Sorry! Been on vacation for a bit...enjoying it too much...lol
Kam studied the tracks at the fork for a bit longer, then turned to Xiras.
"The Goblins seem to be heading towards that direction." Kam said, pointing towards the Eastern path. "And one set of unknowns exclusivly head toward the other path. The third set is split between the two." Kam paused while weighing his options.
"The old man did say it was an orc leader surrounded by ogres guarding the key, or vice versa. Those two sets could very well lead directly to the key. I think we should head that way." Kam said, pointing twards the Western track.

Kam impresses once again with his tracking skills and he is astute recalling details from the talk in Estark.
"Good point about the orc and ogres guarding the key, it had almost slipped my mind. Truth be told, I would rather like to avoid the goblins again if possible their numbers tend to be numerous and my magics are less effective against large numbers. So we are agreed the western fork it is."
Xiras turns and starts to head along the left fork keeping an eye out for danger

Kam nooded in agreement with the mage's logic, and followed Xiras down the Western Fork. As he progressed, he looked down the path behind him ocasionally, making sure noone was following them.

Kam's worried looks back are never met as the pair moves into the mountains. As they make their way deeper into the mountains they start to hear a steady drumming sound that seems to be coming from the mountain itself.
As Xiras walks his head feels like it is thumping and he grows concerned.
Great I must have hurt myself worse than I realised in that fall.
As the pair approach the mountain the thumping grows more intense and he realises it is not his head but in fact the sound of drumming, he stops and hold up his hand gesturing for Kam to stop
Kam paused at Xiras warning, almost hypnotized by the rythmic beat of the drumming coming from ahead. He couldn't place where the drumming was coming from, but he knew the sound was steadily getting louder.
"I hear it, Xiras, but I can't place where it is coming from, just that its coming from up ahead." Kam replied. "We should head farther, but be cautious. First sign of trouble, stop and we'll check out the sceen."
Kam headed farther into the mountains, slowly heading towards the drumming.

He peers over the ledge and towards to source of the sound.

Just past the ridge Xiras sees a gathering of Ogres and Orcs dancing around what looks to be a stone head that is half buried in the ground. A small group of them are playing some rudimentary looking drums. A heavyset Orc white face paint sits on top of the stone head, with a small bowl in his hands that he is gazing into.
OOC: Again sorry I have been sick, feeling better now and will be posting regurlary from now on.
Xiras surveys the scene but there doesn't appear to be any sign of the key that they are searching for. he backs away from the ridge getting out of sight of the gathering.
"I cannot see any sign of the key we are searching for down here and I do not see the point of fighting here when we can sneak past quite easily with all the noise they are making. What are your thoughts"

OOC: I apologize too! my work schedule exploded, so I havent had any free time at all, but now that things have calmed down, I should be able to keep up now.
Kam shook when Xiras spoke to him, not sure if he was daydreaming or not. He shifted his attention directly on the mage.
"I don't know. Usually rituals are associated with holy figures and artificats, especially with primitive cultures-the key could be there. I don't think they would break out the fanfare if it was just a simple party." Kam said, listening to the banging of the drums. "Let me get a good look at what we are dealing with. Keep watch while I see whats going on."
Kam kept low as he approached the ridge, taking in the sight that was before them. He took a long look, silently counting how many creatures were in the area, and their movements. He also made a silent note to look for anything metallic in the area, getting a good view of the celebration going on.

As Kam moved forward a scantly clad female Orc made her way from just outside the Mage's viewing range. She is holding her hands out in front of her and has something shiny resting in them.
Kam takes a second longer to look at the Female Orc. She seems to be fully intent on the object in her hand, so he pays more attention to it. Listening to Xiras' question, he takes his focus off the ritual, and returns back to the mage guarding the path.
"The rituals going into full swing. A female orc has brought in something of importance, and it does have a shine to it. I think we may have found the right place." Kam said, shifting his attention to the road. "I believe the shiny object is the key-our employer did say that it would be something that they revere. The question is, are they going to appreciate us taking something that is sacred to them?
Kam sighed, moving his gaze to the dacing flames and drums in the distance. "Personally, I dont like the idea of taking a sacred object to a group of people but it is our job to retreive that, especially if it has dire consequences. Considering our warm welcome, I think we should be prepared for battle." Kam turned to the mage. "What do you think?"

"Yes, I don't imagine they will be too pleased with us taking their relic, so I think we have no choice but to battle here.", Xiras pauses to ponder for a moment "We'll go along with a modification of my original plan, we'll sneak into an advantageous position using the sound of the drumming to cover us and then ambush them. Sound Reasonable?"

Kam paused for a second, debating over the options.
"If these were more reasonable creatures, I would be willing to see if we could negotiate with them. But it seems like we have no choice. You're right, we probably have to fight these creatures for that key." Kam responded, after a minute.
He shifted his weight around, getting rid of the last moment of hesitation. "Let's go with your plan. Take a look around, and find a suitable position." Kam said. "I'm starting to get a bad feeling, and I'm thinking we need to get this done quick."
Kam turned his focus to the road, watching the path.

The direct path in front of the Mages is completely open ground. To the east side there is a large amount of brush, potentially useful as cover, that would allow them to get within a hundred yards or so. While it is not very dense there is a lot of it. To the west is a large tree which appears large enough for both of them to hide behind. It is about 25 yards away from the Orcs, but there is only sparse cover for them to be able to get to it.
Xiras peers over the ridge again and weights their options
Clearly a straight forward charge would be folly, it might catch the creature offguard but in all likelihood the would be seen approaching and meet with resistance, to ambush them we need to get as close as possible.
The closer the better really, the large tree to the west offered the best position to attack from but there was little cover to make there way there, would the creatures be too engrossed in the ritual to notice them make the dash?
No, too much relies on things not under my control, we cannot risk blowing the advantage of surprise for a better position. The East route lets us get close enough to maintain some form of advantage without the risk of been suddenly rush into combat.
Xiras edges back and sits up turning toward Kam.
"We shall make our way to a point of the edge of the thicket, we'll have cover the whole way and a short dash to ambush them. I'll take point."
With that, he stands to a low crouching postion and makes his way into the scrub.
