Felpurr arrives at circle seven, noticing that his opponent has yet to show up. He speaks to the judge.
"I am Felpurr of House Shanodia, reporting for my match."
Felpurr prepares himself mentally for this contest, wondering what sort of mage his foe is.

They love and hate to see me walk through the door. I'm the man with the box, one to carry all his Standard cards with him. I've got the commons and uncommons they need. But I've also got my decks. If I walk into FNM, I came to play. And they never know what I'm gonna pull out of my hat next. I may lose more than I win, but it just might be THIS deck that has all the answers that they don't have answers for. They fear the unknown. They fear me. And they never see me coming!
Xin's entrance was casual, but not overly so; his hands were in the pockets of his long, black cloak, footsteps steady on the cold hard ground. His eyes were gazing across the arena at his opponent; undoubtedly, scouting him out to see what he'd be capable of.
His lips were pursed as he approached, neither acknowledging his presence to the judge, or to his adversary. Instead, he rotated his neck slightly, opening his cloak slightly by untying the threads that wrapped it tight around his small chest, letting it flow loosely behind him. His clothing, simple black and red winter attire, was plain and unremarkable, save for the silver dagger attached to his belt.

"And to you, as well," he replied simply, his voice barely above a whisper to be carried across the arena grounds. The silence of the area was enough to lift the words to his adversary, even among the murmurs of the crowd as the elf appeared.
Xin wasn't ready to let his opponent have the advantage yet, however. With lack of any visible flourish aside from flicking his wrist, the dagger was off of his belt, twirling in his hand around one of his fingers. His other arm began to flicker slightly, flames licking around it, twisting around until lightning began to form around his fist and lower arm.
Barely a moment had passed before the bolt of lightning arced across the arena towards the ranger, murderous intent visible as it raced over the distance.
Felpurr sees the arced energy bolt burn his elf to the ground. He shakes his head and sighs.
"I knew another like you, who I worked with when I first came to Estark. He was a mad goblin who tried to burn the forest down, simply to flush out an enemy. I hope you have more respect for nature than that."
Felpurr brings forth more green mana, and summons a statue of artifice.

A small smile curled up on Xin's lips as he lowered his head slightly, peering at his opponent through his eyelashes. "I'm not entirely sure what you mean by respect, but..."
Flames lashed at the ground around his feet as he summoned more mana to himself, thrusting his hands down into them. The flames crackled, flaring and separating in two directions as two bright, identical balls of lightning sprung from the ground. Their high-pitched cries echoed in the arena as they screamed, their bodies racing towards their opponent.
"...I fully intend to burn down whatever it takes to win this match." His eyes were serious, the smile gone, as he gazed as his opponent from behind the smaller elementals.

Nodding, Xin stood straight up again, his hands clenched into fists. "I could hardly consider it 'wanton destruction'...it serves its purpose well enough."
Flames licked at his hands, wrapping around his arms as the flames spread across the ground at his feet, circling around him. His cloak whipped in the energies created by his mana, billowing outwards behind him even as the flames threatened to burn it to ashes. His dagger hung between his fingers against the palm of his right hand, glinting in the light of the sun above and the flames below.
Raising his unarmed hand, lightning arced from his outstretched palm suddenly, streaking towards the elven ranger and killing it outright, consuming its chest with brilliant red fire. Directly in front of the spider, the ground erupted with sudden energy, rocks flying towards his opponent as a duo of marauders burst from the earth, their teeth wide in malicious grins. Their curved weapons loomed menacingly close to the spider, armored bodies intimidating with their spikes and designs, but without the order to attack, they loomed close to Xin, standing between him and his opponent.

OOC: Sucks that we finally catch each other online at the same time, and I'm going to have to leave to go to a Christmas party most of the afternoon and evening. It's just getting interesting!
"I've heard stories...enough to be wary," was his response, laced with uneasy suspicion as he twirled his dagger slightly in his fingers. His opponent was starting to generate a strong wall of creatures; he was losing tactical position on the board, so to speak.
'I wonder what he's planning...' he thought to himself, curious.
For now, it was probably best to probe the waters, and see what he could achieve. Summoning more mana to himself, he let the flames roar to life around his body, motioning with his unarmed hand to the marauders. "Attack."
OOC: It happens. I just wish genyus was online as well, so we could have been knocking out TWO threads at once... LOL! I don't know how much longer I can be on anyway (family obligations).
Felpurr's creatures rise up in defense of their master, but he waves them back. He grunts, taking the hit himself.

Smiling, Xin tilted his head curiously at his opponent. "You're up to something, green mage...Sandbagging a few tricks, are we?"
Clasping his hands together, Xin summons all his resources to life, a pillar of flame roaring around his body, orange heat reaching at least seven or eight feet into the air as energy flowed into the ground. Two more groups of marauders burst out of the ground right behind the first group that attacked, sending shards of broken earth towards the green mage. Their weapons were held at the ready in a defensive stance in front of Xin.
With a casual flick of his hand, the dagger swung around in a small circle, and he waved to his opponent with the other hand, letting out a deep breath after the effort of casting. "Come on, then...show me the ace up your sleeve."

Gritting his teeth, Xin watched some of the wounds he'd inflicted heal themselves over. 'Bastard,' he thought, his head lowering to peer underneath the hood of his cloak. 'This certainly changes things.'
The bonds to one of his groups of marauders severed itself, their bodies exploding, sending debris flying towards his opponent even as the other two began clenching their weapons tighter. A nod from Xin, and they started sprinting forward, battle cries roaring.
His fists clenched as energy rippled up and down his weaponless arm, bolts of power igniting around it before leaping away from his body, one on each side of the groups of marauders, lending further assistance.
Standing straight, Xin reached out with his arm to his side, flames from around his feet circling upwards until they formed a long, black pole, the remnants of the fire circling around the top until they spread out, forming a long, thin banner of flames.
'I need to finish this quickly, or I'll be overwhelmed. A bead of sweat slid down his forehead; half from worry, and half from the heat, but nevertheless troubled. He didn't want to lose again, not so soon...he needed the money, and the power, badly from this tournament.
OOC: Took 1 from Marauders at upkeep, 6 from attacking creatures, and 1 from Marauders dying to Beetles. On to your second main, sir.

'Well, at least that takes care of his healing spell,' he surmised, the wounds on the green mage almost mirroring the level that they were previously. Judging by the way his opponent was holding himself, Xin figured the guy at least half gone, if not more so. He needed that last punch through in order to end this.
Picking his flagpole out of the ground, he waved it in the air for a moment before growling and slashing it forward, the tip slamming hard into the cold earth. The banner roared, exploding from the shaft before engulfing the battlefield, flames igniting in every direction as the entire arena flared with raw heat.
The smoke clearing, it was clear that the only creature left standing was the last group of marauders, their armor sizzling, but otherwise still alive.
"Your move, again."
OOC: Casting Pyroclasm during second main, killing all but the last group of marauders, and then end my turn tapped out and waiting on you.

Growling, he watched the mage repeat the actions of prior, healing the wounds he had taken once more. This was getting not only repetitive, but very, very annoying. At this rate, his chances for winning this were dwindling to nothing.
However, there wasn't much he could do about it, at least not right now; summoning another flagpole from the ground, he let them stand, one at each side of him, while he crossed his arms in front of his chest, dagger still twirling in his fist.
OOC: I'm not entirely sure why you used the doubling cube that last turn; you ended up with the same amount of mana as if you had just tapped it all anyways. Was it getting rusty?

A third flagpole emerged from the ground, this time in front of the first, still within arm's reach.
