Wynn had to make a stop at her house, and returned with a sack filled with bandages and other mundane healing materials. Crovax had been gracious enough to let the senator take some of the house's vast medical supplies, and for that she was thankful. She also wanted to grab a certain spell gem...one she had never used, but it seemed like it could be a great diplomatic tool. Its powerful mental magic might also be able to sway the opinions of some of the other mages.
Unlike last time, Wynn knew this was not going to be just meeting and greeting with important people from the plane. She would be traipsing all over the place, and her wardrobe reflected it. Gone was the fancy wardrobe she had used for Senatorial engagements, in its place was a much simpler, more functional wardrobe. A simple green tunic with tan overcoat, and a longer blue skirt. Sturdy boots on her feet, and a messenger-style bag holding all the essentials she thought she would need.

Xen stood up in the tavern as Brigid announced that she was ready to move. He felt uncomfortable about the alien voice that had been in his head and felt wary. Xen wasn't sure if he trusted someone who could read his thoughts, let alone someone who criticized him for analyzing the strengths of those around him so as to better support the group.
Now was not the time to think about such things, especially if that voice was listening in. Though....
Elven friend, eh? Xen thought.
Xen looks at Aramil who seemed to be the only person Deraxas was familiar with or could even consider a friend, especially given their flirtation.
Aramil? That's quite the talent you have there...
I can understand your distrust of me, it seems to be in your nature. We'll speak again when you wish.
Then walking over to Brigid Xen exchanged a few words with her finding out where they were to meet. He explained that he had not had the chance to stop by his house to stock up for the expedition let alone had time to get another shirt.
Once he had the location of where they would meet up Xen bowed to Brigid and left the tavern for House Shanodia. There he quickly washed up and gathered a new set of clothing. Pulling on his loose red pants Xen sat down on his bed and slipped his tabi onto his feet tightly. Next he put on a white short sleeve shirt made of light material. He was about to leave when he recalled that Brigid had commented that the plane was without sun light. That could make things very cold. On his way down to the Shanodia stores Xen grabbed his long sleeve heavy green coat that ran down to his calves, that would help keep him warm while fighting off the weather of this unknown plane.
In the store rooms of Shanodia Xen packed lightly as he had seen the supplies Brigid had acquired. A few bandages here, some rations, four water skins because he didn't know the lay of the land, and finally a small booklet with quill and ink to record some of his findings. The charcoal and parchment that Brigid had acquired would be more than enough for taking notes. The booklet however was for himself, he had too many ideas floating around in his head that needed to be recorded, especially if he ever wanted to fully explain them to the Selesnya. Wanting to have the quill and ink as well as the book close at hand for notes Xen placed them into his satchel and pick up his pack carrying it on his back.
Hoping he hadn't held up the expedition he left the House and soon Estark. Within a short moment he came upon Aramil, Krensae, and Wynn waiting at the portal. It looked like he had beaten the elf to the portal as he walked to Brigid's side and sat down calmly waiting. He had spared Aramil only a glance as he had passed by but other than that his focus remained on what would come.
He had a few more questions he wanted to ask but none that needed immediate answering. Most of those questions centered around going through the actual portal and Deraxas wasn't here yet so asking now would be a waste of time.
OOG: If AoK hasn't posted by Tuesday, I'll mod her along.
IG: Brigid readied her bow, and nocked an arrow. She didn't pull it taught, but held it ready. "We'll wait until our elven friend shows up," she says, "then we'll move in. It's her world as much as it is mine."
Curious Xen reached out with his thoughts opening himself to Aramil thinking,
You had wanted to speak earlier but had requested not to do so in front of the elf. Is this because she can hear our thoughts as well? If not we could always talk about your distrust of me while we wait to go through this portal.
"Provided we speak in this manner, we can have that discussion right now. I don't want to speak about this in front of her because she doesn't take well to my...methods. It's better not to distress her with more talk of such things."
Xen lowered his head and closed his eyes as he fell into a traditional meditative stance while carrying on the 'conversation' with Aramil. Curious about Aramil's ability Xen imagined his mind like a calm lake whose ripples were being read by Aramil's third eye.
I'm curious as to what your normal methods are but I am also mindful of your distrust you had mentioned. So I will answer your questions first if you agree to do so for me when I ask as much of you. Is this agreeable?
"I will find out more from you by what you ask than anything I could discern from what I would ask you. You may proceed with your interrogation of me, as it seems you have been planning to do for some time."
