The hood of Kai's traveling cloak shook slightly in the light breeze as he looked around him. His tired, ocean-blue eyes briefly scanned the surrounding crowds, a variety of culture permeating his senses as he struggled to see through the people. It was several moments before he could make out the signs stating to report to the guards, and several more before he found out the process behind doing so. By the time he managed to get to the front of the line, the breeze that was previously cooling him off had stopped, leaving the blistering hot sun to beat down on him without mercy.
Reaching underneath his cloak, Kai grabbed the entrance papers he had prepared well in advance and handed them to the guard that called him up, giving the man a brief, but polite nod as he did so. "Afternoon," he stated simply.
Name: Kai "Wolf" Masou Age: 32 Gender: Male Height: 5'7'' Weight: 131 lbs Race: Human Appearance:
Pale white skintone only recently starting to gain color, with short-cropped midnight black hair that only barely betrayed the silver-white roots underneath. Ocean-blue eyes gaze at his surroundings underneath thin black eyebrows, betraying nothing of the knowledge hidden behind them. Grizzled hair stubble, almost a series of shadows in how short they were, coated the lower half of his face.
His clothing, although not extravagant, was well taken care of - a black and blue tunic made of silk with silver-lined leather buckles, matching silk trousers, and worn black leather boots, all covered by a hooded, midnight blue cloak. Over his right arm another piece of cloth hung from his shoulder to just above his knee, concealing the entirety of his right arm and hand from outside eyes - a fact that was relevant because almost half of his arm and a large section of his hand was coated in artifice-designed metal, to cover up scarring from an unfortunate accident in the past. This same arm also holds his main weapon - a small hidden blade tucked into the wrist of his arm under the metallic plating, which slides in and out as he flexes his wrist - a design he created himself, for protection while on the road.
For the most part, Kai prefers to keep to small amounts of company, shying away from big groups in favor of tightly-knit relationships with the few friends he keeps. With a keen eye for business, he rarely turns down an opportunity to make some quick gold, but is careful enough to know which situations to avoid in order to live to see tomorrow. His eyes only barely betray the intelligence behind them, which looks around at the world with observant curiosity - years of working with artifice designs has encouraged the instinct to know how everything works, from the physical realm to the inner workings of the mind and the mana that infuses all of everything and more. Respectful to most, his manners are impeccable, but he's prone to trust issues with those he finds suspicious, which creates awkward moments when dealing with shady individuals. Still, in the pursuit of knowledge, he's dealt with all sorts, and he doesn't let most anything stop him in the progress of his skill.
A man in black and blue walks toward the guard pulling out his paperwork from the right side of his trench coat, he seems to be all business today his clothes are fairly dirty from the long trip he took to get here.
Name: Vahn Llim
Wieght: 165 lbs
A man slim of frame with broad shoulders, thick curly shoulder length black hair and blue eyes, Vahn has a broad jawline outlined with a thin well trimmed beard without a mustache. Dressed in a long black leather trench coat with electric blue trim and a large attached hood. His hair is always worn down and usually covers half of his face if not more, Vahn wears a blue satchel with a dagger hilt sticking out of it accessable under the left side his coat with a black shirt underneath black leather pants with tall leather boots and leather gloves.
Personality and background
Vahn prefers not to talk to others about his past, what little is known is that he is the only survivor of his family, once a great mercantile power. He has been cloistered since then studying, preparing to deal with the men who murdered his family. He is almost always quiet and calm trying to survey all around him and making mental notes. When speaking he is quite polite, though he keeps few personal relations, preferring to keep to the business at hand.
As he hands his paperwork to the guard he says calmly. "I believe all is in order, good sir."
The guard flips through Kai's papers, and then slowly nods. "Looks good." Stamping the papers, he hands them back with a smile. "You picked a pretty bad time to come by."
Kai could only nod. He'd heard the rumors from the merchants he'd passed leaving the city. "So I've heard," he replied. Part of him wanted to ask the guard how things were going, but after what the guard said, it seemed somewhat clear that the things most definitely weren't 'going'. Still, if it gave him a chance to make a little extra coin...
"Can you point me to where the help is needed most?"
