"Birds will get at the crops," Daniel says, drawing a (very) short sword, and looking around. "Woah!" he shouts, whirling to the right. Three new scarecrows have appeared there.
Xen motioned for Wynn to calm herself saying, "Careful with your mana. We don't know what's going on here..."
Xen then looked around for a scarecrow and noticed the three that appeared suddenly. Not hesitating he moved right up to the three with palms up, dagger sheathed, and without a single land connection. He wanted a closer look and was sure he could handle himself should something happen.
Wynn collected her thoughts and gathered her mana, but held for now...if these things were hostile, she'd attack. But if they were just puppets...no use in wasting a spell on them. She'd wait and see, cautiously.

Aramil cannot feel any minds around him apart from those in the group.
There's silence as Xen approaches the three, as if the world is holding its breath.
There is now no movement around the group, but they can feel a strange magical field, as if all the colors of mana start to spread into everything around them. They can't quite determine where this is coming from.
Krensae silently cracks his claws and draws the coral blade. If they move for Xen, I'm going to have to get him out of the way before I attack. His scales tingle from the red mana he feels.

MTG: The RPG Character: Zenith RIP Krensae Fluidtail: Sleep well with the fish
Xen can't really determine the source, as he walks forward.
From this silence, the three lifeless scarecrows leap into the air with an artificial screech, bearing Xen to the ground. Simultaneously, what looks like an army of scarecrows leap out from the wheat, charging the group.
Despite having not drawn any mana and being ambushed Xen had a plan. He always had a plan. He just didn't like what those plans entailed. So when the three scare crow creatures jumped at him he rolled backwards and called upon the power of the elven spirits. Coming up he channeled that mana into a spell that quickly masked his presence from the creatures allowing him to evade them.
Then running back towards the group Xen cleared his mind of thoughts and called upon the forests. Silhouetted by a green aura and a forest mirage behind him, Xen stood ready to respond to any more threats from the scare crows.
Support. That's what the group needs from me right now.
Reaction to attack: Use ability from Elvish Spirit Guide and channel mana into a Fog spell.
Seeing the protective measures Xen employed, Aramil decided to focus his energy elsewhere.
Using his powers of mental implanting, Aramil connected his mind to Brigid's and said. "Start getting your fellow Kithin to a safe distance. You can't see me, but I will follow. Together, we can protect your kin while the rest of my team focus on dismantling these...things. Come on, let's go."
"Yes. Start moving them now, I can speak for at least my elven friend that you do not wish to be around when she gets her mana going. Start moving them back, and I will lend all my available power to defending them should the things move from their path."
Brigid nodded, even though she couldn't see Aramil. She motioned to Daniel and the three soldiers escorting the group. "Get away from the mages! Something big's gonna happen!"
The three nodded, and led Daniel away, towards Kinsbaile. Brigid followed, bow ready. She looked at Wynn and the others, and said "We'll be back!"
Aramil connected to everyone but Deraxas and said simply, "I am taking them to safety. I believe you all can handle this, but if you need me, my spells will carry the distance."
Wynn looks around. "It's gonna take me three minutes to get rid of them. Hold them off until then, I'll clean up." Drawing mana, she launches the prepared beam of sunlight at the scarecrow charging her.

Xen whips his head towards Wynn and cries out, "What do you mean you'll get rid of them? You're not planning on unleashing that spell powered by the plains are you!? We are in the middle of a village!"
Wynn looks back, confused. "You have a better idea? They're attacking, and this kind of magic is very specific. A small concussive backblast shouldn't be *that* bad compared to the alternative!"

Xen seemed quite worried as he told her, "Have you used that spell on this plane yet? You have no idea how it will interact with the people living here!? You could end up killing all of them! We do have alternatives."
He thinks for a second before adding, "If you do wish to use that spell then please wait until Aramil confirms that the town has been evacuated. Using that kind of magic is dangerous."
OOG: You're still some distance away from the village, in the fields. The walls of Kinsbaile are in sight, but at least two football-field's lengths away.
IG: The lance bounces off the creature, earthing itself in the dirt next to the scarecrow.
Xen hasn't actually cast that spell yet and has no experience. Also the distance you just gave us makes it quite a bit clearer. I still feel Xen would caution Wynn against using that magic.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

Remember, the girl that just killed an aspect of herself before literally consuming her?
Yeah, I don't see her handling a pissing match in any way other than a duel.

I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.
...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.
The fog keeps Krensae from swinging at the scarecrows. Wouldn't do if I hit Xen. Instead, he contents himself with forming a sphere of blue and waiting.

OOC: Is it possible for me to notice the 'crows with wither, or must I see them hit something before it clicks?
Krensae may recognize thorny items, and/or serrated swords as things that MIGHT have wither, however the only time he ever saw things with wither was in the portal. He never saw anything on Lorwyn with wither. However, I think wither will be the least of your problems.
Brigid looks over her shoulder at the five mages, and her eyes widen as the wheat is blasted apart by the horde of scarecrows attacking them. She gives the soldiers another shove, and accelerates.
There is a huge roar as scarecrows of all sizes, some scutting on the ground, others flying through the air, two lugging along what look like vats of acid, others shambling forward. All of them, however, are either charging at the huge magical source, or circling around it, seemingly ignoring the Kithkin. One charges at the Kithkin, and before they can even drop into a defensive stance, the creature leaps into the air, clearing the kithkin in one jump. They count their blessings, and continue their run to the gates.

Carefully, he called out to the world around him, trying to find a source for the disturbance he felt.
