I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.
...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.
Like that, yeah. Though you probably wouldn't actually kill yourself with it. It's long-term benefit vs. short term survival.
Then again, maybe not- most players wouldn't use something like that, most likely.
And no, white mages are pretty useful. They just tend to be a little..what's the word I'm looking for...
Oh yes, good. Very, very good.
I sense the word "irritating" floating around. And my idea came from the fact that I have a lot of ideas that produce obscene amounts of life...staunched by the life cap. If I have life coming in, I would like to be able to utilize it more fully. That said, like many other things, it should differ in battle, and out. Perhaps in battle, the trade-off should be about 2 to 1? 2 HP spent, to gain 1 in an ally?
Might make white mages quite popular on the more dangerous quests, though- post a sign in every House but Benalia that reads: Don't Forget Your White Mage!
Either one does not affect my character; I was gunning for Golgari anyway. Makes me glad I'm questing with a green mage, so my character can get an idea of green mana and its usage in preparation for that time, should I live long enough (this is in doubt, I ritualistically insult every opponent I come across and one day I'll make a BIIIG mistake with that I'm sure).
Call it healing touch or whatnot; something like that- and it could be triggered in a time of dire need, the first time.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

Actually, what would be more in flavor for green, and probably keep them from overusing it, is to draw energy from surrounding plant life to do the same thing.
The catch?
It would kill off the plants. No self-respecting Druid would do that too much.

Plus, not every locale has plant life readily available, either.
Wonder how the two would work in the hands of a Selesnyan...?
I'll be posting a bunch of ideas tomorrow (I hope), if I can't post them tomorrow I'll post them as soon as I have time (busy with real life things you know ;))

I somewhat disagree with having a set list of abilities for players to choose from. I think when a mage reaches the level the WPLs decide, they all (including that player) should look at the character and how it's been RPd, and come up with an ability based on that.
For example, for those that haven't caught on, my character Kagdinel is very "physical." I only use creatures with first strike and spells that take some sort of physical form (Volcanic Hammer and Lava Axe are the two that I've used). I would probably want some ability that either gave me enhanced proficiency with or natural resistance to that kind of stuff. That's sumething me and the WPLs would have to discuss and refine to make it fair, but still useful.
That's how I think the whole "abilities" thing should work.
I mentioned something along those lines in an earlier post, but offering ideas for those of us who might be indecisive, or worried about balance, or maybe can't think of anything...that's a good thing.
I've seen a few themes from characters recently; I'm going for one myself.

Yeah, likewise, Kokusho. It boils down to one thing, really. Matching the player's style with the color, and still maintaining balance. The Healing Touch is a big one for me, as I have Tai as the benevolent, care minded type. Thus, the ability to help others fits perfectly.
I could really go for the -1/-1 power, and it would fit my character pretty well, especially when he lapses into his "Chaotic Evil" alter ego that is sadistic and bloodthirsty. Also my cannibalism ability would probably cost mana and a cast for the turn, plus it involves saccing a creature, which, depending on the situation may or may not be the best idea.
A brain blast just hit me.
About the cards that aren't extended legal-maybe you should be able to go on some sort of quest to unlock certain stuff. I dunno. Certainly restricted to higher levels, but you get the point.

Like, maybe a dangerous quest to the main setting of the set, possibly even involving a temporary portal to other planes (or realities of Dominaria). Once you cut a swath through hordes of enemies you reach an alternate Estark (or a village if you aren't on Dominaria) where you find a spell shop that sells cards from the set as though they were Xth edition (unless those are too cheap in which case it could sell for the same amount as Rav or Time Spiral).
Sort of like that, yeah. But with restrictions, of course; none of the REALLY broken stuff.

That sort of thing would take up castings, and possibly require you not block. Risky, but it could be decent...