You find an inherent flaw with rats? Why do you assume that rats or any other creature or being should be less than or more than another? You exist. I exist. They exist. Each of us is like a rock that can be thrown at a puddle, the result causing ripples. Knowing the rock and the ripples allows one to see the potential picture and plan accordingly.
Xen can almost hear a distant voice sigh and mumble something unpleasant about druids, but he can't hear exactly what or who is saying it.
"I do not enjoy feeling as if I am a tool for you to work with. Granted, I have nothing to fear. Out of all of us, I am the most capable of controlling one's mind. Let's move on. You have more questions, I am sure."
Aramil felt a hint of Xen's mirth ripple to the surface as he thought,
A tool? Interesting word choice given the nature of humanoids. Everything about our being is the manipulation of the outside world to our advantage. Making use of tools, even people. I can see why you would be upset at being compared to as a tool. But I do not see everything that way. For me it comes down to cause and effect.
I have always been able to read into people and places to see an ever flowing chain of events. Each of is but a link in that chain, a chain that I needed to understand in order to support and keep from snapping. So why do you feel so upset over being viewed this way? Perhaps that is why you betrayed and sent a planeswalker after your old House?
"I have never been well suited to the role of a tool for another. Instead, I am more apt to be using tools to my end. If you believe me to be something that you will mold to your whims, then we shall have problems.
I did nothing of the sort. I sent a powerful pyromancer after my old master to burn his beard off. What I got was a planeswalker that decided bombarding the entire building to be an effective strategy. Such is the way gambles work out when they involve sorcerers."
Xen noted Aramil's comfort with using others and his insecurity at the mere thought of being the tool. The man liked to be in control and Xen did not know if he wanted to pursue that line of thinking quite yet. Instead Xen thought,
Why would you send a pyromancer after your Master?
In truth, he wronged me, and I wished vengeance. What I got was more akin to seeking a head for an eye, but as I said, once takes risks when they pick a sorcerer. They either spit embers or infernos."
Interesting lapse on your part then. I mean you just told me you like to manipulate people as tools yet you took an irrational step. You took a gamble, something I would not expect from a wizard, and went for blood. I know of only a few things that affect a person's judgment so. One being alcohol and the other being family or a loved one.
"Try as you might my druidic companion, you will not discern the source of my ire for my former master. I spent far too long being rehabilitated for that issue to dredge it up again.
Besides, the matter has been settled for those who were involved in the situation. I will leave it at that.
I will say this, though. I have lost love before, and it is why I am who I am."
Again Aramil got a whiff of Xen's mirth and amusement as he thought,
Is that my goal?
Maybe.
However I am beginning to wonder if my initial impression of you was wrong. Your actions and our conversation has lead me to think that you are not as calm, and logical as I expected. I certainly hope your diplomacy in Lorwyn will be far better than your actions here. I can already tell that the Viashno may cause issues in that area.
Can we rely on you not having another lapse of control and lashing out without thinking through the consequences?
"I believe you may have been more correct with your original impression that you realize.
When I did what I did, I did it while under some sort of mental breakdown due to a traumatic even of my past. I have since been rehabilitated, found the loving embrace of black mana, and I feel I am in my more control of my mind than I ever have been.
How else could I be so efficient at using said mind to tear apart the minds of my foes? You saw for yourself how adept I am in that field."
You do have some intriguing powers that are quite destructive to one's mind. I would not enjoy feeling any of those powers, though I am quite certain we would both learn a great deal from such an encounter...
Black mana provides you with a loving embrace?
...
Could you explain this embrace? About how you interact with your mana. Do you have to guide your connections? Must you push the mana forward? How does the actual mana feel to you?
"Black mana is not the evil force many would have you believe. It is the embodiment of ambition. That can certainly lead people to perform foul and vile deeds, but the cold feeling of black mana flooding your form is a feeling that truly awakens the soul.
My mana flows through me like thoughts flow through a mind. It is ever present, and ever changing. When I draw upon my mana, I am simply focusing the mana that is already present into form. To me, drawing mana and feeling mana are like breathing to you."

Brigid opens up the door to Quen's and starts to head out. "Let's get to the portal."
After about ten minutes of walking, the party makes its way to the portal.
(OOG: You may insert any RPing here that you wish)
Brigid walked up to one of the people manning the barricade. "What's happened while I've been gone?"
"They tried twice to get through. One time is was goblins, the other was Kithkin."
"Kithkin?"
"Yeah, we didn't let them through. We forced them back through. We haven't gone through, like you instructed."
"Well, then we don't have any time to lose."
