Uh, guys, there is already a system in place by which player characters can get access to spells from sets before the Extended limit.

Never forget: there's always someone bigger, better and stronger than you.
Someone once asked me why, when I talk about House Dimir, I don't put the word "the" in front of it.
At the time, I had no answer, but it just came to me.
Do we put the word "the" in front of God?

Pretty much, yeah. Legacy is really powerful, so only dedicated players can use it.

Easy, you say? I don't think so... I've been playing this game since september or october and i'm still a lvl 3 mage. And from there leveling is even harder. But I don't say that an access to Legacy is available only in lvl 9 is a bad thing.
Ah but its supposed to be hard to level otherwise it wouldn't be fun. When you do get to level 9 you will say to yourself man that was fun now whats next.

I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.
...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.
Unless Ti'rin manages to make the White Simian Spirit Guide (which I think we agreed we are not making)... True Believer is still a turn too slow... and I would just kill him with one of my cards and then kill you, if you did manage to get him out before I could go off
This format is soo great, it allows consistent first turn kills for the satchel that I plan to make
However I would probably only use the first turn kills against white mages... otherwise it is no fun
So, why hasn't any green mage yet gotten Tarmogoyf....?
Also, completely on-topic (for once, lol, I'm gonna have to infract myself for spamming) I have a thought on how Kinship could work, once Morningtide is legal.
It involves a bit of math, but not too much.
We'll take Wolf-Skull Shaman for instance, because that's the first kinship creature I thought of. Okay, so you drop him. At the "beginning" of your next turn, use this formula (which can be done with dice):
Total # of spells: 20 Total # of spells that share a type with Wolf-Skull Shaman, counting all Wolf-Skulls for clarity: 14
So, 70% of that mage's deck is tribal. All right, seems a bit high, because in reality you have land cluttering it up, and here that isn't an issue.
Cut that number in half (35%). On a roll of 1-35, kinship triggers, giving the happy player a 2/2 Wolf. 36-00? Nothing. But hey, you still have the chance. You can reduce the chance based upon remaining spells, as well, making it harder to trigger once you have your guys defending you.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

Hallow and Luminesce are the only ones fast enough... unfortunately, Hallow only prevents damage from one spell... and do creatures count as spells once they have been cast?
Luminesce on the other hand is a good card, and probably could put a hindrance into my plans... but only temporarily, the opponent still has to deal with my cards once they are in play, and I do have more than just the combo pieces going for me... so it might be a little difficult to do... plus, if I go first, and I know your a white mage, you can pretty much say good buy to any chance you had at luminescing my cards
Additionally I like the method by which AOK has suggested handling kinship.

Creatures are permanents, not spells, once they are "in play".

You red mages.......:mad::mad::mad: I'll just point the white mages to Intervention Pact and Angel's Grace instead.
Failing that, Chalice of the Void would be a really, really, REALLY nasty trick to pull on an red mage.
Intervention Pact again would only really slow me down... unless they could answer all of my creatures, and burn spells... then they have a problem.... And if I go off before they have any mana in play (i.e. I am the first one to go, and am able to go off with only one mana in play)... then the probably aren't going to be using Intervention pact, as they would have to be able to pay its cost or play angel's grace during the upkeep!
Suffice to say, Chalice of the Void is too slow against the satchel I plan to make... sure it would be nasty if it were able to go off... but like I said, its to slow, and even if it does go off, it would need a grand total of 2 mana to stop me... I only need 1 mana to go off with the satchel I plan to be building... or in some cases, and if I have too, I can go off using 3 mana, and Chalice of the Void requires 6 mana to shut off a 3 mana card... you see the problem this all presents?

Back to the topic, though, I feel that upon level up, a person should be able to invest a certain amount of points in spells. Even (Using startup satchel ratios...1=common, 2=uncommon, 3=rare) 2 points a level.
