The gathered Boros soldiers gave a quick salute before nodding and returning to the care of their blades. They were true soldiers and knew that they simply had to follow the orders given to them. If they were ordered to stand fast against Rakdos rioters led by the Defiler himself, then by the light they would do their job with no questions asked. To serve and uphold the law was their passion. Nothing would deter these soldiers from fulfilling their duty.
The Selesnyans were another story. Their guildmage stepped forward apparently appointing himself as the speaker for the other Selesnya soldiers. Leaning forward on his staff, the guildmage bowed his head in respect to Tai saying, "Forgive me brother, but we are a bit confused about this air drop the commander spoke of. What exactly is he planning on us doing?"
"I'd be lying if I said I was exactly thrilled with the prospect, however, we must survive to destroy the portals, and with a frontal assault, our chances of succeeding drop immeasurably." Tai placed a hand on the Guildmage's shoulder. "Be brave, my brother. As the Chorus gives us hope, it gives us the strength to persevere."
Tai could see several of the other team leaders approaching a single clerk who seemed to be handing out small slips of papers. Behind the clerk on a table was a wide map with pins leading from Ravnica to Urborg.
The Boros soldiers under his command immediately stood up and fell in line behind him coming to a parade rest. The Selesnya while not quite as quick and crisp as the Boros also fell in line behind Tai waiting for him to lead the way. As to be expected of soldiers, they matched Tai stride for stride as he approached the logistics clerk.
As Tai came up to the logistics clerk another team leader had just left leaving a small moment for Tai to catch the clerk's eye. One look was all the clerk needed to drink in the sight of Tai leading a small assault team before he asked, "Which assault team are you?"
The clerk's head was buried in his notes as he checked the map waiting for Tai's answer.
The clerk's head swiveled to get a look behind Tai. There he paused for a moment looking over Tai's team before checking his clipboard for some notes. After a quick glance he looked up saying, "You're designated as omega team. What can I do for you, omega team leader?"
A quick glance at his notes was all the reference he needed as the logistics clerk said, "Have your team gathered in the courtyard within the next thirty minutes and ready to go. There your team will join up with the caravan that will be heading by water to the battle zeppelids. From their your team along with others will mount into the air to perform your high altitude drop into the swarms of undead. Pack light as our quartermasters have prepared proper nutrition for the voyage. Any questions?"
They each nodded to his order and fell in line behind him out of the room. Once the several of them glanced at the back of his head as he marched forward, all were waiting to see if he ordered them to a casual rest or if he had other plans...
As he walked, Tai spoke. "We are headed for a caravan that will take us to the Zeppelids. I advise you all to rest as much as possible in the time you have, as fatigue could be the difference between life and death, my friends."
I will be taking back over this quest. I apologize for my extended leave of absence, and thank Murphy for taking over for me.
We now return to your regularly scheduled quest.
They all nod, and the general riff of "Yes sir" can be heard. Some of the guardsmen relax, one even attempts to get a short power nap while leaning on the wall. The members of the Conclave spend their time meditating.
Unless you can think of anything else, I think we can move ahead half an hour.
A half hour passes quickly, and the crew makes their way into the bustling courtyard. The controlled chaos within seems to exemplify the essence of Boros' mana. As Tai watches, a huge Zepplid's claws let go of some ballast, and with a deep groan that rattles nearby windows, lifts off into the sky.
Tai sees an Orzhov thrall make its way over to him, calling out "Lieutenant!"
