Both Pearl-Ear and Sharp-Ear give Erin and the shade a moment before they speak again.
"We've actually been planning to move back to the Eiganjo area and help rebuild, now that the Kami War's over."
"You came just in time, actually."
"Unfortunately, even though Mochi's gone, some of the soratami still wish to wage their war against the orochi of Jukai. We could use some help getting back to Eiganjo. Do you want to come with us?"
"Eiganjo used to be where Daimyo Konda ruled. During recent events, it was destroyed. Since the Daimyo is, shall we say, no longer available, we were thinking of moving back there."
"The soratami look like thin humans, but with pale skin and long ears. The common name for them is moonfolk. They really have an inflated opinion of themselves. Guided by Mochi, the Kami of the Crescent Moon and their patron, they attacked the orochi during the Kami War. The orochi are, quite literally, snakes, but they have four arms and a pair of spindly legs."
"After the Kami War ended, Mochi fled Kamigawa. However, some soratami continue to attack the orochi-bito."
Halfway through, I realized Mochi actually survived in our reality. Oops.
"Relax for a bit. Enjoy your time with your shade friend."
"We're hoping for a report from Captain Silver-Foot soon."
"We'll introduce you to the others before we leave."
The captain nods, and leads the three kitsune to the far end of the encampment. Erin's eyes first pass over several humans, garbed in leather armour and carrying swords, in strict rank and file. Then, shockingly, they pass over kitsune, garbed in the same fashion, interspersed with the humans. About four kitsune and six humans.
Pearl-Ear glances back over her shoulder at Erin, watching Erin's reaction.
Erin just stares. She looks delighted by the sight of more kitsune. There's more than she ever could have dreamed! She was hoping to see one, maybe two. So far she's seen almost ten! She squeezes at the shade's hand as they move through the ranks. Not that she really notices they're garbed for war.
Erin's eyes turn towards the village and... She stops dead in her tracks. And stares. And stares. Eyes just swiveling back and forth from person to person.
Erin's hand comes up, almost shakily, and she just... Gestures to all the kitsune around. In whatever garb, whatever they're doing. The sheer numbers stagger her.
"Of course. You're used to being the only kitsune around." Pearl-Ear leads Erin to a nearby fallen log. "Sit down. Spend a bit of time to adjust to being in Kamigawa."
Erin nods, her hand still tight around the shade's. Sitting on the log and just... Staring at the society around her that she's never seen, never been a part of. Almost like Tarzan being thrown into London.

Both Pearl-Ear and Sharp-Ear rise and look at Erin expectantly.
