The three goblins and the faerie conclave each strike the man, and he grunts in pain from each blow. Snarling, he draws in more black mana, then raises his arms as a web of black and red threads covers the battlefield. Every scratch, every scar, every injury suddenly seems even more painful, the very thought of them causing intense mental agony.
With a gesture, his goblin charges forward again, striking out at Kassim.
Then, with a surge of red mana, a wave of fire roars out of the man, consuming all creatures nearby and leaving them nothing but charred husks.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Seeing the incoming wave of heat energy, Vorin acted quickly. He focused the power he had gained at the oasis at one of the goblins. As heat surrounded it and destroyed it's companions, it felt a rush of cool, soothing energy, sparing it from the pyroclasm. The golin opened its eyes to find both of its companions incinerated, turns to the man who cast the spell and charges with anger.
Vorin stepped out from the alley: "Ok Kassim, dont you think it's time to get out of here?" He summons up some more mana and takes the largest gem out of his satchel. He channels his mana into it and a dragon emerges in front of him, and fills the alleyway with its presence.
Actions:
-Use the two Oasis to save one Raging Goblin
-Attack with the surviving Goblin
-Come out of hiding and reveal myself
-Play a Mountain and cast Furnace Whelp
As the faerie conclave, the cloud elemental, and the goblin attack the man, he waves his hand and sends a bolt of electricity at the animated faerie.
OOC: Casts Shock at the Faerie Conclave. I'm going to proceed assuming Kassim returns the conclave to his library with Unsummon.
The elemental and the goblin strike the man, and he gasps in pain. He staggers back and almost falls. When he raises his head, he laughs a little, then draws in more red mana.
He extends his hands toward Kassim and Vorin, and lets loose two powerful blasts of electricity.
Then, drawing on his most powerful magic, the man releases a rolling black wave of death. It sweeps across the battlefield and devours all creatures it touches, turning them to dust.
OOC: He casts Lightning Bolt at each of you, then casts Damnation. Remember, with Pain Magnification on the battlefield, you each have to discard a card when you take 3 or more damage.
Bandit Overlord
Life- 12

OOC: MMQ, I'm pretty sure that is how it works. I'll discard a Ghitu Encampment
Vorin watched the wave of death devour his dragon and decided he would need a new battle strategy. The lightning bolt singed him, but he managed to get up, as he was still fresh. He summoned his last two goblins, one of which was eager to return to battle. Grabbing his newly summoned comrade, the first goblin charged at the bandit to avenge his lost comrades.
Meanwhile, Vorin focused his remaining mana into his arm, ready to blast back.
Actions:
-Play Mountain
-Cast 2 Raging Goblins and attack with both
The bandit again is assaulted by the goblins, and is bleeding from many different wounds by now.
Drawing in more red mana, the man again summons a powerful firestorm, letting it sweep across the battlefield to consume the enemy goblins. Then he summons a goblin and a bat, sending the goblin to attack Vorin.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
When the rush of fire came, Vorin used the mana from the Oasis to protect one of his goblins. Vorin let the bandit's goblin charge him and attack. Vorin didn't seem to be hurt too badly by the attack. As the goblin was retreating, Vorin gathered the mana he had been focusing and shot a blast of fire right at the bandit.
"Kassim. I think it's time to end this. I'm going to unleash all I've got. If it doesn't work, cover me."
Vorin took two gems out of his satchel and focused all his mana energy into them. He shot out two blast of lightning and one strong blast of fire right at the bandit, hoping to finish the battle once and for all.
Actions:
Use Oasis x2 to save one of my goblins
Take one from your goblin
At the end of your turn, cast Incinerate targeting you
My turn: Cast Incinerate, Shock x2 all targeting you.
OOC: This is 10 damage, so I am pausing to see if it kills you. If it does not, I will finish my turn (land drop and attack)
The bandit is struck unaware by the fiery assault, and is left a charred and smoking corpse by Vorin's magic. Several moments later, a horn sounds somewhere in the city, and a cheer goes up.
After a moment, several armored mages appear with spells ready. Seeing the bandit lord dead, they relax. Their apparent leader approaches the two victorious mages. "You two. You were the ones who killed the leader and ended the attack, I take it?"
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Vorin smirked. Red mana was still new to him, and he had never really had the satisfaction of burning someone to a crisp in such a way before. His elf brethren really did prefer stealthier kills, but something told him that, were they still on his side, they would have enjoyed that display.
