I want to personally put out a big word of Thanks to Arguas for pulling the big assist that he has. And a word of thanks to all those who helped in the early stages (and continue to help behind the scenes) and the players who have joined up.

I appreciate that. Just out of curiosity, I wonder when I get that nice little WPL tagline under my name?
I honestly don't know. I had to mention it to Nai that I didn't have one before it got added to me.
YAY!!! I am very happy and proud to receive the recognition Hope to continue to do my good job here, even if I really can't afford to be on like this every night
OK, seriously, that was a fun match. I expected it to go on a bit longer, what with all the board control I was packing in this match. It didn't help that I wasn't aware of what Fenris was packing until the end of the fight, but hey, that's how it goes
Looking back, there were a couple of calls that I incorrectly made with my satchel development. I was looking for a late game answer to all of the removal that I knew grappler would be packing. So I picked Skarrgan Firebird as that last slot that never got played
Both teams had some very strong interactions, and in the end, it was the initiative that actually decided the match. Well done by you guys. I made a couple of play mistakes, but really nothing I wasn't too ashamed of.
I would just like to say that the mod/player battle was a lot of fun! I'm glad we were able to do this (and on even grounds too, you would have had me in the red next turn, or defenseless).
So...what happens now that we finished?
Were you packing an incinerate? I'd like to know if we waisted that gargoyle or not.

I'll let Fenris be the judge of that I'm going to ask him to make up a quest... probably one from Frankie Peanuts, to cover some of our recent newcomers, and also any future comers in the next few days. I've kind of got my hands full right now I'm likely going to do 1 response and then get back to book working.
I really enjoyed reading the Arena match. It was pretty cool. I am looking forward to my first epic battle. Oh, I also like the turn order. I don't like the "whoever posts first" business because it seems like it would easily change the match up.
The mod/player battle was a ton of fun and i think my personal ace in the hole was the whole voidstone gargoyle guy along with the Tundra Wolves. They definately out preformed my expectations. Also I to am curious if you were packing incinerate Arguas. You kept keeping open that two mana open every turn and i expected to see it time and time again.
As for what is happening next once i get a hold of Qfx and talk to Arguas a little more we will see. I do beleive a new Frankie Penuts quest is in order as Arguas alluded to. But like i said we shall see.

I actually didn't have Incinerate, but considering that if I did pack it we probably would have won, I'm regretting it. The open lands was a bluff, and in both cases I was keeping Quicksand open in case it would be useful. Since the match is over, my satchel was the following:
Essentially red stall/control, finish opponents off with a big Blaze or a recurring Phoenix once all of your team's control spells were gone. In retrospect, I should have used Rorix Jr. in the slot for the Firebird, as when Roger was tapped out a nasty 16 power dragon would have wiped him out. Or Incinerate... that would have worked
Yeah, a 6 hour bus trip + home with parents with no decent computers dampened my enthusiasm considerably for a while
As you said in the PM. Now, I noticed you enjoyed yourself, but I really think that different decisions could have been made in the tower quest. Plus, now you're going home without a prize That kinda sucks.
Although I should have given you one additional round of preparation than I did... sorry about that. Didn't expect boomerangs on the lands Still, I thought the other team did a very good job. I was very much hoping that you guys could force a truce, as, well, your next jobs would have both been easier
There is also talk of one member of the blue team quitting over this. Very disappointing, I'd say, but I'd like to offer Dre2Dee2 a chance to voice his opinions here as to why I am in the wrong here. I have been a supporter of him as he has supported me for a bit here, and seriously I am trying to play this situation fairly given what has happened. Discuss!
EDIT: Also, besides this, I'd love comments from the people who are involved in my quests. How am I doing? Am I providing content that all of you are enjoying? Am I doing a decent job at addressing all of you when the time comes?
While I don't understand why the whole thing made Dre2Dee2 want to quit. I was rather annoyed that Wuffles made a cloud of dust when he ran away. I was told by Arguas that you could use a spell you have in your satchel to help cover your escape. Not that you could just decide to create the perfect cover out of no where then run. The way I was told is not only more fair, but it's much more flavorful as well.
I'm really enjoying it Arguas. My first quest was short but fun. The huge defend the city quest looks to be great fun too.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
Those who are not able to post should refer to grappler12's post in the arena thread it explains how to change ones options to be able to post. As well as the global announcement.