Obviously, the other threads are already well started, and I'm not sure if there's even any other sidequests running at the moment, so the response is mostly for RP purposes, for reference.
He gave another nod to the guard and a tip of his hood, revealing sharp-witted intelligence behind ocean-blue eyes. "Thanks for the directions," he replied, and with only a brief glance towards the gates, headed into the city. Before the House, though, I need to check something.
Name: Elkis Thinbear
Weight: 150 lbs.
Appearance: A lithe, scraggly warrior wearing a cloak over his nomadic garb. There is little more to him than his muscles and his bones. He wears a sleeveless, sandy tunic with brown wrap pants and doesn't bother to wear boots. The man's appearance is that of a domesticated predator, but his demeanor is extremely civil and pleasant.
A woman clad in blue walks up to the gates. Her demeanor is bright and happy, but the fact that she does not return any glances makes her seem cold and distant. Perhaps it would be best to stay out of her way.
"Here are my papers" comes a light and airy voice, as she hands the gaurd a scroll. The gaurd would be delighted to hear such a voice, but her stare is almost as if she is looking right passed him. "Would you happen to know of a man called Id Ego?" she asks as the gaurd looks the papers over.
Appearance:Her eyes are as blue as the sky, and her hair as golden as the sun.
Her chest is covered by a pure blue top, which doesn not cover her shoulders or stomach. Her legs are not even covered to the knees with a slightly darker, cerulean blue skirt.
Both articles seem to be slightly loose fitting. A deep navy blue cloak is adorned around her neck, with a pin of a canary, which is long enough to touch the ground, yet never drags, almost seemingly hovering just a cenitmeter above it. The cloak has a hood which can be drawn, and does not cover this woman's shoudlers.
This woman's feet are bare, as are her hands, with all of her nails glistening with a bright blue polish.
Each of her arms are addorned with smooth blue armbands, but her left armband is slightly longer than her right. Both armbands have several runes, seemingly randomly scrawled upon them. Each of her ankles is adorned with likewise smooth and blue acessories, yet they each seem to be nothing more than a thin band, without any runes addorning them at all.
Demeanor: Her dainty foot steps make her seem as if she is gliding, not walking, upon the ground. Her expression is bright and happy, but the fact that she does not return any glances makes her seem cold and distant.
A hooded figure approaches the gates, as he comes closer a two horns can be seem as bumps on the hood. He approaches the guard with and hands him his papers. With an enthralling voice he says: I'm known as Gyrok, pleased to meet you.
Height: 1.92 m
Weight: 52 kg
He looks sleazy with a heavy hooded black cloak that covers him from top to bottom, under the coat he wears some ragged pants and a ragged shirt. He is also the proud owner of a pair of worn out leather boots. His skin is dark red and his teeth are pointy, the horns are crooked, but not very long. The fingers are long and the nails razor sharp, he got a necklace with the feet of 13 babies dangling from it. His eyes are deep and black, almost mesmerizing.
Gyrok is cunning man, he always uses his silver tongue to sweet-talk people into doing his bidding. He likes gambling, but even more, he likes cheating. He is an impulsive liar and lives by the saying: A bad lie is better than the truth, since the truth is for me alone. He likes to torture people until they lose their mind and then watch them struggle to kill themselves when they think he isn't watching. He likes killing as well, but it is only enjoyable when it is children killed in front of their parents. He got a dominatrix complex and want to rule over other people and watch them crawl beneath his feet.
Gyrok has lived for many years, but the last 200 he spent in the abyss. He was cornered a battalion of knights after having killed and devoured more than thousand children over the past 50 years. To save his life he took a gamble and cast a spell that threw him and the battalion of knights into the abyss for all eternity hoping for something to pull him out of it. A recent happening of a black mage who wanted to summon a demon from the abyss, pulled him out of it. As a thanks to the mage who summoned him, he stills the mage's leather boots, since his own was lost in the abyss. Now free and long forgotten by the people of this world, Gyrok is out for more blood. Unfortunately he is only a shadow of his former self. But he managed to steal 50 pieces of gold from some traveler on his way to the city.
(Satchel still under construction)
A young man walks down the road toward Estark. His dull gaze comes to rest on the outpost ahead. Slowing his pace, he stops there and slides his papers to its guard.
