Jack flashed a grin at the three as he pulled several rolled up parchments from his desk and began unrolling them for the three to see. He spoke with a hint of excitement in his voice saying, "You three will be traveling west to modern day Terisiare, that's the proper name for the land, though there are many different forms. Finding reliable information on this artifact was difficult as many of the records are from the Ice Age. Since then the land has changed substantially."
Jack unfurled another parchment showing a modern view of Terisiare and continued speaking, "Since the Thaw a lot of the original landmarks have disappeared. Fortunately the climate in Terisiare is still fairly frigid depending on the season. As luck would have it, the land should still be in it's winter phase. With winter comes freezes and snow, all of which should make finding this artifact easier."
"From what I have gathered you will need to travel just past New Argive until you find a snow covered city on New Argive's western shore. The city should be in complete ruins. From their you should look to the north west where you will see the Colekgan Mountains. South of these mountains lies another city of ruins. Inside that triangle lies remnants of the Ronom Glacier. Your artifact, the Thrumming Stone, seems to be acting as a grave marker preserving the glacier that it floats upon."
Jack referenced yet another parchment saying, "The tales surrounding this artifact indicate that magi in the past have used the artifact as a focus for their spells. The results in those stories speak of spells flowing with ease from the mage's satchel."
Jack places the parchment down on his desk and smiles at Evan saying, "This is quite the haul you are trying to gain for House Shimia. Think you're ready?"
I'm ready. the question is are you willing to let us. It all depends on you current state of mind.

Evan tries very inneffectivly to hide a laugh from escaping his lips at Lelouch's snide comment.
Seeing that his comrades were ready, Evan chimed in, "I'm the one who organized this, yet i seem to be the last to say that i'm ready! Ain't that interesting...I'm ready to go as well. Shall we head out now?"
"The crew of the Voyager awaits in Estark's docks. Find them, report to the captain and let her know you are ready to leave." spoke Jack as he leaned back on his table.
"All right then Jack. We'll see you when we get back. What exactly did you want for providing us with this information, anyway? I know as well as anybody, that things like this don't come free or cheap. After you let me know that, I'll be on my way to the docks. What about you two? See you there, or wait for me, either way, your not leaving wothout me."
Jack flashed Evan a devil of a grin saying, "There's a reason I wanted house backing on this expedition. Because of it I will be getting a nice return on my investment here. Good old gold to fill my vault!"
After wandering around the city for some time, Genesius eventually comes across Jack's shop. Reading the sign outside, he becomes curious about the "odd jobs". He enters the tent, suppressing a shudder while passing two satisfied looking warlocks on the way inside. He didn't care if Red and Black mana were allied. He did not like warlocks. Period.
Genesius' eyes find Jack very easily. He smiles as he then notices the bounties posted on the board behind Jack's desk, as well as a dazed looking warlock nearby. He walks up to Jack, the sorcerer's usual grin on his face.
"Would I be correct in assuming you're Jack? If so, then I'd like to tell you I'm interested in going after one of your bounties. If not, then I hope you're still authorized to conduct such business with clientele in Jack's absence..."
Genesius looks over his shoulder and smirks at the departing warlock. He then turns to Jack and gives him a looks that plainly says, "You're sending them to their deaths, aren't you?" He chuckles and mutters "Good luck to them, I guess..." as he waits for Jack's response.
After entering the city, Mar meant to go back to his room at House Shimia, but somehow ended up at the entrance to Jack of All Trades instead. Curious as to the new establishment, he walked in. Looking around interestedly, Mar took in the many trophies that dotted the place, then noticed the wall of bounties. Intrigued, he moved closer to them, then noticed that what he at first thought was another trophy was actually a person wearing the pelt of a rather impressive prize.
He doesn't pay that much attention to the other human in the shop, but he does stare at some of the posters intently, a thoughtful look in his eye.
Fevvers turns her head before the new arrival even entered. She turns back towards Genesius and clicks her beak, catching his attention. "Mm? What is it?" Genesius realizes what Fevvers noticed when Mar enters the tent, and keeps his eye on the hooded figure. As Mar draws closer, he notices the feline features underneath the hood. "A leonin..." He remains wary of any potential danger, but so far thinks nothing remarkable about him. However, he does not dismiss him since Fevvers thought the leonin worthy of pre-emptive notice.
A thought crossed his mind about proposing a partnership to go after a more dangerous and rewarding bounty, but the idea was quickly discarded when he remembered he should probably find out if he can trust someone before working with them.
Contemplation done, and decisions made, Mar steps up to the counter and politely coughs to get Jack's attention before gesturing at several posters with his staff.
"A unicorn would make a fine steed, I think." Or rather, It'd help with making certain impressions on those for whom showing up on a nightmare or a bat would be off-putting. "I'd like the details on that bounty, please; I'm sure you would agree that it's important to keep in shape when it comes to the hunt."
Mar points at a second poster. "And there, someone who needs to learn that being a student carries certain... obligations. Civilization runs on people knowing where they stand, and what they owe."
Finally, Mar points at a third poster. "And with those you really need to take them out before they can get too spread out. Annoying to hunt, given their tendency to split, but given the price..."
"And I'd like to know what it was that that came from," Mar added off-offhandedly, pointing at an overly-large skull with rather too many teeth. "Was it as difficult to take down as it looks?"
