Your update will come later this weekend. I need to gather my notes on this encounter. First I must know if you are choosing test of wills or combat (using spells). Both are highly similar in mechanics but involve different reactions.
I think I'm using a battle of wills. However spells might help me along the way, if only for roleplaying's sake. No stats are needed, I'll likely use my mana to maneuver through the fight, no real spells, but if I DO use any spells I figure that blue mana will do blue things and black mana will do black things (like, Blue defense, black offense).

"1-5 : Lose that color's limb, if limb is already lost then lose an allied colored limb."
Lands may be played once per turn cycle. Mana of a color type may only be drawn from lands or spell effects if Roger has the corresponding limb color connected to his essence.
At the start of Roger's turn he loses 1 point of life for each chain attached to his essence.
Roger can break a chain as long as he has two limbs connected to his essence. The cost to break 1 chain is one spell from Roger's spells per turn cycle. A chain can only be broken at sorcery speed.
Should Roger lose complete connection to his essence by having all five limbs severed then he will as a state based effect have his mana pool drained, all lands bounced to his satchel, and suffer a psychic backlash of 1 life loss per land returned to the satchel.
Roger can reconnect a limb to his essence at sorcery speed and at the cost of 1 spell for the turn cycle.
Effects of mana in this encounter are not currently known to Roger. Feel free to explore what can be used, bolstered, weakened, or even altered.
Grol let out a guttural growl as Roger pulled him about into the chaotic spin. Alas Roger was correct in his assumption of physical strength being meaningless. Grol though appeared fully aware of this fact as he grinned wickedly and came to a sudden halt sending a recoiling force back through the chains in Roger momentarily stunning him.
Grol took advantage of Roger's moment of weakness to solidify three of the chains into the red hot chains of the first. Black ichor began to drip from two of the chains threatening to rend further limbs of mana.
4 chains on Roger.
Roger is down a blue limb currently.
2 rolls will follow here, reference the chart to see what limbs Roger may lose and role play the result as you see fit.
