You forge on, lost or not, as you approach the more mountainous regions. Ahead of you, you see three separate cave openings in the side of the hills. The left-hand cave is about 25 feet higher up the slope than the other two, which are otherwise identical. A mossy substance grows on the cave walls at each entry point.

They love and hate to see me walk through the door. I'm the man with the box, one to carry all his Standard cards with him. I've got the commons and uncommons they need. But I've also got my decks. If I walk into FNM, I came to play. And they never know what I'm gonna pull out of my hat next. I may lose more than I win, but it just might be THIS deck that has all the answers that they don't have answers for. They fear the unknown. They fear me. And they never see me coming!
"Well, this certainly creates food for thought." Xin's eyes wandered across the three cave openings, hands on his hips, his mouth turned in a sort of troubled frown. "Any idea if the map says which way to go?"
Looking at the map, you don't see any kind of markings indicating a cave or anything else. Only the "X" is visible as a marker for where you have to go, and it is showing on a mountain.

Leaning over Roger's shoulder, Xin pointed to the 'X' on the map, and then to the highest cave entrance up the mountain. "Do you suppose the top entrance is our best bet, then? It seems to be the best choice we have for which direction to take; it's the only one out of place, and the map says close to that, at least."
"If you're crazy enough to live out here, I doubt you'd want to live in the largest mountain. It'd be too obvious for other people to find. You'd want to be as far from everything that could harm you as possible. The mountains surrounding it would be sufficient for that. I think whoever commissioned us might be there," said Dodaer. "There could be some indication for us to tell which one to go up. Can either of you two see any signs of life up there?"
Dodaer stared off into the distance looking for anything that would help their decision.

"But it could be sentient. That's more information than we had before, right? More information, better choices, higher survival rate," replied Dodaer without even turning to face Roger. It was obvious he was thoroughly convinced there was no better way. "Besides, it doesn't hurt to look... unless we're dealing with a gorgon of course. Slim chances that we're dealing with one of those though." Dodaer's focus was still on the mountains and the caves. There's got to be some indication of something...

Shrugging his shoulders, Xin sat down on a small boulder near the trio, resting his elbows on his knees as he looked at the two of them. "There doesn't seem to be any real indication of life here other than a choice - so it's probably best if we just pick an opening and head inside," he suggested, yawning slightly. The effects of the tournament fights were catching up to him, it seemed.
"I still hold by my choice that the top opening is the only one that's different from the other two, so it probably has the best odds of having something interesting, but if you two have other opinions, I'm all ears."
OOC: Yes, it would be difficult to see through the trees, though not necessarily impossible.

"I guess it depends on whether the priority is to survive or hide... Fine, we'll go up the middle mountain as it appears I'm out voted," said Dodaer apparently giving in. "I can't see anything anyway. Let's just get this over with then." Dodaer starts on his way towards the tallest mountain.
OOC: I'm confused. Which entrance, if any, are you going to?

As you approach the cave, you notice that the tunneling entrance is lit, though not brightly.

Roger looked at the others, as though conceding that they were correct. Then silently gestured for them to be quite. He gave them a signal for them to stop and began to fade into nothing. Roger's silhouette appeared for a small amount of time and then, suddenly, nothing. Roger moved quietly into the cave to check things out. Hoping his friends understood not to follow.
OOC Roger made himself invisible and then entered, going in until he finds something..

Keeping as quiet as possible, Xin approached the fringe of the cave's entrance, holding his position as Roger moves forward slowly. He gave himself pause to let his eyes readjust to the dim light, his hand resting on the cave wall, peering into the cave to try and make out details.
As Dodaer noticed the light difference, he used a fraction of mana for a small night vision spell, similar to the one he used way back when he was searching for Seven. As his head was turned, no one noticed a dim circle of light in the shape of his eye shoot out from his hood. When it subsided, Dodaer turned to look at the others. He wants us to remain quiet and wait here?... Fine... Wait, what's he... Hmm, that's one useful ability... I guess we'll leave this to him as he seems most qualified right now.

OOC: Please note, I don't mind you reading the other players' spoilers. However, if you try to use that info that your character doesn't know to your advantage, I WILL ask the WPLs for meteors.
As you walk into the cave, it winds around as it gradually slopes down, and the temperature inside increases. The moss on the wall provides a faint luminescence, and you have little trouble seeing. After about a quarter of a mile walking, you notice that the cave begins to open up ahead into a well-lit area.
The light is apparently coming from the moss on the wall, which provides a faint luminescence. Though you can't see Roger, you see the tunnel wind off in the distance, as the tunnel slopes gradually down.

Roger turns back and tries to find his companions. He removes a crystal from his satchel that gives off an aura that allows black mages to see in the dark. Hopefully one of them would notice a floating crystal.
"I don't think so, we've been walking straight from where we landed, we SHOULD be going the right way."
