The figure leads them both to a ring, just cleared of combatants. "This is a battle between Dodaer and X'rric the..." The judge's voice trails off for a second, before he repeats the last section, cutting himself off. "And X'rric."
"Since X'rric is a newcomer to the Arena, I will explain the rules." He goes on to do so in excruciating detail. Eventually, he gets through the long-winded explanation and shouts, "Begin!"
A dark aura appeared around Dodaer. It dwindles a bit as a dark blob shoots out from him and collides with the ground leaving a zombie goblin behind. Dodaer pulls out his dagger and signals for his opponent to make his next move, a smile growing inside his dark hood.
OOC: My turn is NOT over, I am simpy waiting to see if you have a response.
As the diseased, undead goblin appears, the pool under X'rric's feet spreads. He then
points his sharpened, bony finger towards Dodaer ordering his bat to attack. The bat races towards Dodaer, flying over the goblin's head and baring its fangs and claws as it bears down on him.
OOC: Vampire bats is currently not pumped. However, that will may change depending on your responses.
Surprisingly, the bat flies over Dodaer's head and loops back around towards X'rric. The attack had been a feint. Afterwards, X'rric summons two more of them.
OOC: I pass my turn after the summoning.

"Pain has a face; allow me to show it to you. I. Am. Pain."
Hmm, interesting tactic... Dodaer gathers more mana. Dodaer sends another dark blob crashing into the arena floor, leaving a shadow stirring in the ground. It skitters towards X'rric, silent but hellbent on bloodshed.
X'rric winces slightly at the touch of the shadow, but it was FAR from the worst pain he had ever experienced. As the pooling darkness beneath his feet grows, he summons forth yet another bat. Once again, X'rric sends his bat racing towards Dodaer. The question is, would he feint yet again? If so, what could the zombie hope to gain from this tactic?
OOC: I'm not done, once again I may or may not pump mana into the bat. Just waiting to see your responses.

This time, X'rric shoots out a crackling, sooty beam of black mana at his bat. Upon striking it, the bats would multiply into a swarm of shadowy bats and fly at Dodaer attempting to rake him with thier claws and bite him with thier daggerlike fangs.
OOC: X'rric taps the two untapped swamps, pumping the bats by +2/+0
Regardless of whether or not Dodaer was hit, X'rric raises up one of the meathooks on chains, waiting. Realizing that the shadow could become semi-tangible to hurt him, X'rric now knew that it could be killed.

Recoiling slightly from the fury of attacks, Dodaer shrugged off the pain. His aura darkened before another blob shot out from him, this time leaving a sliver behind. Dodaer pointed towards X'rric and his shadow responded by heading towards X'rric.
As soon as the shadow strikes him, X'rric swings down his meathook hoping to pierce it when it momentarily becomes tangible (attacking it with +1/+0 weapon).
With the shadow disposed of, X'rric resumes his assault. As the pool of black mana at his feet spreads, X'rric sends two of his bats at Dodaer this time, infusing both with black mana and causing them to temporarily multiply into a cloud of fangs, claws, and fluttering wings.
OOC: X'rric pumps both of the attacking bats by +2/+0, attacking for a total of 4.

Dodaer reacts quickly as he sees the creatures coming towards him. He runs up to his own zombie goblin and before the bats could reach him, he sliced the goblin. A dark cloud shot out of the dying corpse and, with some direction from Dodaer, engulfed one group of bats before coming into contact with Dodaer's flesh. He was helpless to halt the other bats, however.
OOC: I struck my own festering goblin with my dagger targeting one of the bats before they could connect. I'm assuming you end your turn after the attack. If not, I'll edit this. I really hope you were done.
After wiping a little bit of blood off of his arms, Dodaer gathered more mana to him. As he outstretched his hands, his aura dwindled and an object shimmered into existence inside his hands. It was a statue resembling the sliver in front of him. Dodaer then shot another dark blob onto the arena floor, leaving a familiar shadow behind in its wake. This time, however, the shadow reacted to the statue strangely, slowly morphing itself to resemble the sliver next to it. Yes, now's the time to try it. Let's see if this works...
Dodaer laid the statue down on the arena floor next to him. He held his hands out to his sides, palm facing upwards. He sent a mental command to the shadow which responded by tearing itself apart on the arena floor. It split itself into two separate entities which slid back towards Dodaer and was absorbed into his aura. His aura flickered as he did this. A shadow stirred on the arena floor, morphing itself into the shape of a sliver once again. Dodaer sent another mental command to this creature, also. It responded just as the other shadow had. Dodaer kept repeating this process, each time basking fully in the dark power he was gathering from it. Eventually, Dodaer's aura grew obviously black and he was enshrouded in it. It was beginning to take a toll on him. He stopped giving the mental commands to his shadow. He stretched both hands out in front of him, calling on his mana. A large blob of darkness collided with the ground. It left behind a humongous shadow creature which proceeded to take the shape of a sliver too. Dodaer gathered the rest of his mana and fed it to the large shadow creature. The shadow seethed with dark power. It started to grow. As it grew, so too did the other shadows. At the same time, the real sliver creature and the bats seemed to be getting weaker and weaker. Soon, the whole arena floor was covered by shadows. Dodaer spoke to his opponent. "I'd advise you to concede right now. I won't be responsible for any injuries you'd receive if you let my shadow here decimate you." Dodaer wore a smile on his hidden face. It works, he thought to himself.
OOC: Wall of text, I know. So, here's what happened. I played Hivestone, then played another nether traitor. I sacrificed the traitor thanks to basal sliver's ability. It gave me 2 black mana. At the same time, the other nether traitor in the graveyard triggered, so I paid the one black mana to bring it back. Then I repeated the cycle, each time getting a result of +1 black mana. I then played Stronghold overseer and pumped 40 black mana into it, pumping all shadows by +20/+0 and shrinking everything else by -20/-0. Then, I asked for concession by threatening with an attack from my 21/1 hasty nether traitor that was left over from the process. Pretty sweet, right? (gee, I hope that works out the way I think it does)
X'rric stares dumbfounded at the events as they transpire. As the massive shadows begin engulfing the arena, the reclusive wight just drops the meathook hanging from his hand. He must have been dealing with a master mage this whole time. X'rric falls to his knees and dismisses his summons. "It seems that once again I am doomed to failure" the zombie says as he concedes the match.
"Whether you destroy me or not is your choice." During his time in Phyrexia, Rath, and Urbog, X'rric had learned that the strong survive and the weak are destroyed. Knowing that death was the consequence of defeat, he had chosen his battles carefully, until now. Gaining magical abilities had made him arrogant. "If you should spare me, I pledge my service to you" X'rric offers.
"Since X'rric is a newcomer to the Arena, I will explain the rules." He goes on to do so in excruciating detail. Eventually, he gets through the long-winded explanation and shouts, "Begin!"
