I would like to take an opportunity to point out something which has come to my attention. While we do accept different races across the span of the magic multiverse, race is character flavor ONLY. So, for example, in the case of our shapeshifter who just joined, he can't randomly shapeshift into, say, a Dragon and start flying or breathing flame. While he may take the shape of such a thing, the powers that would come associated with it are something that he does not have. Any character of another race who attempts to use race to alter game mechanics will be met with failure.
just so i do nothing stupid, ok i can take any form a shapeshifter could BUT there ablitys are not passed on...is that how it works...like fire breaing? if so i thats my only question

Basically, yes, role playing stuff only. Shapeshifting into something big will take you an enormous amount of energy, and if it would merit some kind of abuse, then you will find yourself facing some kind of heavy drawback for using it. Consequently, I would not shapeshift into anything big. You are still a player just like any other, with the same life total and what not. You may not fly without the help of external magic. Shapeshifting into something with wings does not give you the natural strength, knowledge, or experience required to actually fly. You are a mage; there are much easier ways to make yourself fly than by expending a large amount of energy to change shape and then spend lots of time trying to get your mind adjusted to its abilities.
Basically, you can't do anything gamebreaking here. You may use the ability to change your shape for some roleplaying purposes, but if will take large amounts of energy if you are essentially blinking between forms. If you do, you will find yourself naturally weaker, and we as mods may end up finding ways to reflect a natural weakness in your character... so don't even think of abusing the fact that your race is shapeshifter You are bound by the same rules as every other player.
Mally just to let you know our starting level character has purchased said spell. And if you havn't visited the FPN store recently you would see that Time Spiral Block spells are now for sale. On another note spells are avaliable through limited casting gems (less than 4) so that will lead to some spells being avaliable to our newer players. That is why our new player has a expansion spell. Also the drawback of the artist justifies him being not being overpowered considering they will have to pitch a spell and not be able to just pitch a basic land.

@Malley: Clearly I have respected your input thus far, and therefore I hope that what I am going to say here will not cause a decrease in respect for both of us.
Point 1: RP. I somewhat feel inclined to agree with you, and between the mods and comments I have made upon the way, I have looked and and praised the quality of your RP. In the invasion quest you are in at the moment, due to that quality, the general line has slightly changed. A voice was never to actually be uttered before the role playing of Brother Tyler showed up. For God's Sake, your RP has halted a frickin Goliath. Role Play all of the sudden could be a factor here. Additionally, who is saying that this role playing will not be in some way rewarded? It made not be immediately and copiously rewarded, but is that not the nature of the RP?
Point 2:The Ranger, I agree, is broken in this format, and it is the top card on our mod list of cards that may need to be toned down in some way. Right now, we are doing as a good group of GM's should do, and placing them in environments in which their powers may be held in check. Should this continue to fail/backfire, we may have to begin restricting it in the format, or otherwise have some other kind of resource restrictions in place.
Another unfortunate thing to note is that this IS a budding game, and still needs to evolve as time goes on. This means that the newer players recieve both advantages and disadvantages. Clearly you understand this. Which leads me to...
Point 3: On those grounds, I have a feeling that you are also well aware that a merchant will happily take advantage of a desperate individual in need of a quick item, and is an element of general RP worlds that in the end a player needs to accept. Is this not true? Granted, I personally feel that the price system still needs to be toyed with, but what we need to do right now is experiment with this stuff, don't we?
You clearly have experience and know what you're talking about, as do I, and I feel Fenris does too. No offense to qfx at all, but he has previously said that this is his first role playing game, and is also the creator of this thing. So there is a bit of a learning curve from him that is a little steeper than Fenris or myself, simply due to experience in role playing systems. That being said, he's doing a fine job with story line posts right now, and still contributes ideas that inspire all of us GM's to move forward in a positive way. This point is to, more or less, reinforce the fact that this game is still evolving, and sometimes we just need to see what happens before things get done.
The three of us need to make a bit more clear the changes that we have made over time as it stands, which is evident based on one of our arena encounters so far. I also find myself in situations such that I can't be here tremendously often, but I try to make good use of it when I can.
In short, Malley, I appreciate your efforts and concerns, and each of them will need to be addressed as such, if they have not already.
EDIT: Further updates will come, but I need to get back to work now. Still to update: Both invasion threads and Song of the Spelljacks.
Heh, all this over me summoning a Dreamscape Artist that I finally had enough mana to use ^^. Btw, since the shop was selling the commons at 80 for a fully charged spell, and their was a post saying to ask about reduced casting spell crystals, i payed 40 (out of my 50) gold to only get 2 castings out of the thing. I probaly wont even summon the other, might use it as spellfodder for the 1st one, idk, according to what Fenris does.
The impression I'm getting here in general that you aren't trying to actually take stabs at people, but rather are being very direct about potential problems you see... and you feel a bit miffed about getting the price you did on the scrolls :p. Still, I would like to point out that, in addition to the quick profit opportunity due to desperation and then getting the idea to slash prices to attract more customers jipped you here, but still makes sense for turning a profit if he feels sufficiently safe. Now, also, I offered you the spells at the price I did as Shatterstorm is an uncommon spell, and his Dreamscape Artist is in fact a common. Given the circumstances, I'm still thinking that 25G was not a TERRIBLE price to pay. Now, also, I must point out that I didn't quite agree on the prices as they stand, but rather just the quest rewards. The reasoning behind the current prices are based upon the rewards system, but still need to be tweaked, which I understand and pretty much agree with. Should we change it, Kandar managed to hit one of those "weekend" sales that you kind of can see with occasional merchants in real life... although they tend to mark up their prices before slashing them to claim that they reduced their prices Similar vein.
Anyway, the point regarding the prices is fine. Also, I do want to point out that a decent part of the new system and prices which seemed to come out of the blue were us modifying the rules such that rarity actually matters in rewards and in shops... after we changed the rewards, we felt like we had a flexible enough system to accomodate the shops. Prices weren't officially set when we had a large GM meeting about it all, and if these prices do create problems, they will be edited accordingly. I shall personally investigate the matter myself when I get the chance (which will probably be tonight, and that's 3 hours from this post, for those who don't happen to be on the same time scale as I am :p)
Sorry for ya getting a sour deal with the scrolls Malley, but I do have one thing to say.
Wootness for weekend sales ^^. Sorry, i had to say it after seeing Arguas' post ^^.
Eh, 25 seems like a fair price for one cast of Shatterstorm, the normal crystal costs 100, so 1/4th the cost for 1/4th the spell sounds ok. Maybe that should have been a 1 cast gem, idk, or maybe 12 gold since you lose it if you use it, idk, whatever the GMs decide, hopefully it will be fair to all.
P.S. Bah, i think i blew all my Unsummons to early . Fenris, you shall rue the day, rue it I say ^^.
P.P.S. What does "rue" mean anyway ^^?
oi...so we can play magic with cards in the tavern? that'll be interesting...