Genesius blinks a couple times to register what Mar had just said.
"He's going after several bounties? At once?" Is this guy a professional or something?" He looks at Jack, then back at Mar. "No, *that* is a professional, but he still seems rather confident in his abilities...
At least I know he's articulate...and furry...and that he's also going after the bounty I want...
He mentioned riding the unicorn, so he must be able to cast it. However...he doesn't look like any paladin I've seen. As for the other bounties, he hasn't given any evidence that he'll be able to use the casting gems that comes as their rewards. Those endeavors seem mostly motivated by coin. And what was it that he said before..."
"Civilization runs on people knowing where they stand, and what they owe."
"'...where they stand, and what they owe...' Despite being sufficiently disturbing, that particular phrase doesn't sound like something a white caster would say...They usually say stuff like 'For honor and justice!' and 'Don't light that on fire!', but this gentleman...What he said sounds like something someone would say if they were affiliated with...with..."
Genesius is silent while all his thoughts buzz around his head. Several moments after Mar stopped talking, Genesius suddenly shouts "...the Orzhov Syndicate!"
Realizing he just said that out loud, he covers his mouth, thoroughly embarassed. He lets out a muffled "Sorry." before returning to his thoughts.
"Maybe I'm overthinking. I have no evidence he's part of the Orzhov. All I know is that he's a white caster, and although they're sometimes uptight, they're okay. At least confirm your suspicions."
Moving his hands from his mouth, he proceeded to talk. "Excuse me for asking, but what House are you from? And, um, do you have any Guild affiliations?"
Mr heard the shout, but out of politeness did not turn to look at the shouter; he'd already seen and observed the human when he came into the room, and hadn't gotten any sense of agression when he'd entered and saw no reason to be rude now. He note when the human came over and asked a question of him, though.
"Hmm?" Mar turned to face the human in oversized clothes that stood before him, and gave a smile that, unlike virtually all other smiles he'd given sice he arrived in Estark, was actually friendly. "Me? I assume you mean house as in Estarkian House of Magic; I hold an affiliation with the House Shimia. It was necessary, once, for me to completely banish my personal terrors to survive, and in the process of mastering my own fear I developed an... appreciation for the power held in the swamps. Such a pity that so many see only the power-hungry warlock when they look at those who channel black mana; even more a pity that they tend to be the only ones who get noticed." As he answers, Mar opens his mind just a tad, and looks at this newcomer with sight aided by just a bit of mana, and files away the knot that enters the man's moneybag and resonates with strands tinged of red, a knot that feels very similar to Mar's own token of Shimia, as well as the faint bond that seems to run between the bird riding on the man's shoulder and the human. I hope he isn't as impulsive as some of his fellows can be. Or at least less impulsive than that mind-mage was. Interesting that he has such a bond with nature without being one of the druids, though...
"And yes, I am affiliated with the same Syndicate that you just shouted out."
Mar looks at the man once more, trying to get a feel for this person in front of him and whether he was at all successful at allaying some of the man's apprehensions, before continuing. "Ah, but I am being being rude. I am Mar, a humble feline from a history that no longer exists, and I hope I haven't bored you or your hawk. You?"
Seeing Mar's friendly smile, Genesius flashed his trademark grin in return. "I'm Genesius, fledgling sorcerer, and this is Fevvers." he said, gesturing to his hawk as she gave Mar a courteous nod. He fidgeted a little as he continued "If you've picked up on them, please understand that my prejudices against Black mana are not without reason.", tugging on his cloak as he spoke.
"So...he wasn't a paladin at all. He's another warlock. Seems like Estark is crawling with them. This one, though...seems...okay...Maybe I should propose a partnership after all..."
"Careful. You know that could easily be a facade and this warlock may very well turn you into his pawn. Since when has anyone ever been able to trust a warlock?"
"Pffft. If I were careful, I would have never experienced as much as I have or have had as much fun doing so. Besides, if he turns on me, I'll light him on fire. What are you, a blue mage?"
"How *dare* you!"
A few seconds pass as he argues with himself, a thoughtful look on his face. After a few more seconds, he makes a decision and acts on it.
"If I may be so bold, I was wondering if I could accompany you to provide some help as you chase down those bounties, not that I'm saying you're not capable of doing it all yourself. However, it makes sense that these tasks would be completed faster and with less difficulty if taken on by two mages, instead of only one. As for the rewards, you can take the gold. I'm in it for the experience. Interested?"
Mar considers this offer for a few moments, thinking it over. "Likely his presence would make everything faster. My own strategies tend to take time, and most of the Hammerheim affiliated seem to get things done quick."
Mar nods his head. "That sounds acceptable; having a second along can mean the difference between the hunted escaping or not. And I can fully understand your reservations. Sometimes it seems that only those of my fellows who embrace that of the swamps represented by death and decay get fame and notice; the aspects of self-reliance and desire to achieve and be more get lost and ignored. And I know for a fact that when I was a mere hunter for my tribe, I caused more uneeded pain and suffering in bringing down my prey with weaponry than I now do with simple spells."
"But I must apologize for my long-windedness. Yes, I would be interested in a partnership."
Genesius smiles hearing the leonin's answer. "Excellent! Then we have an accord!" he says as he extends his hand to shake Mar's paw. "And since I didn't say it before, it's a pleasure to meet you!"