Shortly after observing the bandit lord disintegrate, Vorin feel to one knee and felt all his muscles tense up. He had barely been touched in the battle, but gathering all that red mana was difficult for him, he was surprised he had been able to repress the pain for the entire battle. Perhaps the presence of the Oasis energy helped soothe the pain.
He saw the armored mages approach, and he clenched his hand pessimistically. He wasn't one to let his guard down, but he simply could not hold on to his red mana after that attack and released it all. Fortunately, the mages seemed to be on his side.
He said nothing. He really did not believe in this fight to begin with, so he did not want to talk about it with the mages. When they spoke up, he turned his head to Kassim.
"Felix," the apparent leader says. He wears some sort of red bandana around his face, probably to keep out the sand. All the other mages with him wear different colored bandanas. Black, blue, green, and white, respectively.
"I guess I'm the unofficial guard captain here. We don't have much trouble with crime, but me and my boys keep the bandits away. They snuck up on us this time though. By the time we managed to get into the fight, it was apparently almost over, thanks to you."
The black bandana-wearing guard steps forward. "I can't help but notice the timing of the raid. Why did they attack the moment you arrived in town?"
"Verris," Felix scorns. "They just killed the raid leader. You think they're involved? Get your xenophobic head out of the sand." Felix turns to the group. "That said, I can't help but wonder what you're doing all the way out here. We don't see visitors often. When we do, they're usually looking for something. Or someone."
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Hearing Felix's words, Vorin felt vindicated. The village was not weak. The guards were simply caught off guard, and they weren't so defenseless that he and Kassim had to jump into this conflict with the bandits. They should have just left like he said, and they would have been back in Estark by now. There was an extremely strange satisfaction in helping those in need, but Verris's skepticism only cemented the fact that he and Kassim simply disrupted the natural order, and intervening was never the proper action.
As Vorin awaited Kassim to respond to Felix and explain their situation, he couldn't help but notice the redness of Felix's bandana. Something peculiar about it had captured his attention. As he felt his muscles, still aching from the extreme amount of red mana he had just focused into one attack, Vorin wondered how powerful Felix, or any other the other mages were, and he was glad to have a friendly red mage on his side.
"Yes, of course," says Felix. "The Desert Totem is a test for our young mages. You must go to the totem and form a bond with this desert as a rite of passage. Of course, visitors are welcome to visit it as well. Just make sure you are back quickly. Sand twisters tend to form around the totem. It's only fifty yards outside of town. Not difficult to spot."
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
"Before you go," the green bandana-wearing mage says. "Allow me to thank you for helping us."
He waves his hand, and a wave of gentle green mana flows from him into both Kassim and Vorin.
OOC: He casts 2x Stream of Life, fully healing both of you. Your spell gems are still spent from the battle, but you're both at full life now.
Outside of town, Kassim and Vorin see the totem. It sits in the center of a small plateau, the sun beating down harshly. Stairs are carved into the side of the plateau, leading to the top edge.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
OOC: Do the cards from play go to the graveyard? And do we still have our lands?
OOC: This is in response to the green mage healing us.
"Kassim. It seems like we're about to head into a fight. Most of my spells are spent from our last battle, and I'm sure yours are too. Shall we rest for a while in the town before departing for the totem?"
Vorin's body still ached from all the red mana he had conjured and he was worried about what would happen if he were to rush back into battle.
OOC: You don't have your lands, but you still have the ability to cast any creatures that were alive at the end of the fight. Also, I'll let you know that you won't be doing any heavy fighting. Anything that you'll be up against, you'll be able to handle as-is.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Vorin trusted Kassim, who had seen how the red mana had been affecting him throughout the journey. Kassim's word's reassured him and he began walking out of the village.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Vorin and Felix trudge outside the town, the scorching sun threatening to dehydrate them even on a short walk.
Soon, they arrive at the base of the plateu. The staircase up the side of the rock is narrow and worn. It looks like it might be easy to slip off the side and fall to the sand below.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Vorin saw Kassim nod and began to ascend as well. Since Kassim was focusing on making sure the path was safe, Vorin was keeping vigilant and constantly checking the surroundings.
As the two reach the top, they see their goal. Perhaps twenty yards ahead, a carved rock pillar, five feet tall. Designs of some kind are etched into its sides, and the top is shaped into a bowl.
Around the totem, the sand is whipped into dunes, as though a great whirlwind had spun it into those shapes.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Vorin, accustomed to seeing elemental monsters spawned from nature, began to summon mana and he was ready to blast anything that came towards him. He continued walking toward the totem.
Still sore from the last battle, his body ached as he gathered the mana.