For my players in the Supplies Defense mission I will attempt to post later on today with your update. If I don't I will post by tommorrow. Things in the real world are holding me up a little.
Edit:
Hmmm seems like the test did not take as long as expected updateing shortly.
So, Fenris, how am I doing, as far as RPing and actual fighting skill? My spellbook could do with a decent overhall, my creatures need an update, they arent very powerful, all I did early game was annoy you by unsummoning everything I could. Neither of us really getting anywhere.
Kandar you are doing fine with your battle don't worry. Your spell satchel is very good at what it does. Really for a starting satchel you are doing quite well. Over time with your quest rewards and other things your mage should flesh out to be quite formidable. Your RPing is very solid although things do become a little difficult when we have to deal with the fact that both mages have spells that can act in response to their opponent but that is easilly dismissed and dealt with. The only thing i would like is a little bit more of Kandar's own voice put into combat. My characters are flavorful but on occasion they need someone to talk with. I can't wait to see how this finishes out.

Yeah, same here. And thank you, i will see what i can do about getting Kandar a voice in RP ^^. Idk how this will turn out, but it's been a good duel regardless of who wins.
2. No one cares about your character background.
Really. Don’t tell me about your character and how great he is. It gets boring after the first 50 people or so have told you the same thing. The character is important to you, let that be enough.
I don't agree on this one. Building your character is really important in any RP. It can give your character a motivation, a fear of something. Hell, as long as it's a bit original, I like reading about a char's history. However, you don't have to just shout it of the roofs. It might be nice to spoil some of it every now and then, but just telling everything about your character at once is stupid and gives you very little moving space.

We have laboured long to build a heaven, only to find it populated with horrors.
I happen to agree with much of Malley's post on a case by case basis. RP in terms of forum is designed to be in the format of a story. Please acknowledge it as such...
BUT, a couple of disagreements.
Character background isn't a problem UNLESS it becomes a reason for why certain characters are better than others based on exploits outside this game, which hasn't been a problem from our regular players. At least, I'm not finding it to be such with the playgroup I'm in, outside of a couple of isolated incidents that were dealt with.
On the topic of OOC: I tend to use this when my text can be misconstrued as someone else. If a comment is to be addressed simply in the context of that particular forum, I don't particularly mind it, but some people may. Again, so far I haven't had too many problems. It is often best when the text is spoiled, unless there is a good reason for all to see it.
The wording of the list is deliberatly quite agressive as it's ment to be funny, LRPers in the UK tend to be quite agressive/insulting but in a friendly way.
And I find this statement to best exemplify your posting style
Again, I understand what you mean, I just don't feel like many of these points are tremendously taxing on us right now. Yes, these are good guidelines, and I do believe we have lost one member as he took what happened a little too personally. Isolated incidents that aren't affecting us at this time, overall.
I actually am still trying to encourage more actual role play rather than just character actions, mind you... I agree that blatantly telling people about their background stories is not recommended, but actually playing the roles is what I hope to see. I think that IS a point that this list is trying to emphasize, just... not the extremes of it
1. Stop Whining
2. I as the Lorwyn flamekin will speak up for the race thing. I have not used the flamekin nature to my advantage at all. The fact that the flames around grow and shrink depending on mood and i can use them to help me incinerate thing, is only for RPing sake. I just took one damage via embermage goblin, which wouldn't even touch the average flamekin.
3. About your 15:
#2: I think this is important, as your background influences your actions.
#4: I get elves. There the best race for green mages, and i can understand someone wanting to be a humanoid, but not a boring old human, so elf is the closest thing.
#10: I completely agree. I hate it when people say there leg got slashed by a tundra wolves, but they dont even show it later.
#12: That is in character. If you charcter is a sore loser, he should say these things.
#13: When someone is RPing their moves, sometimes it is hard to see what they are doing unless the clarify. Also, while we not face to face, it's best to be able to talk as players, about why u hav'nt posted in a while or whatever.
#14: I think that if i am having fun playing a game and it suddenly ends, I am allowed to be upset.
Eh, about the Wolves, I guess my only escuse is that this is my 1st RPing experience. It's not much of one, but hey, everyone was new once right ^^. Anyway, how are you suposed to RP small bits of damage like that of a Wolf or similar 1 powered creature?
P.S. Woot, I won my first duel of this game. Now Borres can melt my face off ^^.
