OOC: By that, I assume that the last two jackals attacked, one was blocked by a cloud elemental, and one was killed by me (shock)
Hearing the final jackal approaching him, Vorin quickly turned, blasted it, and continued walking towards the settlement. The attackers were finally gone, so this was definitely not a good time to stop. He could finally approach this place without distraction. Realizing that more creatures were probably lurking in the desert, Vorin was much more alert while moving; he was also moving a little quicker. He released his connection to his mana in order to ease his physical pain and hopefully cool himself down.

Vorin had hoped that the lack of a battle and its stress would make the heat stop...but it didn't. It continued to beat down on him. Vorin looked down at his canteen and feared that he should conserve some water, as he'd just drank twice within the past few minutes, although sparingly. He continue to move on. The beating sun was making him tired, but he would not slow down.
The desert seemed to stretch on forever and it was becoming harder and harder for Vorin to continue on. However, he refused to let it show to Kassim, so he kept on walking. His weak legs began to feel heavy but he kept on lifting them and putting one in front of the other. He was constantly glaring at the smoke on the horizon but it never seemed to be getting closer. There was nothing to do but to keep walking, and hope that he could make it safely.

As the journey continued, he began taking deeper breathes as he moved, which was calming and cooling him slightly. The stress of this situation had stressed him, messing with his breathing. Calming himself allowed him to continue momentarily without tiring. As he walked, he tried to remember to control his breathing.
The journey was much longer than Vorin had anticipated, as the settlement did not seem to be getting closer. All he could see was sand. As he continued to walk, he slowly stopped thinking. He just put one foot in front of the other. His mind was focusing solely on this task.

He kept going. The monotonous soft sound his feet made as they hit the sand became like a drumbeat, which kept him moving no matter how hot it was.
Vorin was relieved to see something proving to him he was actually getting somewhere. However, this was not time to rest. He had to keep on moving, and that's what he did.

The rejoice from the signs of civilization was short-lived. The heat was finally catching up to Vorin. Not wanting to exhaust himself when the end seemed so close, Vorin took another larger swig from his canteen. He felt refreshed, but was definitely still tired as he kept walking.
Also, Vorin noticed that Kassim had kept his connection to his mana from the previous fight. In fear of another stupid attack keeping them from making it to their destination, Vorin decided to gather a small bit of mana to be ready to fight. He cringed as the red mana burned through his body, but he kept walking ready for what he pessimistically feared was coming.
Keep on moving. Just keep on moving. Stay alert, and keep on moving

Breathing heavily in the heat, Vorin downed more of his water. He looked down to his canteen, fearing that he would not have enough to finish the journey.
The rhythm of Vorin's footsteps and the soft sound it made when his feet hit the sand were the only things keeping him going. His breathes were becoming very deep and long as he tried to conserve his energy. As the hours went on, he began feeling more and more confident. But, usually, he continue to keep himself focused on only one thing. Step,step.step,step.step,step.step

Vorin was definitely becoming more accustomed to the heat. He kept walking, occasionally wiping the sweat from his forehead.
Vorin saw the well up ahead and got excited. He tried to speed up, but he was exhausted and quickly decided to simply continue at his normal pace and to not over exert himself.

Hoping to refill his canteen ahead, Vorin did not feel guilty about taking a big swig from his canteen to relieve himself from the heat.
Suddenly, the heat became even more unbearable. Vorin threw his head back in discomfort and closed his eyes sharply as if hoping this would all go away. He paused for a moment, squated down for a moment to gather himself, and then kept walking. Kassim wasn't letting down, so Vorin wouldn't either. Plus, he didn't seem to have much of a choice at this point, the oasis was way too far away to turn back. Praying that the end of this trek would come soon, Vorin kept walking, reassuring himself with each step that he was now one step closer to his goal.
Vorin's whole body felt heavy. His eyes were sinking, his arms were pulling him down and his feet were dragging. He wanted nothing more than to collapse and hope for the heat to magically go away. He felt the pain in his scars and in his entire body. The heat only reminded him of his weakened state. Unable to hang on anymore, he released the connection to his mana, allowing him to focus all his energy on walking. Taking a swig of water, Vorin kept walking. This new rush of energy propelled him forward, but he clearly was running out of strength and energy...and water.
You reach the settlement at long last. As you near the well, your strength finally gives out. The last thing you see before darkness takes you is a couple townsfolk rushing to you.

Some time later, you regain your senses. You hear quiet chatter around you, but can't make it out over the pounding of your head.
As vorin neared the well, everything became blurry. He seemed so close, but he simply could not retain his balance. He took a step, misplaced his foot, and fell to the ground. Unwilling to give up, Vorin focused everything he had into taking just a few more steps, hoping at some point it would all the sudden change for the better. He felt like a failure, Kassim had obviously been stumbling but something kept him going that Vorin simply did not have. Unable to hold his position for a moment longer, he simply collapsed to the ground and the right side of his head slammed onto the sand. As he shut his eyes, he saw an extremely blurry image of Kassim falling to the ground as well. In a strange way, he felt comforted that they would fail together.

Vorin finally began to come to his senses. His mind had been through such and ordeal, he didn't even begin to think about where he might be. His vision was extremely blurry still. He tried to say something, but all that came out was a few mutterings to himself. He rolled over to return to a state of sleep when he rolled onto his right side. Quickly returning to his old position, he grabbed his head in agony. There was a gash where his head had hit the ground as he collapsed. He shook in the agony of the pain. He was unable to think as this sensation flooded his body. His body burned inside, as he rested his hand over the injury and drifted back into unconsciousness.
As Vorin drifts back to the land of the living, he and Kassim see healers bustling about, one busily tending to the wound on Vorin's head. "What were you two thinking, crossing the desert on foot?" One of the women asks Kassim sternly.
Hearing someone speaking, Vorin begins to fade back in. His vision, though extremely blurry, finally allows him to focus on his canteen directly next to him. He reaches over and grabs it, drinks all the water that is in there. His muscles became less tense, and his vision began to restore to normal. He simply lay back down assuming that Kassim would answer the question. He felt fortunate to be alive.
Kassim found his belongings were with him, nothing removed. "We didn't feel you were a threat, we simply question the wisdom of travelling the wastes on foot. How you didn't die from the elements, I am amazed."
Vorin had fully returned to a conscious reality. He lay in the bed without moving, but his eyes were fully open and he was finally completely aware. He spent the time letting his thought catch up with him as he slowly began to piece everything together. While he felt he could've added to the discussion, he decided to stay quiet and let Kassim do the talking.

Vorin stumbled momentarily. He fell to the ground and sat there for a second. Somewhere, he found the energy to get back up and keep walking.
