This thread is for the characters Aggron and Gully. Anyone posting here besides a WPL will be subjected to the horde of undead from Grixis kept at bay by my will alone.
Formerly [Boros] Resistance
The clerk waited patiently outside for the two to return from their business so he could direct them to the damage being done in the sewers. While waiting he hummed to himself occasionally checking the time or his clipboard.
Once Aggron realizes the situation, he leaves to go take care of the bolstering his satchel requires. There was that one card I saw that Naba had that would help me out a lot here...and that one spell that really boosts it...good thing I'm in Ravnica, it'll be cheaper...
After a harrowing afternoon involving another trip to the bank and some aggressive haggling in the markets, Aggron heads up to the north gate and awaits his companions.
Gully nods to the clerk and takes her leave. She first heads to Orzhova to get the gold that she needs and then to Linessa's to get the spell gems that she wants for this mission. Once she has it all taken care of she heads to Ravinca's Northern Gate.
My apologies for that for the wait. I am very new to the city.
<No problem, it took me a while to learn this place too.> Aggron had spent enough time wandering around Ravnica by now that he had been able to finish his chores a little more quickly than Gully. <Just so you know, by the way, the only really effective spell I could find doesn't work exceptionally well for protecting you. I can keep the creatures off us, but I can't heal you if you get badly hurt. Do you have your own healing now?>
OOC: Although to be fair, I'm waiting for Murphy's confirmation on my assorted satchel changes. They got a little complicated.
"From the sound of your conversation, I can safely assume that you two were able to take care of your business?" spoke the awaiting clerk.
I have a few projects and exams this past week and upcoming week. I'm sure the math is right on your updated satchels and purchases. So for now we'll move the quest along and I will check and update the information when I have some more time.
The clerk turned to lead them down the alleys saying, "Near here is the Golgari territory. Usually they are reluctant to work with us but considering recent circumstances..."
His voice had trailed off before it picked up again with him saying, "This time they've given us very specific directions to the area being raided. Right now I am leading you to a sewer that will drop you near the action, if there is still a fight down there. Be wary that these sewers lie near two ley lines that the raiders may tap into."
Aggron follows the others, but he's thinking fast. <What kind of leylines are these? Can we use them? And what do we know about the raiders, other that they're strong enough to cause problems for the Golgari?>
The clerk's face betrays a small wince at the mention of the Golgari being weak as he says, "The only reason the Golgari have yet to stomp out this incursion is due to all of the Guild's being in a weakened state due to a planar threat in Urborg. The Rakdos, at least they are our prime suspect, decided now would be the most opportune time to strike."
Recalling that Aggron had asked about the leylines, the clerk grew quiet as he referenced some sheets. Then looking up he said, "According to Izzet leyline research, there should be an ancient ziggurat buried beneath the sewers marking the leyline intersection. These two leylines carry strong currents of Ravnica's black and red mana."
He frowned saying, "Be careful. The Rakdos no doubt chose to attack this area for the passive benefits of these leylines. Be ready to counter act these effects."
The clerk mentioning of a 'Planar threat in Urborg' brought a concerned look to Gully's face. She scowls at the mention of the Rakdos being able to use the natural effects of the area to their advantage.
What kind of Powers do these Leylines give?
"If channeled properly, the Leyline of the Void can do exactly as it's name implies: banishing all that falls to the grave, except for the channeler's own resources. The Leyline of Lightning is a volatile source of magic to channel, used properly and focused on a target can result in your spells lashing out with additional force. That is the limit of our knowledge on those Leylines." spoke the clerk. "Anything else?"
I will be taking back over this quest. I apologize for my extended leave of absence, and thank Murphy for taking over for me.
We now return to your regularly scheduled quest.
The clerk stops short, looking at his feet. "We're here, in fact."
In front of him is a manhole. The cover for it appears to be missing. The clerk motions to the two mages to hold a moment while he searches around the alley. A change comes over him as he does this search: he is much calmer, much more poised while searching the scene of a crime; he is clearly in his element. He eventually finds the cover below a neat dent in the brick wall. With the precision of a forensics expert, he looks around the manhole, and finds several scratches on the rim. He then goes over to the manhole itself and finds similar markings there.
He looks up at the two mages. He points a pen at the four dings on the manhole rim, each just over an inch apart. "Claw marks. Either they have recruited someone like you," he points at Aggron, "Or they may have Demons working with them."
He nods, slowly. Aggron shakes his head briefly. <If whatever did this is anything like that demon I fought, we'll need to be very careful. Do you two want to prepare anything before we go after them?>
Looking down carefully with his black-mana-infused darkvision, Aggron looks for a solid place to stand, then slowly lets himself down to it. He looks around and breathes in deeply, trying to get a good sense of his surroundings--what they look like, and what kind of blood it might be. Aggron has had plenty of opportunity to smell human blood in the past...