Right typed this a few times now so I'll do the quick version:
Your FP mission rewards are unbalancing in game terms. I've worked on a number of RPGs (mostly LARP) and made money looking for holes in games or for aspects that will make the game unbalanced.
The reward is too high compared to your other missions and you have confermed an almost 0% risk factor to players characters by allowing Deus Ex Machinas to save them/let them win. This early in the game access to two spells in STD (including three expert level sets) that other players can't get (any non creature spell out side of 10th). Added to this is the fact that with the removal of randomisation and hand sizes you can essentally do what you like card wise and alot of cards have different power levels in this game (Skyshroud Elves being a prime example in common) and you may find certain parts of the game broken.
This was longer and more indepth but as I say the internet ate it 4 times already. As I say, unrestricted choices effect your power levels (even more so when the lack of a rarity rule) to the point that you'll have a subclass of players who will be annoyed that they can't get certain spells. Mind this comes from me, who is getting a we bit bored waiting to start what looks to be a very difficult quest if peopel don't have the correct spells and is going to take forever :).
Is their power level over 9000? If it isn't there isn't anything to worry about, we have the Prince of Sayiens on our side =)

A punk rock song won't ever change the world, but I can tell you about a couple that changed me
The whole 2 spells earned from the FPN missions is because in general his missions will be more difficult. Also the openness of any spells from standard is just to represent Mr. Peanuts having a business in dealing with spells. If you haven’t already read the first mission thread there was quite a bit of work that needed to be done. I will agree that without the caravans drivers spells the group would have most likely failed but that was not guaranteed. Also the caravan spells were there to be asked for in the first place. It was the characters own initiative to ask for the spells. Considering that the caravan was transporting spells it was surprising to see that myself and the other members of our quest did not think of asking for the help sooner. Mally I wouldn't really worry about things getting out of hand. Right now the quests are there to give our starting players something to work with. I will discuss this with Qfx and Arguas though and it is possible that the FPN missions will receive reduced rewards but for this next one the reward will stand unless otherwise decided by all the moderators

First of all, you should have seen when starting satchels were allowed to have Commons from Extended, Uncommons from Standard, and Rares from Xth, which was the original plan by qfx Now I want to reiterate that I somewhat agree that it is a problem to throw around that much diversity without having some kind of restriction with the rares, but admitably by the time I could do anything about it, it would be unfair to deny newcomers to that kind of diversity initially. Believe me, I know the power of the lack of randomization in satchel construction. I have one such satchel in place in case someone needs to be put in their place Seriously Malley though, this is another reason that lesser gems and scrolls were introduced. I'm hoping that later quests that I will be running will focus on getting rewards like that at lower power. The other thing that you may have noticed is that rarity comes into play when using money, albeit that is the only case at the moment. As demand increases, more will become available for cash, but honestly it is my preferred way to handle things, by making the players purchase some spells. Soon, when I get some time, I've already considered a different use for those coins which I have discussed with qfx, and gotten approval for.
Also, my apologies for boring you. I am the only moderator working on this quest at this time, and my opportunities have been tied up recently. That being said, I will unveil the next step of these plans, and just was hoping that we could have gotten Kashani back in the mix for this quest before it began Don't worry, it's coming soon, and I can promise you that. The entire event is planned, as you saw from the scouting venture. Before you go, you will be receiving more information. And that will be tonight's update... if I have enough time, I may even get this party started

I would like to voice that 2 spells completely void of rarity restrictions is a bad idea, partially for the reasons Malley suggested. If you're going to do something like that, offer up lesser gems for this thing, or money for the service to Frankie. I felt that getting two rares randomly was a huge reward, and card quality quickly outstrips level if we do it like that. That's my opinion, which I hope can be upheld here
Without further ado, let me get to updating for the rest of you.
Arguas i will set a limit on the spells that will be set as a reward that way we deal with this whole power level thing. 2 spells will be offered equaling 4 slots worth you konw with rare=3 slots, Uncommon=2, and common=1. This way a person gets 2 spells but can only get one rare and one common, or two uncommons, or an uncommon and a common, or even 2 commons. The limit will be set to 2 spells so a person can not choose to just get 4 commons. It should aleave some of the problems i hope and some of the power issues.

But don't forget to update west dropoff when you get back
Back, I know I haven't been doing much here for a little bit, but as was said here, I've been trying to do other things. Forgive me everyone I'll get as much done as I can with the time I have.
There are a few rule changes that the other Mods and I have worked out.
1. Zero (0) cost spells can only be played once per turn. Furthermore, any activated ability you can play from the hand for no mana can only be played once per turn.
2. Not all Quests will result in 5 experience points.
3. Satchels are limited to 40 point totals. This number may go up as you level up.
New Satchel Point system:
The Point value of a spell is based on three things: Rarity, Format, and Number of casts
The formula is as follows: (# of casts x Rarity)+ Format = # of points
Rarity values as as follows: Commons = 0.5, Uncommons = 1 and Rares = 2
Format values: Xth = 0, Standard = 2, Extended = 4 and Legacy = 6
Example: 4 casts of Brute Force= (4 casts x 0.5) + 2 = 4 points total
Are scrolls and single use gems counted towards the spell total or do they not due to the limited use that is inherent in their nature.
Scrolls do not contribute to the maximum requirement. Gems which continually have a single use per combat, however, do count towards the maximum satchel pointage.
Also, I want to make something else clear that was discussed by the other moderators and myself. Any spell that was restricted in any format will fill a full gem with the power contained for one cast per combat. This means that any spell that was restricted can only be carried in a full gem. (4 spells for the cost basically to use once per combat)
I'm assuming that everyone is still under thier limits? or at the very least, everyone in a major quest is under limit?

On a serious note, everyone has a bit of a nerd in them. And it shouldn't be denied
