap soon, or I'll freeze out here....
He looks at his opponent. That's one big human. Hope I can take him.

EDIT: If you've never run into Aggron before, check his character bio--he's a little different from a typical mage...
OOC: You get to start
----------
Okay, seriously. I know it's Christmas and all, but could you please try to post every 24 hours or so? Waiting for you to post is making me a little neurotic.
OOC: Very sorry, I'll be better starting on the 26th, so far its been preparing for Christmas/attending parties/catching up with friends that are back from college. So, in 24 hours we'll be down to only one distraction.
Suven stares at his opponent with some curiosity, but says nothing. Instead, he gets straight to business, plucking a memory of his forest home and harnessing its power to summon a small elf to his side.
Suven shifts around uncomfortably, not because of the loss of his elf, but because his lizard of an opponent seemed to be speaking into his brain. Is this some black mindmage, he wonders silently. Then aloud, "You'll have to waste quite a few resources to stop me from starting strong," Suven announces with a grin. He uses another of his memories to summon two more elves.
Edit - 12/18/09 - I completely forgot to post the Tournament Match details:
* Starting life totals will be 20. Healers are on stand-by in case mages are too stubborn to acknowledge defeat before the finishing blow would land.
* Life cap is 30.
* Satchels will have time to recharge in between matches.
I know it's usually 15, but apparently we get more in this tournament.
IC: Aggron frowns at the new elves. 't have much choice. I can't kill them all so easily. I suppose I'll just build up my own resources.> He pulls mana from his old rb and a fresh one, and it clears to a metallic sheen as he shapes it.
Suven only smiles, and uses all of his mana to cast a more impressive creature. A woman with clothing of light green mana daintily touches down in front of his elves, as if presenting herself as a target to the metal lizard across the field.
Aggron narrows his eyes, looking with magical vision at the new creature. <That's am impressive summon...What's your name, anyway?> He pauses to think. <But if that's your strategy, I have to deal with those elves more aggressively.>
He summons another orb, then shapes a creature with each hand. On one side, he forms a mass of dismembered parts; they seem flimsy enough, but they stay put. On the other side, he forms the same goblin that killed an elf before--and it behaves in just the same way, as Aggron hurls it at one of the elves, destroying them both.
Played 1x Swamp, 1x Severed Legion, 1x Festering Goblin, impaled the goblin to kill the elf. That'll do it, whether or not you Giant Growth in response. I also assume that the idol lives through my upkeep, and I think you have end-of-turn action, but my turn's over anyway.
As the zombie tumbles toward an elf, that elf quickly gives Suven some of its mana which Suven uses to enlarge it to an immense size, making it capable of surviving the disgusting goblin's death. The giant elf rubs of the popped zombie's remains quickly as his skin had started to smoke under the filth.
"My name is Suven, uh, Mindmage," he hazards a guess at what the strange mechano-lizard should be addressed as. "And I appreciate you leaving my Muse alive, I have plenty of ways to take advantage of her." He says with a bark of laughter. In a flash Suven summons two bears to his side, their fangs bared (OOC: er, pun not intended) in snarls toward the pile of undead across the way.
OOC: Starting my turn:
Suven closes his eyes and focuses on his far-off homeland, increasing the amount of mana he can call on. Then he folds his arms across his chest smugly, motioning for his creatures to attack. The bears and the woman oblige, charging Aggron down.
The bears maul Aggron and the muse lashes him with whip of green mana.
Suven only grins in response to Aggron's claim, then he spends all of his mana, and twin horns bellow through the arena. Two wolves are summoned; they promptly inspect the surrounding snow, digging their noses around in it and rolling onto their backs, like trained dogs.
As the muse is completing her dance, Aggron lashes out with his mana at Suven's head. 't like seeing the same spell a dozen times. You won't cast it again this match!>
OOC: ExtirpateGiant Growth in response to the untap trigger. I'll take the rest of the turn after I see what you have...
-------------
OOC: That's...actually exactly what I'd guessed from reading your old quests. I'm not sure how this will play out, but it should get pretty well resolved one way or another, soon.
IC:
As he seals off his opponent's spells, Aggron gets a brief glimpse of Suven's mind. He grimaces at the spells he finds there. <Curse you! Every green mage has the same list. I've fought three of you now, and I keep seeing the same spells. I'll grant that they're good, but it's supremely annoying to see them again and again.> Especially when I haven't invested in the spells which defeat them so easily.'ll hold my mana and my creatures, for now. Take your best shot.>
Play Swamp, pass turn. I have 4 mana open, three of it black, and a 2/2 blocker.
Aggron nodded. <You have a point there. I mostly bought it for use against red and blue mages, though. I've seen a couple of their strategies, and this is one of the best defenses against them.>
He braces himself for the attack he knows is coming.
OOC: For what it's worth, Aggron's views are not mine here. I'm probably getting green at third level, and you can guess what sells I'll get first
Oh, and he has 1BBB worth of sources available.. He used his fifth one for the Extirpate.
OOC: Don't worry, I didn't think you had a personal problem with me or anything.
Suven reels in all of his own mana, leaving his elves ready, and casts a strong spell to empower all of his creatures. They bristle with a magical aura and his beasts bare their teeth at Aggron expectantly.
Suven beams as he calls, "Are you ready to admit defeat, or do you prefer to come back from the brink of death?" He is obviously positive he has won.
Aggron smirks. <Slow down there, green mage. I need to thin out your herd.> He holds up his hands, and each glows as a ball of sickly green energy is gathered in it. He hurls one at a bear, and one at an elf.
The balls flood the creatures with light, radiating out from their eyes and mouths. The bears roar in agony as they are all simultaneously ripped apart from the inside, and the elves just wither away. Suven's wolves and spirit are unharmed, but they are far less intimidating with only the three of them remaining.
2x 6/6 wolf creature tokens= 12 points of trample damage + 5/7 seedborn muse with trample= 17 points of damage -2 from severed legion potentially blocking= 15 damage with you sitting at 14 life that's lethal damage.
Am I missing something or is Aggron still going to lose from the combat step?
Actually, I did miscount the damage earlier, but I figured I'd play it off and hope Suven wouldn't notice he still had lethal.
Regardless, I'm a little tired of the characters always predicting arena battles properly, so I figured I'd do something different. Aggron thinks he'll survive this. Feel free to RP it appropriately.
OOC: Doesn't matter if I knew I had lethal damage or not, I would still attack with everything because there was nothing to lose from it.
As his creatures waste away into nothing before his eyes, Suven pulls mana from his two elves and launches a wave of destruction at his opponent's statue in retaliation.
Then he glances at his last remaining creatures, shrugs to himself, and motions them to attack.
OOC: Soooo many misplays this round, on my part...if I'd sat down and thought about your satchel, I probably could have won this. You totally deserve this win, cuz I totally played this wrong. Good luck in future rounds.
I should be able to struggle through this, and then I ought to be able to start killing his creatures and turn this in my favor. I know all his weapons now, and this is the worst turn I'll have. just need to survive...this....attack....
Aggron gestures, and his zombie moves to slow the path of the charging spirit. Undaunted, the spirit and the wolves proceed to charge him down...
OOC: Thanks, I didn't take the time to investigate your satchel, so I was pretty shocked at the lack of removal coming my way all game. I guess we wait for Murphy to write out your death and resurrection, yes?