Name: Luu Sihner
Height: 180 cm (5'11")
Weight: 60 kilograms (~130 lbs)
Appearance: Luu is a decidedly average young man. His garb is commonplace, wearing a drab set of hooded robes and pants matching his equally-dull and -worn boots. His hair is a crudely cropped black without luster. His eyes, similarly, are a blank brown. The mage's most visible distinguishing mark is a scar in the shape of a horizontal line below his right eye. His only equipment is a beaten satchel and a sheathed knife carried on his back by means of a strap. The sole exception to Luu's unassuming appearance are dual tattoos on his palms in the form of one roughly triangular shape each; if he brings his hands together and opens them, the two form an image of an empty hourglass.
Personality: Sihner is equal parts indifferent and dismissive. He is stoically numb to much of life, though he does possess emotion and will on rare occasions externally project it. He is totally serious and has no patience for 'fun'. The mage typically judges the morality of actions by their consequences rather than the process to achieve those consequences. His main goal is to bring about plane-spanning peace. At best, Luu is rational and reliable; at worst, he is myopic and cold.
Background: Sihner hails from Immersturm on the plane of Valla. He was born in the constant warfare caused by its magical storm. His family was steadily killed off as he aged. Desensitized by continuous exposure to violence and steadily adapting to become more fit for it, he nonetheless vowed to bring peace to his tormented land and all like it, believing war to be the worst of all evils in the world.
He fought to survive in the war for nineteen years before a charitable planeswalker intervened in the young warrior's life. The traveling 'walker found Luu and deemed him suitable for blessing. His gifts were threefold: A satchel filled with basic gems, a tattoo through which a novice spellcaster could use them, and transport to Dominaria for further instruction in magecraft. Sihner traveled across its lands, garnering gold and fighting off any attackers as he went, until he arrived at Estark.
A relatively tall Viashino approaches the checkpoint and pulls back his hood. He wears freshly polished steel scale mail over his brown cloth robe. A dark leather belt can be seen peaking out from behind his scale mail. Several pouches hang on to the belt. A hand-made satchel bag is overflowing with small, mechanical trinkets and bits. In a think Lizard-Kin accent, he says "I'm Kozec."
Name: Kozec (Last/Clan-name unknown)
Age: 47 ((I am not sure the average age of a Viashino, so I'll make 47 the new 24 for Viashinos))
Height: 5 Feet, 10 Inches (1.72 Meters)
Weight: 120 Pounds (54.5 Kilograms)
Appearance: Kozec looks of the average Viashino, lean, muscular, and a semi-pointed face. Spines come out of his forearms, but are normally folded down unless Kozec is aggravated. His skin is dark olive and has yellow, reptillian eyes. His tail extends about two feet, so it is just barely touching the ground. The tip of his tail has sharp spines protruding from it, but similar to his arms, are folded unless he is aggravated. He has a small, short flail sheathed on his right side. He carries it everywhere, and takes pride in his metal work. The flail is the very first weapon he had ever smithed. He wears a small, green, half-oval shape stone strung on a black leather rope around his neck. This too, he brings everywhere. He can't remember exactly when he got it, but all he knows is that his mother gave it to him when he was very young. The stone itself is very smooth, as Kozec sucked and chewed on the stone when he was still a baby Viashino.
A tall white faced man in a black trench coat, black clothes, and a black bird walks up to the stand and hands over his papers:
Appearance:A tall pale man dressed in all black and a black coat, face bleached white from what seems like a chemical burn, a mouth that has been cut into a smile, with vertical scars turned black from dark magic over his eyes. On his shoulder is a large black bird, raven like but smaller. A satchel is hanging over his shoulder and down on his left side. In his coat is a dagger, black handle and looks almost weighted for throwing. Upon closer inspection people notice a slight smell of death, though no one can tell if it is him, his bird, or his magic lingering.
A tall man walks towards the gate carrying a halberd. "Here are the appropriate papers."
Name: Cale Johan
Height: 6 foot 2 inches
Weight: 165 lbs
Appearance: Tall, wearing a long white cloak. He wields a halberd, which he keeps level at his side. He has stern blue-grey eyes.
Personality: Fair, Judges people on how well they keep the laws
