The door is unlocked and swings open quite easily. Beyond is a staircase, but it heads up and down.

Someone once asked me why, when I talk about House Dimir, I don't put the word "the" in front of it.
At the time, I had no answer, but it just came to me.
Do we put the word "the" in front of God?

Remembering that he is in a race to get to the Mirari Xen forgoes a full exploration of the tower and heads to the top. Carefully he steps onto the stairwell and makes his way up. Every few steps he looks down the stairwell to see if he spots anything down there.
Other than his own footprints in the dust on the stairs, Xen spots nothing. At the top, he finds another door, only this one is locked.

Xen examines the door and lock for any signs of interest. Having taken a good look he turns around and heads down to the bottom level to see if he can find a key or other possible options.
Checking for what type of door, is it wood or what? Also checking to see if the lock appears to be a barred setup, knob setup, or door to wall setup like in apartments. Let me know if you need a perception roll for the other possible options. Signs of interest for Xen would be any symbols, pictures, letters, and words.
The lock appears to be a latch symbol with associated lever-and-handle.

Noticing the scratch marks Xen moves in closer to examine them for a pattern or meaning. As he examines them he runs his fingertips over the symbols to feel the texture.
Wondering if this door is wood, stone, or metal still to get a sense of the set up as well as how the engraving or scratchings might look.
The body of the door is wood. There are metal bands securing the hinge attachments and the handle is metal. The scratch marks are in the metal surrounding the handle itself. There are three symbols. One is a stylized tree, another is a stylized ball of flame and the third is a stylized drop of water.

Drawn to the tree symbol Xen continues to caress it with his fingertips. Curious he closes his eyes for a moment focusing on the tranquility of the forest. Soon green traces of mana crawl down from Xen's shoulder to his arm then to his hands and finally to his fingertips where it is then channeled into the shape of the symbol.
Xen knew the whole process must look silly to an outsider but he had this urge to feel out both the symbols and the tower. Xen unfortunately knew so little about planar portals and travel. Thus he was having difficulty staying focused and fighting the urge to test everything around him. He simply couldn't help but question and observe everything around him, doing such was a part of his core and the way he held harmony with the primal magics of the Forests.
The tree glows with an inherent green light. The other two symbols also glow green briefly before they shoot a bolt of light into Murphy. They withdraw, causing no damage, and then the door opens silently. A voice sounds. "Welcome, druid."

Xen startles at the door's reaction to his mana. Gathering himself he calls out to the voice faintly saying, "Thank you..."
Bringing his dagger slightly above his head Xen continues to channel his mana into the blade to provide light for himself. Looking forward Xen walked through the doorway examining his surroundings.
As he steps through the threshold he keeps his guard up searching for the origin of the voice.
On the other side is nothing more than a really big portal, glowing with green and blue energy with red flickering through it on occasion.

Xen paused for a moment taking in the sight of the portal for it was the first time he had ever seen one. Wanting to know more about them Xen sat down before the portal and meditated.
There he sat opening his mind to the magic around him trying to feel out the portal. He wanted to be able to try and find such magics later on should he have to make an escape from the plane after finishing his business there.
After several minutes of this meditation Xen finally stood up and gathered both himself in body mind and spirit as well as his belongings. Looking into the depths of the portal Xen couldn't help but feel a since of awe for he was looking into the fabric of the universe, or so he thought.
Stepping forward Xen made his way towards the portal that connected his home plane to that of this other plane. All of this done by using mana to create a tunnel through the Blind Eternities.
Xen wondered for a moment how it would feel travelling through such a thing. Would it hurt? Would it be soothing?
He didn't know. There was only one way for him to know. So Xen picked up his stride and walked through the portal looking forward to seeing what this other plane would look like.
Stepping through the portal was not a comfortable experience, but it did not hurt either. Xen felt like he was being squeezed on all sides and pulled by a hand gripping his ribcage. All of a sudden, the sensations stop. On the other side is a long, blue hall with glowing walls and flickers of green and red light on the floor, ceiling and walls. At the other end is a door.

Xen suppressed a vomiting urge as he looked down the hallway.
Ugh. That was not pleasant at all. I hope I wont be doing that soon.
Xen looked behind him first to see if there was a portal there as well before heading down the hallway. Taking note of what was behind him Xen then headed down the hall toward the door. Stopping before the door Xen examines it for any symbols and markings as well as testing the door to see if it is locked.
Just as he touches the door, there's a whisper of sound behind him and a voice rings out, "You are not authorized to be here!"

Standing before him is a strange being that looks to be made of pure energy. It swirls with both blue and red power. Just as he turns Xen notices a bit of green energy bleeding off it, leaving only blue and red. "You are not the master. You are not authorized to be here!"

Xen tilts his head slightly in a challenging manner and says, "Correct, I am not the master. I am Xen Anastan, Shanodian Druid of Estark and I have been welcomed here. So tell me how I cannot be authorized to be here if I was in fact welcomed?"
The energy-based creature seems to stop, then it repeats itself. "You aren't authorized to be here. Leave now, or I will be forced to destroy you."

Xen immediately drops into a defensive stance and brings his dagger to bear. Seeing the being draw upon mana incites a curse from Xen as he clears his mind attempting to draw upon his mana.
As he exhales a green aura blooms out from behind him as he draws upon his mana. Xen points behind him as he channels his mana into a summoning spell that causes a forest mirage to appear as an elf attempts to walk from the forest into the plane.
