Question about death...
I don't really like the idea of permanent death in something like this. Do you think it'd be possible for PCs to be brought back with a penalty instead of just dieing and never returning?
EX
-1 lvl
-Xpts worth of gems in satchel
-experience
-gold
These could increase with each consecutive death
Most quests are not permanent death. If you "die" while on a quest, the WPL handles your failure and resuscitation in whichever manner he sees fit (I'm fairly certain all five of us are male). However, there are, by my understanding, two quests that have the permanent death effect tacked onto them. These are announced in advance and players would do well to read any and all disclaimers attached to quests before signing up for them.
In other words, if you don't like permanent death options, don't sign up for quests with those options. Fairly easy.
However, since there is a disclaimer that notes if permanent death happens, then I, for one, will show no mercy if a character realizes that effect too late.
We posted it, you read it.

Someone once asked me why, when I talk about House Dimir, I don't put the word "the" in front of it.

Just so people know, as I am not a fan of permanent death, I doubt anyone will ever permanently die on one of my quests. I do not like this because I could not imangine waking up tomorow and not being able to play as Forace anymore. I dont want anyone else to experience that either. Now this doesn't mean people should chargly blindly and get down to 0 life on my quests, because there will be punishments, but not death.
Right, and I'm not saying that a WPL has to run a permanent-death quest, but anyone who signs up for a quest should look for that little notice. I've got one in Quen's Tavern that I'll probably necro shortly and Fenris' Lorwyn quest is also permanent-death.

On permanent death: I have nothing against it being a possibility, especially for those quests that may have a higher reward potential.
Sure, I like my character, quite a bit actually, but it's the player's choice, and every quest I have read about that has a chance at actual death rather than disgrace has always been clearly marked.
Not for everyone, but for those who may wish a bit more of a challenge...

I once was in a WP (I don't remember if it was here or not) where they opened up a sub forum for pointless quests. I was thinking that it would be fun if we could have a subforum for random pointless battles. Maybe something to do to pass time, something to do for fun, ect...
Basically I would like to see an arena where you could have your characters, out of canon, fight any other characters for fun. You wouldn't have to participate if you don't want to; I like the battle system and I think it'd be fun to be able to battle other players whenever they want.
I think we need some sort of official physical fighting system, aka attacking with a weapon. Maybe you can attack with your weapon as opposed to playing a land. It just seems silly that Howler is sitting there in my quest with his axe drawn and he will have to use magic to fight.

I like this idea. However, it could prove to be too powerful. Maybe an attack instead of a land (like you said), missing one or two casts... missing a phase (untap, main, or attack)...
Just as an idea for Arena (Yes, MAYBE this is influenced by Battle Island or whatever it is called in Pokemon Emerald.) Have loaned satchel battles. Each combatant, rather than their own satchel, is given a level appropriate satchel to use for the duration of the battle.

Actually, I thought that I saw an Arena duel like that somewhere in the old posts. Couldn't tell you who was in it or anything, but it's there. I remember because of a comment about "using unfamiliar mana and gems".

They love and hate to see me walk through the door. I'm the man with the box, one to carry all his Standard cards with him. I've got the commons and uncommons they need. But I've also got my decks. If I walk into FNM, I came to play. And they never know what I'm gonna pull out of my hat next. I may lose more than I win, but it just might be THIS deck that has all the answers that they don't have answers for. They fear the unknown. They fear me. And they never see me coming!
Fenris had a duel in the arena where the participants had randomly determined satchels using dice rolling . . .

Yeah, he should be able to physically attack, if that's his style. It should come at a cost (less spells) but it should be allowed for someone to mix swordplay (or axeplay) and their spells.

I have an idea, but this would be more for forum maintenance rather than doing anything game-related.
I remember that we had a survey early on about whether or not completed threads should be deleted and it was decided that they should be viewable to everyone. However, there are a ton of locked threads cluttering up the general area, and I was wondering: would it be possible to make an area (called something like the "Hall of Conquest") where all the completed quest threads are put? it cleans up the general area and still lets people look at past achievements of mages before them.
tl;dr have a new sub-forum for all the locked and completed quests.
thoughts?

I actually like this idea very very much. The cluttering up of threads is more of a hassle than anything else.
Um. I think there should be a forum archive for threads that are quests, and then another that are arena battles or tournaments... This way people only have to search through like types of threads to find the type of thread that they are looking for.

Um, may i suggest when we level up we get to change appearance? Also, when we join a guild we gain a bonus or at least get a change in appearance?
I'm already going to do that; once my character joins a guild, I've got it all planned out how his physical appearance is going to change drastically. I don't see anything wrong with a player doing that, so long as they don't assume the changes will result in some sort of bonus (ex: my character is going to get decked out in armor, but it's not going to provide any protection, it's purely asthetic).
I think we need some sort of official physical fighting system, aka attacking with a weapon. Maybe you can attack with your weapon as opposed to playing a land. It just seems silly that Howler is sitting there in my quest with his axe drawn and he will have to use magic to fight.
Well, if you've noticed, the axe certainly get's used alot, so don't let that concern you.
I do like the idea, though, I'd love to be able to send my character into the fray alongside my chreatures without having to use one of my spells. Missing a land drop seems reasonable, and maybe just have the attack do the same damage as if the player was counterattacking a creature (so, by default, only 1 damage). Could become crazy if the player is weilding a 3/X weapon or something, but I don't think anyone has one of those yet.
Re: Change in appearance- You can really change your appearance at any time, as long as it does not effect the game. It will only be for visual and RPing purposes. I suggest you roleplay how you did it, for example you could buy armor, or get a big scar or something. I recommend you do something when you join a guild/inner circle. For example, Forace's flames just changed color.
Re: Suborum- There was talk about this when we made Estark and Ravnica. I dont think we ever decide anything. Lets see what the other mods have to say.
Re: Physical attack- I say, you can attack with your weapon at a cost of your land drop and one SPT. Also, one person does have a 3/X weapon. Also, note that you would be like any other creature, so you can be blocked.
Re: Dead Mage's Spells- This has not been discussed here, but let me let it be known. Sometimes, when a player goes inactive, the other mages in the quest will try to take his/her spells and sell them. I do not support this AT ALL. I think it is free money/spells, which is just plain stupid, and it is rewarding a player for nothing. Let it be know that I will NEVER support this, I do not care what you have to argue. It has happened once, and I do not want it to happen again.
Well, video, regarding selling a dead man's satchel, until we get a clear ruling, then it should be handled by the WPLs to their own methods, right? In other words, if it happens on your watch, tell them no, but don't interfere when it happens on ours. That way, unless we pull for a complete fleshing out of the circumstances, there is little conflict.
I mean, we're already using different methods for XP, anyway.

Also, do you want to discuss the sale of dead man's satchel stuff or keep it as is?
